You mean the 1366 one over the 1150 no?
My bad typo, I have reflashed the 1150 Mhz bios (I kept a backup) over the 1340 Mhz, since the 1340 Mhz BIOS is freezing the computer whenever I run a benchmark. Weird because the 1366 Mhz Bios works just fine. I hope it doesnt destroy the card though.

Also, any insight on what really happened on my first card?

Basically it was the same process, I flashed the same 1366 Mhz BIOS on it and after a few days,
I was playing a game, normal temperatures (65 - 75 celsius), and suddenly shutdown. After that, the system will not boot properly.
GPU LED and Fans will show a glimpse of power for a fraction of a second (won't even spin) but nonetheless no POST or no power at all.
When you remove the card, the system boots properly. The card also did not work on another PC (same outcome, only shows a glimpse of power, no POST)
This makes sure that the problem is only in the card.

But what could have happened to it? Bad and dead card, probably? Bricked? It was very sudden and no signs were showing until it happened.
At that point I still did not realize the Bios switch, so I never had a look at it. The seller just gave me a replacement that I am currently using.

Those modded bios are no good for gaming and will crash /reboot your machine, though it should have booted again after, my thoughts are the vram and timings were set too high for gaming but worked fine for mining and it could have stressed the card too much when you tried gaming on it and killed the card.

Do not use the 1150 bios, that's the modded one use the good stock 1366 bios on both bios positions as you know it works.

But the time it crashed, I was using the 1366 Mhz bios.
Currently I'm using the 1150 Mhz bios, (i replaced the 1340 Mhz bios that was causing problems) in fear that it may not handle the higher clock speeds.

That was the first card that crashed was it not? Ss both switches in gpuz so we can see what you're running on both bios positions

Yes, yes. The first card crashed while playing on 1366 (originally at 1085) and has been returned ever since it broke.

This card, the replacement, is what we are operating in. These are my two BIOSes. I'm currently using the 1150 mhz.

if the temps are good and the card is stable with the 1360 bios, you should be fine. I don't think it would change the longetivity of the card. If it's blown up, it's blown up, if it's not, it shouldn't happen with "stock" speed.

The 1360 bios was causing problems, freezing the computer if I run benchmarks. The 1366 doesn't, which is weird.

The 1150 is the mining bios you should flash the working 1366 bios which is a stock bios for your card on the 1150/2100 position as the vram is overclocked and likely the timings have been changed as well, not too mention you're running - 200mhz on the core so losing performance of you're gaming on that bios, you also risk it crashing again due to the vram clock and timings

Contact HIS, give them all info requested for bios files.

If the card cannot handle the stock clock speeds of 1366/1340 there is something wrong with the card.

I usually replace thermal compound as one step.

I sent a ticket to them and I do not expect I will receive a reply... But I have a new discovery on my searches:
I found this Korean website that includes a user saying he has the original BIOS files and he received it from HIS.
The title of the thread, translated by Google is "HIS RX580 It is the original ROM of Hynix".

I will try to get a copy of the two attached files.

EDIT:
I am not able to get a copy from the website since it requires a phone number activation from the country.
However, I have looked up the name of the two files, H588SHD1.M80 and H588SHD1.W90

Looking them up, I found a copy already uploaded in Techpowerup.
M80
W90

The M80 BIOS, is clocked at 1150/2100 Mhz. (The default BIOS we originally found at the right-turned switch)
The W90 BIOS, is clocked at 1366/2000 Mhz. (Same BIOS you linked to me earlier)

What do you think about this? Coincidentally, I have both BIOSes flashed into mine after the first page in this thread.

Hmm the way low power is a interesting deal.

I look at it thus way, i guess the 1185 bios you had was a miner and the 1150 you have is a low power one from HIS.

Does the card work correctly in both switch positions?

1150/2100 vram is not stock, as you can see it has been overclocked/modded for mining and inspecting it on TPU as I confirmed above the timings have been modded for mining and will crash on you in gaming the other is the stock oc profile and you sould use that on both switchews until at least you can get the official quiet bios from HIS

I thought of the same! The 1085 BIOS is probably the miner's edit. But we found it flashed at the left side earlier, right?
So far, yes, the card works fine in both switch positions.

Does the BIOS positioning, whether left or right, affect anything?
It seems that the GPU-Z will put values in "Default Clock" and "GPU Clock" according to the position, although I'm not sure.

No. Look at the vram timings.

I'd say in his situation download the 2 he found on the tpu database (W80, W90) and flash those.

He can use low power for daily and high clock for gaming

Since you have both 1150 and 1366 in, just leave it alone. Just game on 1366 only

I have a question:
Does the BIOS switch position matter at all?
Currently, I have it in the right, which should be 1366 Mhz, but the GPU-Z shows this in the GPU Clock.

Capture.PNG

The GPU Clock tooltip mentions that this should be the current selected option, but only the Default Clock changed when I flip the switches.

Alright. I assume I should exchange the BIOS positions, so I'll flash the 1150 to the other one?

To be clear,
current setup is Left = 1150/2100, Right = 1366/200
that means I will reflash both to exchange their positions?

No, flash 1366 to where 1366 is and 1150 to where 1150 is.

As ive said numerous times without any acknowledgment, the 1150 bios is not a stock bios for your card if you want to keep it on there that's fair enough though I am fairly certain it will crash for you sooner or later due to the overclocked vram and reduced timings, don't use that 1150 bios for gaming, as the 1366 one works for you use that as primary, contact HIS for the stock bios which should be 1340/2000 and call it a day.

The 1340 Bios was causing problems for reasons unknown, it will freeze the PC and crash the AMD drivers whenever I try to run benchmark applications.
Is the 1340 Bios here valid? The 1366 Bios is just fine but not the 1340.

I understand that and have suggested instead of keeping the 1150 bios on there which has overclocked vram to 2100 and reduced timings for mining, put the good 1366 on both bios and contact HIS direct for an official 1340/2000 bios. Though it probably doesnt matter all that much as you have the correct 1366 bios on there personally I just wouldn't want to run that modded mining bios (1150/2100) as a backup.
