Oh...They will get it straightened out. It will only get better from here on out now that the chips are getting into real world hands.
I could just tell when AMD gimped their own test setups with 16gb of basic ddr4 2133 and Intel's was using 32gb of high end Corsair dominator.

It's more than good enough right here and now and yes there are bugs that are known and will be ironed out (memory speeds, timings, BIOS revisions etc) these so-called issues are not fairy tales and will be resolved..... I don't get your point

See, the thing is, Ryzen does not support dual-rank DIMMs at very high speeds at all, and actually requires single-rank DIMMs to scale the speeds up to "decent" levels for enthusiasts. That's not a problem; you just need to be selective with what kits you buy until ram makers have some time to come out with more kits tuned for AM4. BIOS will help a little bit, but won't be a "silver bullet".

Default:

Four sticks is only supported @ 1866 MHz. both single rank and dual rank. two Dual Rank DIMMS @ 2133 MHz, two Single Rank @ 2400 MHz.

out of all the kits I have, most of which default to 2133 MHz JEDEC profile, I had to toss 6 to the side since they didn't work at all (non-stable).

So, we can get two 8 GB DIMMs at 3200 MHz, 3600, etc, giving 16 GB @ high speeds. That's enough for gaming, no?

Well. Linux benchmarks are also very interesting at phoronix.

The CPU ain't bad. Really solid. Problems will eventually iron out. Currently all boards suck thou.

That an excellent information and news to me. For me I have tried two different set of modules both TridenZ and XMP is a pain. But for now I am playing with timing/freq the old fashion way.

How did you get cpu voltage, are you sure the tool is reporting properly?

That voltage is pretty much what it is on idle but CPU-Z doesn't quite report it correctly.

For example I set mine to 1.4 but CPU-Z shows it as 1.55.

This is my vcore on idle, stock config.

Once overclocked with 1.4vcore, the report from CPU-Z says otherwise.

The AMD Ryzen Master software on the other hand reports it close, but slightly under.

CpuZ is reading off the BIOS setting. AMD software is reading off the CPU sensor.

I got as high as 3600, but it takes a hell of a lot of work to get it stable. Raja@asus said they can only keep it stable with the best of their samsung -b dies.

Both of your cinebenches seem low to me.

What's the Vcore you set in BIOS? (CPU-Z reading may not be accurate).

I don't have that much luck on Crosshair VI Hero as compared to my MSI X370 Xpower.

ROFL.

You still mad because I won't talk to you because you decided while drunk to call my house late at night after my kids were asleep, after I asked you not to, and your girl stood next to you telling you not to? While you were already talking to me on Skype video? Should I post your email apologizing in public like you are taking this, let people judge for themselves? Mad becuase I don't sell you cheap hardware any more and you gotta pay full price? I got nothing to hide. Seems You're still incapable of controlling yourself. Well done.

That's the coolest shit I've seen in weeks on a tech forum!!!

If my chip would have come anywhere near yours, it'd have ben an 1800X and not a 1700X. :p

Really though, currently can't get over 3.7, maybe board swap will help but I doubt it. It's a chip for board reviews anyway, so it doesn't matter much since it seems ram clocks well. :p

The one I was testing posted and booted into windows as high as 3733 (ram), but I could not get 32m superpi stable which means the ram isn't stable. The second 1800X I tried (actual retail chip) could not do 3600, but was fine at 3200 and took less juice to hit 4ghz

Well, at least I got my ram tighter than you did. :p Still working out which sticks are best though.

It'll be interesting to see how that works out of time and more chips get tested. These things cost a fair bit, so binning is too rich for my blood right now. I got a tonne of board reviews to get done, and maybe when done I can spend a bit more time clocking and will buy a new chip (or hopefully before then I can get another from one of the board makers). Gonna turn it to 11 and crank out a bunch ASAP.

I'm still working on Z270 ram clocking FFS. Got a good chip there, got some nice rams too, and it seems that each platform likes different things, so that's nice as it means having a collection of sticks again. You know what that means.... :p

I put literally zero effort into ram timings. Those are actually the timings I was using for 3600-3733 that I was too lazy to fix...

truth be known, me too. That's why it's funny...

It's not hard at all.

(also, I did post with my screenshots saying all I did was enable the XMP profile) :pimp:

Thank you.

I tried even 1.55 but no hopes of 4.1Ghz. Have to up the cooling I reckon.

Yeah, you know, my chip 100W at stock. At 3.7, that jumps up to 174W. So cooling is a big thing when pushing all cores at near max OC.

its looking like the a couple negative reviews are making the stock tank.

Negative News

According to PC Gamer, AMD's much anticipated Ryzen 7 product isn't all it's cracked up to be. Specifically, the AMD's CPUs have been trailing Intel's performance over the past 10 years, and nothing has changed with the Ryzen 7.

See Also: Intel Sets A Low Bar With Disappointing Guidance

PC Gamer argued further argued that the Ryzen 7 offers plenty of power but also an "underwhelming" gaming performance.

"With the huge strides in performance relative to the archaic (in CPU terms) FX-8370 Vishera chip, I expected Ryzen to achieve parity with Intel's X99 processors," PC Gamer wrote. "It gets there in the CPU-centric tests, but falls well short on gaming performance. And I don't really have a good explanation, other than the feeling I keep getting that Ryzen was pushed out the door before it was truly ready."

I would still like to see more performance numbers.
