At the top of the mainstream stack, the MEG X570 ACE is competing in a tough bracket. With 2.5 Gb/s LAN, WiFi 6, and a VRM that is both sophisticated and overbuilt, the X570 ACE has a lot going for it. So does the competition, however, which is why MSI armed the ACE with a secret weapon: a heat pipe connection between the chipset and VRM heatsinks.

You cant be serious with this comparison, right?

sort of??

because they are both 6c|12t. One would of thought tat 7nm would eat less power than 32nm. Im guessing im absolutely wrong?

My G3258 did 6.3 GHz on 1.9v? Can I compare? :)

You cannot compare CPUs like that, so no, your comparison is invalid.

My buddy @phill has a 5960X that does 4.8 at 1.2v, so that makes yours a terrible CPU, right?

On topic: Great board with a lot to offer. I think that MSI knocked it out of the park with this one. :D

that G3258 is a 2|2 and the 5960X is an 8|12 so no - your comparison is completely wrong. Im comparing between 6c|12t chips.

Have you checked power consumption levels of Ryzen in the reviews? A 12 core 3900X uses less power than an 8 core 9900K. Plus your 3930K's TDP is 25W more than the 3900X which has twice as many cores.

I dont care about that though. My comparison is between a 3930k and a 3600X

Never mind that they're built on different processes... they're totally different in terms of architecture, design and just about anything and everything you can think of. No, you cannot compare.

It's an apples and oranges thing. Voltage != power consumption, though 1.45 V is more than I would recommend anyone run 24/7.

It is very typical for clock speed to decrease on a new process node. As the manufacturing is refined, you will see incremental clock improvements in refreshed generations. The fact that this new generation of Ryzen CPUs actually have slightly better clock speeds than the old Ryzen is a testament to how well the chiplet approach works for better binning and yields.

The point is you cannot compare clock/voltage just because it’s a six core cpu. They are different architectures, therefore a 3930K doing more GHz at less voltage means nothing compared to a Ryzen doing less speed for more voltage. And funny that you bring it up, it would be sad if a 250$ six core cpu beats an overclocked 500$ six core cpu. So don’t compare CPUs like that. Some CPUs like the R7 3700X need 1.3V for 4.2 GHz while an i7-6900X needs 1.43V for 4.2 GHz. Not comparable. What IS comparable, however, is IPC*clock speed/voltage, in which Ryzen should win, by a big margin (vs 3930K).

Two things I like on this motherboard: 1 the M.2 heatsinks are easly (and individually) removable; 2 the chipset fan is positioned lower down the motherboard, away from the GPU on the first PCI-E.
@Black Haru you say: "The chipset fan is under a brushed metal plate. The plate is stuck on with adhesive" do you mean that small pinkish square? Is that how the plate holds to the PCB? No screws?

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
oh ... the price is not that high, well MSRP .... i guess i can find one for 100$ more with my luck ... because if she was 369 in chf at my retailer that would place it in the "slightly expensive X470" price range ...

you say: "The chipset fan is under a brushed metal plate. The plate is stuck on with adhesive" do you mean that small pinkish square? Is that how the plate holds to the PCB? No screws?
he meant the aestethic plate that COVER the FAN and heatsink ;) imho, although it seems quite logical that heatsink would not be put on a chipset with only a thermal pad (which is clearly not adhesive)

which enable me to follow with the following (...) those complaining about fan on heatsink ... are clearly too young (no offense) ...
and nope ... those fan should not be noisy ... my SuperMicro H8DCE , DFI Lanparty NF4-UT or MSI K8N Neo 2 chipset fan weren't noisy (or evolved as the one we have on the X570 ) why would a modern one be Noisy, plus it look delightful to have them back :D

ok ok the argument of the "well, the chip is made on a smaller node than those antiquities from before, so it should output less heat thus not needing a fan" is semi valide ... but i don't see the issue either ;)

probably none, since it's not an issue ...

ah how i miss the time where literally every high end mobo had a fan on the chipsets (even on north at the time also )

Everything looks good except that I have seen that this board produce 41 dB(A) from the chipset fan under load, I think that's just too much for me.

strange ... never had any issues with previous mobo with fans (which where legion at the time ) in a case the fan was not audible even at full tilt

nonetheless i am sure user would experience things differently than that review ... (where is the actual noise... rather than just number charts, pretty please?) specially in a closed case... plus measured at 10cm? wow ... i should play more often with my head inside my case

fan are not an issue. that's all

people that want silent pc's would not need a X570 anyway ;)

My computers are all water cooled and High-end running on full load all day so I could absolutely \need\ a X570 set up.
But I agreed that a measurement of 41 dB(A) does not say everything, it depends on more things like how the measurement was done, the pitch
and variation but 41dB(A) is at least a worrisome who at least stopping me from go and buying this board right a way.

Except the temps are low enough you can keep the fan off at idle.

luckily i already did clarify that ... :p but now that the reviewer confirm it ... i can confidently rest in peace
he meant the aestethic plate that COVER the FAN and heatsink ;) imho, although it seems quite logical that heatsink would not be put on a chipset with only a thermal pad (which is clearly not adhesive
ofc i wrote imho ... but i was 100% sure, as it was logical ;)

Thanks.
Yes, that complicates fan replacement/cleaning.
nothing a heat gun could not solve
