Greetings all.

I have come across a Intel i7-995x custom PC. It shows in the System Info as a Intel i7 X 995 has 6 cores and its a 3.60Ghz CPU. It came in a black case. No markings on the case. Only thing it does show is a CoolerMaster on the CPU cooler.

I am trying to find a frame of reference on how to price this system. But I cannot find this processor anywhere on for sale. Some are saying that it was never put out. But yet, I have one?.

Can anyone steer me in the right direction?.
Thanks in advance

Did you look on the chip? Maybe it says ES (engineering sample) on it?

NO, I have not done that yet. I went by bios, and the systems info. I will pull the cooler tower today and take a look. What happens if it is a ES?.

i7-995x is a ES model only. I7 995X never came out for sale. ES models are Intels prototype models and/or review parts send out to other people like developers and partners to test and give respons back to intel about things like performence, heat, compability with other hardware/software and so on. They are not ment for resale or sale in the first place.

I7 995X where properly a CPU intel might where thinking on to release but never dit. We got I7 980X the cpu i have now and I7 990X. I7 995X never came out to consumers for sale in mind.

However you came across it ,I hope you didn't buy it.people aren't supposed to sell engineering samples. If I recall correctly at least. There's supposed to be some type of user agreement that they agree to

Well. I opened it up, pulled the cooling tower off of it. NO stamps on it. Nothing. Only thing that was on it was the number E6426 01183
I added some pictures so you could see. I am scratching my head more now that I have done this lol.

This really sucks. I was hoping to resell this computer. I did buy it online. It was donated to the GoodWill and they resold it on their website. Which is where I purchased it from.

No only are they not supposed to sell them, they aren't even supposed to give them away. These are supposed to be on loan to OEM hardware makers and software developers for compatibility testing, demonstrations and the like. When done evaluating, testing, demonstrating, etc., they are supposed to be returned to the manufacturer, or in some cases, destroyed with a certification of destruction being sent back to manufacturer.

There is usually a NDA along with it, further stipulation it should not be sold or otherwise given to a 3rd party.

I would use a program like CPUz and/or Speccy to see what it says it is.

Your right. Heck. Yeah I saw that on eBay. Did a search for ES for CPU's came across a bunch of them. I was wondering why in hell I could not locate this processor anywhere on the web for sale. Now I know. I know the 990x are going for around 400.00 on eBay. I will need to crunch some numbers on all the hardware that comes in this PC.

How many ES's are usually made when they do testing?

Yes just as i already told. I7 995X is ES model only or engineering sample. One that got that ES model back in the days resole it and maybe have been done severel times until it now is in your hands.

Well what i can say is that it is a rare cpu and by that it may be worfh some money to a cpu collector. But i do know Intel is not fond of people selling there ES models.

Even more that its a unmarked ES. Which raises even more questions. Hmm. Well, I do appreciate all the great information everyone. I need to tread lightly on this. Thanks!

It's old hardware now, so don't worry about selling it, it's not like you signed any agreements so do what you want. There will be a lot of people after it, cool chip! ;)

HEH! Phew. Coolio. I slapped it on Craigslist for 1200.00. See what happens lol. Might be stretching it abit. But its not like its a Intel Celeron ES. This is based on the extreme core i7 processors. I almost feel like I should keep it. Might boost my ego abit hehe.

As a reviewer, we typically get these from Intel. Also we typically do not have to return them (some may, our site has never). We are not allowed to sell them or give them away, correct.

Welcome back. ;)

$1200???? Hahahahah, your post is going to end up on this site as a "Look at this price" thread... hahahaha! Its a 6 year old CPU that is well past its prime.

From the CPU-Z screenshot, it looks like a qualification sample which is better than ES (Engineering sample).

Those shouldn't be worth a lot nowadays, but yours may patch a little more.

Should be worth ~$200 chip alone, I'd say.

Reason being, i7-980x worth about $180, add a few more $ for rarity, and I doubt anyone cares if its ES or not now that its 7 years old. A lot of 1366 x58 people jury rig xeons anyway.

edit: 990x worth $200-250ish ebay.

He is somewhat local to me (within the 200 mile max search area Craigslist allows), and I did find the listing. I cannot honestly see anyone buying that booty-box of ancient hardware for $1200, but there is a sucker born everyday!

O Relly. I didn't get the part that 1,200 was paid for this and some hardware included.

I wholeheartedly agree with the unpaid babysitter. There is a new babyshitter born every day, I guess.
