In my opinion if it is based on win rate then it will be a fail, if it is relative to the tank you are driving even average damage for that vehicle would be a more realistic measurement.

Agree with skill MM. We need to see how Obsidian define skill. If it's something similar with WN8 I'll pass. Every tank and/or class should have some individual parameters for measuring skill. You cannot apply same measurement from heavy to lights or arty for example.
Otherwise I'm really happy with their vision about MM.

i think number of pvp battles will be suitable enough.
if after 2k battles you are driving t6-t7 heavy and you die in first 1.5 min of the battle then you either need to improve your skills dramaticaly or you must drop this game and save misery on those guys that had bad luck to be your team mates.

And another news somehow related to AW.
Many of you WoT players probably knows about For The Record blog. Unfortunately the blog is closed now but fortunately Silentstalker is now hired by My.com as Content Manager for Armored Warfare.

OK, somehow I've missed this explanation about skill (or it was added later after my post):

In case you are wondering how skill is measured in Armored Warfare – we developed an internal rating system, based on multiple factors (including winrate, average XP and other things). However, here’s the thing – we will not disclose the exact formula to prevent users from „playing“ the system. This rating is internal and will not be displayed in battles – based on previous experience with a similiar system, we really don’t feel like this would contribute to positive game environment in any way.

Let's see how it goes.

as soon as win rate has lowest weight in formula this sounds good . this way pl/ru player factor will be reduced to minimum

Matchmaker detailed.
On paper is close to perfection so let's hope in practice will work as it should.

Same feeling here. Sandbox promo video. Pay to win game. I have gone the whole FAQ section and their clear emphasis on "develop tanks" with upgrades like all those other (two) MMO tank games turns me off.

A small request guys. If you have an account on their forums please cast a vote for me here.
It's a national contest for a beta-key. Basically they ask us why we want to play and then select 5 answers which are voted by community. First 2 guys receive a beta-key.

Thanks in advance. :toast:

I'm a sucker for tanks myself... I want to buy this. So bad.

Yet this video makes me want to hold out a while longer...

Ah well. Back to World of Tanks in the meanwhile...

Yeah, although back then, I was more hooked on the Comanche series.

I know it seems kind of dumb, especially since AW will be a WoT clone, but I'm really looking forward to it for a breath of fresh air.

Maybe I'm looking forward to a brand new community, but I know this is naive. The WoT whining rabble will be there to.

I don't know what it is with people who whine and moan about MM and such. Losing is part of the game. Getting your butt whipped is part of the game. Losing streaks are part of the game. If there is not a bit(or truckload) of frustration, then how can there be any sense of accomplishment?

I'm just a wee bit tired of all the moaning and hating on the mmo scene. It's like most of them think themselves Jedis and if they lose, it must be because of that "noob" who should "uninstall"...

For crying out loud, just have some fun and shut up and be a graceful winner/loser.

Anyway, I will keep hoping for an amazing AW game with an amazing community and I will prepare myself for a little disappointment. :)

ooh, those were the days when living a mile or so from the shop was not a problem as you could still be reading the manual even if you walked back home.

OK, playing it for 4 days in Early Access.
Some impressions.
Basically it's WoT improved. And when I say improved it's improved in all areas, from graphics/sounds to game mechanics.
All what is bad in WoT in AW is patched.
RNG. More subtle, around +-10%.
Gold-ammo. Doesn't exist. You have some improved ammo but is researchable and it cost slight more than standard ammo (WT style). Beside that it only have some marginal improved penetration and damage.
Matchmaker. Everybody (almost) is playing tier 2-3 so MM is fine. Obsidian promise us something about +-1 Tier and also skilled MM. Not sure yet if it's implemented or not but for now it's fine from what I see.
Arty. Capped to 3/team. It has decent reload/aiming/accuracy but low alpha, low splash HP damage (but it can take some modules though). Beside that tanks are warned when they're targeted by arty and also arty players can see enemy arty players after shoot so it's somehow easy to hunt enemy arty with your arty.
ScreenShot0003.jpg

In picture above you can see my damage to enemy tanks. Any shot above 250 HP is from multiple hits on same target. otherwise the damage is in 200 HP area for a direct hit and way less for a splash.
Grind. You have WT style of grind. You're not forced to research modules for current tank to unlock the next one. Every battle gives you different XP: one for research next tank and one for current tank modules. Those are separate so basically you can play a tank stock (and stock tanks are not so bad like in WoT) until you unlock next tank. You also have some free XP.
Battle results. Again WT style. You did nothing you receive (almost) nothing. You did well you'll receive enough even for a loss. Victory bonus is 25%.
ScreenShot0000.jpg

You can see from the picture above that the guy from losing team with 0 damage have same XP like the guy from my team with 0 damage.

But not everything is bright. They have some problems with mouse sensitivity in sniper mode, I still don't understand how camo/spotting works (I was obliterated in my MBT by invisible tanks for example), when I'm hit (multiple hits especially) I don't have a nice feedback about this (or maybe I must get used to it because is not the same as in WoT).
Also some tanks looks OP and ones UP but this is a balance issues and not so important in this stage.

Bottom line: as an ex-hardcore WoT player (46k battles) and ex-WT player (13k RB battles) I can safely say that AW has a very nice start. And the better part is still to come (graphic optimizations, PvE, new tanks, customization, and so on).

Because you don't need to reinvent the wheel. You just need to improve it. :D
For now you have an arcade game with tanks (WoT) and a "realistic" one (WT).
AW is another arcade game with (modern) tanks and if WoT is so successful why not take the bare bone of it and improve it?

OK. nice game. maps are not massive but are bigger than WoT, so moving tactics are possible. Beatifull, reminds me GRAW.
Gameplay is more or less same as Panzer Elite, WarThunder, WoT with those damn siluettes.
So far, 5 completly different maps (desert, arctic, urban, tropical...)

Today I did a movie with arty in AW. Nothing spectacular just a normal game in arty.
I hope that you'll see the differences between AW arty and WoT arty. And I hope that guys who hate arty in WoT will try AW because arty is muuuch less annoying here.

In background Afterburner OSD is running for you to see load, temps, FPS, and so on. I lost at least 5 FPS for realtime encoding, generally speaking I don't have problems running game at max in full-HD (for me a steady 30 FPS is enough to play nice).
