It looks like they're sort of following Intel's platform model. That's not good.

That's actually wccftech's word - all I've done is quote them.
It's actually Bits 'n Chips word that WCCFTech translated and brought to the English speaking world - a good thing, IMO.

And I agree too that the automatic dismissing of WCCFTech is unwarranted. They don't create the vast majority of their content. They report what's going on. That's also a good thing.

It's not the site that is the problem, it's the ferocity and general infantile shit slinging from those that comment in the news posts. WCCFTech has some okay stuff and some 'editorials' from Khalid? that seem informed.

But yes, they simply re-post other news (as does TPU). Difference is that I respect the majority of our forum and members and that we act as a helpful community (in the main).

Well, that sure isn't exclusive to there - and is not the majority of posters there either. Frankly, I don't normally read the comments there, just like I don't normally read the comments at C|Net, ZDNet and other IT "news" sites. That does not mean they don't provide useful and valid tech news/information.

The "ferocity and general infantile shit slinging" of some posters on this site is no better but I don't let their puerile behavior dissuade me from spending time here.

Indeed, it's their translation, I just wanted to clarify that I didn't make that statement, that's all.

And exactly, they're only reporting on what's happening and perhaps adding in some editorial content for a fuller article, not making claims of their own. Yet, people conflate this as wccftech making big, unfounded claims, which is just stupid.

It's not the site that is the problem, it's the ferocity and general infantile shit slinging from those that comment in the news posts. WCCFTech has some okay stuff and some 'editorials' from Khalid? that seem informed.

I don't think it makes sense to downrate a site's article, because a lot of their members act like spoiled brats in the comments. This and my point above seem to be what's happening with wccftech. In the end, I see TPU using them quite a lot now, which endorses my point that there's nothing wrong with them.

Well, that sure isn't exclusive to there - and is not the majority of posters there either. Frankly, I don't normally read the comments there, just like I don't normally read the comments at C|Net, ZDNet and other IT "news" sites. Exactly. As I've mentioned above, it makes no sense to consider the front page of TPU inferior just because there are some difficult forum members.

I am just confused why this was posted like it was some kind of news. Of course AMD is going to offer an enthusiast part with overclocking features. What in their history makes that seem like anything different would happen? Every single generation of AMD CPU's since 2003 (thats over a decade) has had at least one "overclocker edition". This is probably one of the most obvious things I have ever seen featured as some kind of news post. Next thing WCCF will post is that AMD is going to release a GPU. Like no shit Sherlock.

Yes, we know that AMD will release enthusiast parts, but it's just more specific info about an upcoming product, even if it's only rumour at this point, hence it's newsworthy.

News like this make AMD look bad, at least in my eyes.

It's like grasping at straws.
To me, the bit that's really telling that Zen could be a lackluster product despite a couple of encouraging signs is the fact that Intel couldn't be bothered to improve the IPC performance of their upcoming Kaby Lake CPUs. I really hope to be wrong here.

WCCFTech seems fine until you see there are 22 blocked ads ... I'm afraid to turn adblocker off because I might be attacked by artificial vaginas and penis enlargement pills ... and when you scroll down to comments, dear lord, my browser needs an exorcist ...

Other than that, cherry picked Zen CPUs that are clocked higher at stock and have more OC headroom for a premium price are to be expected. It may not be news, but it is a conversation starter :)

When Intel had Conroe in works that'd eventually beat the crap out of Athlon, there were plenty of leaks and ES chips out there. The leaks had rather trustable sources and indisputable benchmarks with cpu frequency available for viewing.
And I still have a Conroe ES chip in storage. :p

When AMD was working on Phenom, it was the opposite. Leaks had stupid sources and gossip sites were grasping at straws. AMD started the hype train with their braindead PR department and the result was a huge let down.

Zen? Well, we will see.

What was specific about the post? "AMD processors will have overclocking friendly features" that is about as generic of a statement as "trucks will come with truck tires" and about as newsworthy as "politicians tell lies"

Have you not read the article? Here:

The rumor points out that there would be at least one such variant in the Summit Ridge family. The part will feature 8 cores based on the Zen architecture. These special, enthusiast-grade chips would ensure high OC margins but also ship with higher frequencies compared to standard 95W variants. The TDP would remain at 95W for the higher clocked variants given that these are cherry picked.

It seems like these variants would be similar to Intel’s “Unlocked” series processors. Intel K-Series chips are also aimed at a similar market however, these are the only chips in Intel Core lineup that can be overclocked. AMD on the other hand, offers unlocked multiplier across all chips. But the special variants would generally be optimized for overclocking and enthusiast use.

The article also explains that the X370 chipset is the one for enthusiasts to go for and there's a nice slide too, which @Recon-UK put up in post 8 of this thread.

Kinda specific enough, especially for rumour, as you can see. Perhaps you should get your facts straight before making disparaging remarks? Just a thought.

What is different from what I said? AMD will OFFER AND OVERCLOCKING CHIP AND CHIPSET. There it is in all caps this is exactly how FM2/FM2+ works. it's also straight FUD, as there is nothing that shows lower bin chips cannot overclock.

AMD chips outside of the FX series have to clock multiplier only as the bus speed is tied to everything just like intel has been for 2-5th gen i-series CPU's. That would leave one to believe this which is an expansion of the FM series of boards not an expansion of the FX series would be in the same boat. This is also exactly how AMD currently brands its CPU with names such as the AMD Athlon 860K.

Since I buried your argument in the other thread you're really trying now, lol. In case you hadn't noticed, this is a forum post not a news post so it doesn't matter. Also, there might be stuff in the wccftech article that's not in these two, but I can't be bothered to check as it's not significant enough. Sorry bud, you Must Try Harder.

Add did you know it's inappropriate forum etiquette to bring your dirty laundry from one thread to another?
