Samsung Gives Away Far Cry 4 with 840 EVO SSDs

Samsung Electronics America, Inc. today announced a new gaming bundle offer through a partnership with Ubisoft. Available starting on Black Friday and while supplies last, the deal will provide purchasers of a Samsung 840 EVO solid state drive (SSD) with a bonus download of Far Cry 4, the newest action-adventure game in the popular Far Cry Series.

With the 840 EVO, players of the action-packed Far Cry 4 will be able to enjoy superior gaming through Samsung's best-in-class drive performance. The drive is significantly faster than a standard hard disk drive (HDD), providing users with a better gaming experience through decreased loading times, enhanced responsiveness and overall improved gameplay.



"The 840 EVO SSD offers users with blazing fast speeds, unmatched reliability and overall sustained performance, making it the ideal choice for gamers," said Ron Gazzola, vice president of marketing at Samsung Electronics America. Welp, just went on a $450 buying spree at Newegg. At least I am receiving nearly $950 worth of items and finally getting a new 500GB 840 EVO SSD + FC4 coupon and 3TB HDD for my desktop.

Had exactly the same plan, but instead Samsung I bought Crucial M100 500GB (don't care about ubishite games anymore) and 3TB Seagate. While SSD is on its way, Seagate came faulty had to RMA it

Thought exactly opposite after my 2 WD's died after a month and lost all my data Never happened to me while using Seagate. I wonder how are Fujitsu disks nowadays?

I've bought WD drives that were DOA. In fact two of the 4 WD blacks in my RAID-5 came DOA or went bad within hours of using it. It can happen to any vendor. I just think WD's turnaround time for bad drives is second to none. Also I've yet to get a replacement drive back from them that has failed. All in all, the point is that going WD doesn't guarantee you a good drive, it does give you good service though, at least in the US of A.

I want 512GB SSDs to get a bit cheaper, then I'm on board. Adding a game doesn't change that, at least for me.

It's a common thing to think that seagate drives are trash today if you're stuck in 2010.

The 500GB 840 EVO was $190 for me, so I ended up jumping on that. I currently have a 2 year old 240GB Mushkin Chronos I got for $155 new n late 2012 that has been beaten up pretty hard, so I figured now would be a good time to "replace" it, along with replacing my 2TB 5900RPM Seagate Barracuda Green I got a week before "floodgate" in October 2011 with a 3TB Seagate 7200RPM model.

I've not been a fan of WD after buying a terribly slow WD Scorpio Black 750GB, and buying 4 500GB Black model drives three years ago, two of which died pretty much immediately, and they are rather slow too. All of these drives were used in AMD machines, might be an issue concerning some sort of weird conflict with the SB850 making them seem slower?

Meh, the 500GB 840 EVO still has a 3 year warranty, and was $190 vs $320 for the 512GB 850 Pro. Considering my late 2012 cheapo Mushkin Chronos 240GB has outlasted my 2011 Corsair Force 3 120GB by over a year (both are rather full), I'd have to say SSDs are improving across the board.

Are you messing with me? Where did you see the Samsung 840 EVO 500gb for 190 because I want one for my laptop at that price!

Yep, Newegg. It was actually listed as $229 or something on the product list, but I clicked on it, the price became $190, and I bought it.

Now to wait for my economy package to arrive, I wasn't going to pay $30 for UPS 3 day. Really what I should have done was purchased Newegg Premier as I think it would have taken $25 off my order, but I was dumb.
