Can i use this differentSLI patch on a Tesla M2090 (GTX580, no video out GF110 Fermi2.0) and a fake ebay 1050 repaired to GTS 450 rev2 (GF116 Fermi 2.0)?
The tesla officialy not support SLI but it has sli connector and can switchable to WDDM mode.

It's a very unusual combination and SLI on cards without video out often had been disabled by nVidia, so you would have to try to find out. That would be using the old method with the 3xx driver.
But in any case, SLIing these cards is not worth it anyways, since the performance difference is too big and the result would be worse than just using the 580 alone (GPU passthrough).

Thanks for the answer! The tesla thing is new for me, it was cheap (29 USD), and i like to experiment with old high end and unusual pc parts. (i dont know how to do gpu passtrought yet)
I really want to know how to make tesla card usefull for gaming. (yes i know it is not for gaming)

Can someone just post the actual different sliauto the actual 1.7.1 version because Everytime I click the one someone posted it's not that version as they claim it's the 1.6.1 version I've done all these steps over and over followed Linus even followed the steps on here and I just keep getting it's running in win10 mode then aborts saying it's missing patch #4 so if someone would post the right download and not 1.6.1 that would be great I'm trying to sli my 2 gtx 1060 cards and can't because of that issue I keep seeing your not using the right version well we can't if the right version isn't posted!

  • Except that for patching nvlddmkm.sys you no longer use DifferentSLIauto.exe, but have to modify a series of bytes using a hex editor:
    For 417.35: From address 002BB52F onwards change '75 05 0F BA 6B 24 0E' to 'C7 43 24 00 00 00 00'
    For 417.71: From address 002BBFCF onwards change '75 05 0F BA 6B 24 0E' to 'C7 43 24 00 00 00 00'
  • This new patch does no longer allow for SLIing different card variants of the same architecture. Instead of 'SLI with different cards' you might call it now 'SLI on any MoBo'
in 3009#

Ok I've even modified the file and still didn't work ok so is there an actual tutorial video that can show how to fully walk through the steps on how to set it up

If you actually did what I recommended and followed the links, you would also have found a link to the 1.7.1 patcher

This is the easiest way to get SLI working fully and I'm on the latest driver 431.36 and running two GTX 1060 6gb running quake 2 rtx but use this guide follow exactly what it says and in HxD go to search then find and type in under hex something it's the second tab set it to all and type in 84C075050FBA6B and replace all of those offsets with then replace with C7 43 24 00 00 00 00 and keep following what he says you might get a blue screen but after that you are good to go after the blue screen and reset it didn't do it again to me and I'm getting between 38 to 52 fps on quake 2 rtx this is my alternative to Ray tracing and it works! I'll post screenshots of mine working in SLI and running quake 2 rtx and benchmark. Remember I made this work properly and if you follow all the steps I told you to follow you can get stuff like this running also. In quake 2 rtx set the field of view in the settings to 105 or 110, the resolution scale to 50, global illumination to low, and you can set the video mode to 1920x1080@60 and you're golden. Your settings should like mine in the pic I posted.

I personally wouldn't play around with using a driver like that... I never got a blue screen hacking the driver. I recommend just going with ver. 430.86 and using the confirmed offsets. 6 or 8 months down the line you might start having stability issues and not remember about this.

I've noticed after a few days, for whatever reason my driver stops working, and my computer stops detecting the GPU as an Nvidia card and my resolution goes to crap.

Has anyone got a fix for this problem?

Perhaps Windows is automatically updating the drive?

Assuming it was patched correctly that shouldn't happen. I have experience that same exact issue but only when I use the same NVME for both booting from bare metal as well as booting from a VM (Windows detects a hardware change and ends up reinstalling stuff which sometimes leads to the GPU not being initialized properly - usually the driver remains patched and rebooting fixes it). If I recall correctly that happened regardless of using the original driver or the modified one.

i have a 770gtx and a 660ti both are GK104 and both are 2gb, i have tried many older drivers with the auto patcher and also the hex edit on the 430.86, i tried to use the install.cmd and changed the file location in there, also tried to go into safe mode and copy the files directly, i am not getting any error messages other than in install.cmd says in the last line that "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process." but that does not happen in safe mode, anyway no matter what i do the damn sli option wont show up, is there a simple step i am missing? any ideas?

IIRC , the last working driver for Win 7 is 388.71 with Patch 1.7.1

For installing on Win 7 you have to modify 'install.cmd' by replacing all instances of
%SystemRoot%\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nv_dispi.inf_amd64_7209bde3180ef5f7\
with
%SystemRoot%\System32\drivers\

Newer 4xx patches are for Win 10 only, since the volunteers in this forum are no longer able to support Win 7.

All that DifferentSLIauto does is basically unlock the SLI button for you. Whatever happens after you enable SLI, is at the mercy of the driver itself. In some cases everything runs fine, in others the whole thing crashes, mostly dependent on the hardware combination used in that case. Besides from putting the cards in different PCIe slots, there's probably not much you can do.

does it matter how the bridge is connected, as in which side is up?, i am running windows 10 so i cannot use any newer driver than 388.71?
i find it strange that it would not work because the cards are so simular, i have a asus p8z77 v deluxe with a 3770k and some ribbon bridge from asus but not sure it came with the motherboard

With the launch of the RX 5700 XT, having good price/performance but lacking crossfire, could this trick be used with these cards to have four of them working together?
