I tried to read up on the game, but gave up. Whoever designed that abomination of a web must be completely blind or an E.T. It makes absolutely no sense at all, and finding anything is collosal pain in the ass. Things are put together seemingly randomly, without any sense of continuity whatsoever. Ewgh.

Yeah, I've been having trouble navigating it also. Forums have been really helpful.
Check out the big S.C.A.M. though.

Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. It's setup for Star Citizen by default pretty well. I hit button 11 and your "eyes" lock on to the target. I'm also using gimbaled guns on my wingtips. I just borrowed the gimbal mounts from the 300i trainer and the test gun.

How does everything fly on a keyboard? The only other controller I've got is a wheel.

Also, in general how well does it run? To get that 60fps did you have to turn anything down? I didn't see any framerate dips. What are your specs?

KB + Mouse is pretty damn good in this game. I use a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro at my main rig...but I use mouse + KB on my lappy. I have used kb + mouse on my main gaming rig in my main 3 space sims...that being Evochron Mercenary, Elite: Dangerous and Star Citizen. All perform extremely well without sticks. All perform extremely well with sticks.

I don't like the default layout for the Extreme 3D Pro in SC...probably because I'm too used to EvoMerc and Elite Dangerous' control schemes. Yaw and Roll are switched in SC, that and I like to use the HAT switch for strafing. I find that is very useful in SC, at least with my slower and less maneuverable Aurora. I need a better ship for combat!

I am a little disappointed. It looks a little too Bf3 for me, but I think that is what they were going for. It is a space SIMulation game. I just like more old school fps mechanics.

Meh. It'll be interesting to see how they implement this for taking over stations, boarding ships, etc. I did like the 0-g part of the demo but agree it seems like it plays too much like BF3. Really almost any shooter is going to seem like another shooter since the genre's been hounded to death. I'm really not too interested in running around on foot more-so than I am traveling around, getting into combat zones, and hopefully flying around planets too. It would be cool to have circuits that go from space to a canyon on a planet and back into space.

I couldn't watch it. The audio is horrid. Otherwise it looks like average FPS. It is mostly space oriented I think. All-in-all I think it will be polished more, but is only a feature to aid in the immersion of the actual world. You can't pirate a ship and hijack it without boarding, and they wouldn't not shoot you if you tried to take it. It makes sense at least.

Oh man. I've got a 7970 out on RMA. We all know overclocking might not work, so I'll probably be looking at medium. I do only play at 1280x1024 though. There's also the fact that you've got a 3770k at 4.8Ghz. (stalked youtube. ) Haswell at 4.3 is something like 4.5 for ivy right?

The top 3 controllers over at Amazon all look nice. The 3D pro does have the reputation to it though. It's funny, that would be the second logitech product I'd have that started production before 2006. I've got a logitech MOMO force feedback wheel.

Yes. Immersion and all that. Thing is the controls were just changed (and are better) but they'll keep getting tweaked up until the beta.

If you can't get both, get Elite. I believe it will come out the end of this year. SC is still a year+ away from release, so you can save up for that and the OR. lol

FYI, the language in a game is unpredictable when it comes to any multiplayer game. The good thing is both will be playable offline/single player.

The Logitech stick is good and also Thrustmaster T16000M is another very good option.

They're(CIG) trying to make it so that no one input is superior to another. This is still a game that will take some skill/practice to be on top. You always have the option of using stick and mouse(flight+aim).

Personally, I'm going to use a HOTAS setup for flight. I want to feel like I'm flying.

Just got back from a few weeks of travel to try out the new patch - wow. Using my HOTAS+pedals setup the game feels amazing now in combat. Managed to get to wave 13 on my first life in AC thanks to how well you can fly and target now - much better.

For the first time in the game I felt like I was the pilot in the ship - surrounded by wave 13's swarm of alphas and missing most of my ship it was really thrilling to continue fighting - down 1 gun, then 2, only missiles left so fire as many as possible and eject at last moment - amazing. Can't wait until SQ42's first missions come out - swarm mode is great, but there's no way to win (unless you hide in a small gap in one of the large asteroids, then the vanduul fly into the asteroid over and over - they really need to tweak that AI again

In case anyone missed the announcements the Origin M50 is available for everyone to play with this weekend. I can seriously recommend it as it's a speed tank in combat (able to avoid damage as opposed to absorbing it). No other ship offers that playstyle at the moment as they're all much bigger targets. Oh and go have some fun racing it - easily the best racing ship out there (the 350R is more like racing a brick than a ship as it's too heavy for tight corners).

Sounds like it is time for me to install the latest update and try it out. Im a little worried about performance. Last time I played I had my 7970, and I have since downgraded to a 750ti.
