Griffin to Replace AMD's Turion Mobile Processor

Based on the K8 core, AMD's next generation mobile processor will be released mid-2008. The 65nm core socket S will receive Barcelona's Hyper transport 3 and will boast better power efficiency and management than its predecessor with its ability to limit the power consumption of the memory interface. The RS780/780G chipsets will combine with Griffin to include Hyperflash and Puma, which competes directly with Intel's Turbo Memory.

Anyway, sounds good - K8 CPU's with reduced power consumption, certainly beefy enough for laptops.

Oh and i dont hate the name griffin, although i thought it was spelled gryphon?

Intel's turbo memory is extra flash memory working together with the HDD to boost HDD speed.

Anyway, why are they releasing k8 cpu's for laptops now when conroes and their kin are dominating the laptop market :confused:

And finally, custom northbridge and chipset from amd for mobile computing

(plus DDR2)

AMDs mobile procs are great procs. Unless your into gaming, they do the job well with what they have. This is a nice refresh to the Turion (now Griffin) line. I like this.
