What I'm hoping for in FO4:
I'm hoping for improvement in AI, hopefully NPC's won't be so excited
each and every time they see my character as if they are all dementia sufferers and forgot that we had just met a couple of game-hours before. Only dogs behave like that.
Also hoping that I won't be getting stern words from NPC's whenever I
merely look at a locked/steal-able item! It gets irritating, even more so when the NPC in question has no obvious interest in protecting such property. I mean come on Lucy West, why did you tell me to keep my hands off that ashtray in Moriarty's bar? I was only resting my cursor, erm, looking at it, with no intention to steal. And it's not even yours!
I'm also hoping that we are able to give items like medicine, armor and weapons to NPC's without having to do it underhand by reverse pick-pocketing, losing karma along the way and getting the whole neighborhood to attack you if we get caught! I mean come on, I'm
giving you something for free which is far from stealing. It makes sense to have an option to do so which would be separate from pick-pocketing. A bonus would be to have karma increase when donating items in this manner.
And finally I hope to see some fine-tuning in the game, which might seem unimportant but could be really game-breaking. I mean why the heck have a red cursor just to turn a radio on or off? I had just saved the day, got the purifier running, was chatting nonchalantly to the scribe who was giving me more jobs and everyone was thanking me profusely for my courage. There was that radio on the shelf, I turned it on, missing that the cursor was red....... and voila' everybody immediately forgot about all the mutants I killed and how I had saved the wasteland and my body got peppered with bullets, plasma and laser rays just for having switched on a radio. I was so immersed in the game and found this reaction so senseless that I didn't lift a finger to defend myself and just loaded a previous save!
God I hope I'm wrong about that this time round
