ZOTAC GeForce GTX 970 Pictured

Here's the first picture of a ZOTAC-branded GeForce GTX 970 graphics card, the first one shot with its box, confirming the GTX 900 series nomenclature NVIDIA adopted. ZOTAC's card appears to be based on a non-reference PCB, and features a rather compact-looking aluminium fin-stack heatsink, which is ventilated by a pair of 80 mm spinners. The box doesn't flash any "OC" markings, so it's safe to assume that he card runs at its reference clock speeds of 1051 MHz core, 1178 MHz GPU Boost, and 7012 MHz (GDDR5-effective) memory. The card features 4 GB of memory across a 256-bit wide memory interface. Based on the 28 nm "GM204" silicon, the GeForce GTX 970 reportedly features 1,664 CUDA cores, 138 TMUs, and 32 ROPs.

Sun, yup, it is indeed fascinating how nvidia can build much more efficient architectures performance wise. If they stress on the quality coming from their products, they will have no competition at all.

Guess how castrated this card is and yet how powerful it is. Imagine how mighty the new Maxwell Titans would turn out to be.

The sad thing is that nvidia don't even need to hurry for 16 nm, if they can destroy competition with 28 nm Maxwell.

I wouldn't worry too much about that scenario. Neither are going anywhere anytime soon in graphics. It's in both their best interests to foster the impression that they're involved in a battle royale to keep the PR machine rolling - it distracts the masses from the fact that both companies have at least a loose accord not to be involved in a price war. Notice how both companies have shifted the price debate to the background and are fighting their supposed battle almost entirely with add-on's, software suites, and "features".

.....my itx system just winked at me. Just imagine something 750ti sized putting out 780 level performance .... with 750 temps....now that would be awesome. I know it defeats the purpose of x99 but i too would love to see a six core itx.....just because. While i'm floating here in dream land wouldn't it have been a more perfect world if the haswell refresh would have been a partially locked 6 core on z97 ok ok im awake.

Just like the 670s, but with ~780 performance. Sounds like win in an even smaller ITX build to me.

I think that anyways there will be regulatory organs which will put prices in check.

"Destroy" was used not for complete destruction and removal of the competition out of the market but I meant that Maxwell cards will ultimately dominate the market without effective competition from another architecture.

I like Zotac. I'll wait until the custom pcb AMP! card comes out, but I like where the new color scheme is going.

If the price is kept under $400, then I know what my next vidcard upgrade will be~ I wonder what Zotac's warranty is but that 'extended warranty' definitely sets itself from the pack. I expect the Zotac's crazy orange colour scheme will be reserved for that AMP! edition cards, hopefully they also light up because that will be all kinds of awesome

id view it as a win for me with a $300 price tag (+eu import charge + vat + €/$ rate = yuck!). over that price its more nvidia than customer win.. my gtx670 ftw+ 4GB cost $230. id like to keep it around 300 as in the geforce 4200ti golden days..
