Dishonored 2 gives you the choice to either be stealthy, fight or avoid conflict. The game is built using Void, a new DirectX 11 engine based on id Software's RAGE engine. We tested the game at up to 4K resolution on 10 different graphics cards and even looked into their VRAM usage.

Again.. I feel like I have hard time understanding the VRAM usage here..

Performance results are as I read briefly earlier. Sad.

First game was great. This looks to be more of the same. Shame about how poorly the graphics cards cope but at least I'll get about 60fps. But without trying to incite WW3, DX11 is still the de facto API of choice for so many games. I hope Vega has enough power to not be hamstrung like Fury X is. It's performance is just outright poor and we've not seen that sort of deficit against a 980ti for a while. Just checked and the studio partnered with Nvidia for a few elements (Ansel and HBAO+).

"we tested the game's memory usage. As you can see, the game doesn't use a lot of video memory by today's standards. Cranking up resolution doesn't increase the requirements too much either." TIL 5GB is not a lot of video memory by today's standards for 1080p !! , also the performance is horrible considering the graphics isn't that much of an improvement over DH1 .

-Hey Bob, should we optimize this a bit more before we push it out the door?
-Nah just throw a 1080 at it... it'll run.

Looks like my R9 290 will do just fine on 1080p. I'm going to 1440p soon so I will either have to overclock the crap out of my card or get another 290. I would love to see Crossfire benchmarks.

It is just me or every game that favor nVidia offer mediocre fps even with bad image quality recently?

Again.. I feel like I have hard time understanding the VRAM usage here..

Probably because you listened to all the bad reviewers and nVidia nuts who were going around demanding that you'd never need more than 4GB VRAM and that the 3.5GB issue on 970s was never going to be a problem.

Man that was a terrible time period. Every idiot was out in force professing this stupidity. VRAM requirements from games always go up regardless of the resolution. They profess this lunacy of "X amount of VRAM being enough for Y Resolution" almost every year now but last year was just so bad because no one with 970s wanted to admit nVidia had them over a barrel.

Now here we are, as I said, within a year, games pushing past 4GB at 1080 or under resolutions. The more complex games get, the more things need to be loaded into VRAM. You can tune it as best you can if you care to, but if not, just make it messy and dump stuff into VRAM. Especially games put on console that have sloppy ports for PC. Exactly why I couldn't go back to nVidia and returned to AMD with my 390. If consoles are shipping with 8GB, then games will be pushing past 6GB before long.

so why RX480 is very close to Fury X performance? i see the same with infinite warfare although fury x did pull ahead on higher res.

Because this is Bethesda. They forgot how to release a properly optimized and freeze/crash-free game about 15-16 years ago.

the game have it's own issue but i don't think it should impacting Fury X performance down to RX480 performance. after all Fury X simply have more raw performance than RX480.

Bethesda is only the publisher. It's Bethesda STUDIO games that are bugfests. You are making a radical assumption that this will not be as problem free as the first Dishonored:

Wizz, is there any way you could include performance with different clockspeeds and different numbers of cores enabled? System RAM usage would also be super interesting. There's more to performance than just graphics cards - not everyone has a top of the line CPU.

Certainly not until summer 2017, at which point I can look into its usage numbers and quality of game support.

Looks like another one of those Nvidia sponsored games thats so broken its unplayable.

Not wasting my money on it, i'm happy to stick with TF2 to occupy my free time, thanks for the review, it clearly needs a ton more work that it will never get.

Definitely just you and a few others with selective memories.

Also, while you're ignoring it, look at AMD's Deus Ex sponsored title. It's a real shit fest on fps.
