Nice, now I feel good about my AXi purchase! Previously, I was kinda jealous to be honest of the EVGA lineup's 10 year warranty... still, it remains to be seen whether or not I'll hold onto it long enough to use it, or even the 7 year one for that matter, lol.

Well that's quite a bit longer than my RX 850 lasted. Perhaps their quality has gotten better?

Why would a company expecting money issues EXTEND their warranties? That has never happened.

Companies have failed to honor lifetime warranties and such due to going out of business, and some have even been sunk by such warranties, but none to my knowledge ever extended a warranty as a preface to financial hardship.

Marketing move to increase sales and money in the directors pockets, for that trip to the Bahamas.

I find that a highly unlikely explanation given the marketing position of Corsair at the moment.

Its also pretty meaningless given the fact that the vast majority of people who would even spend this kind of money on such a high end PSU will have changed all the components within their PC within 3yrs anyway.

Its a good way of improving the sales without it actually costing them anything.

Nothing that EVGA haven't been offering for a while now, and I'd still take their Super Flower/Seasonic-built units over just about anything Corsair offer.

Any other hardware maybe, but why would you change a 800W gold/platinum psu every 3 years??

They only extend it to the Rmi and Rmx series, which are much higher quality than standard Rm series, about the same as Axi series

That's for a good reason. I had a 760 and a 860 die on me in 2 and 2.5 years.... and both were highly recommended by the "computer experts" on the interwebs.
Well, they are still Seasonic-units. AX760i and 860i are Flextronics.

(AX1200 is Flextronics aswell)

IIRC they changed the caps at some point... can't really remember, but I avoid Corsair since tbh (I still like Seasonic tho).

Well your post got me curious about cap selection, so I had a peer inside (not warranty voiding, just looking through the fan and grills). This AXi of mine is loaded with CapXon polymers. It's probably fine, because they are solid caps, but still... Corsair needs to get their head out of their ass with cap selection.

I got a good deal on this though, so I'm ok with it.

No, CapXon are never "fine" sadly, but I hope yours won't let you down.:toast:

CapXon solid caps aren't near as good as other solid caps, but still beat most electrolytic caps. Considering they are apparently on the modular connector board (and thus rather similar in role to cable caps), I really doubt this is a design issue, just disheartening.

The caps again. They wouldn't offer 10 year warranties if theu weren't confident in them, would they?

@Ikaruga Did they honor the RMAs? If yes, no problems, just bad luck.

the AX (non-'AXi) series should have gotten this warranty extension as well as they are identical to the AXi units except without the digital monitoring stuffs
