We are just a few weeks away from the launch of NVIDIA's latest GeForce RTX 3060 graphics cards based on the new Ampere architecture, and there is already some news regarding the lineup position and its possible distortion. According to multiple sources over at Overclocking.com, NVIDIA is set to re-introduce its previous generation GeForce RTX 2060 and RTX 2060 SUPER graphics cards to the market. Once again. The source claims that NVIDIA is already pushing the stock over to its board partners and system integrators to use the last-generation product. So far, it is not clear why the company is doing this and we can only speculate on it.

The source also claims that the pricing structure of the old cards will be 300 EUR for RTX 2060 and 400 EUR for RTX 2060 SUPER in Europe. The latter pricing models directly competes with the supposed 399 EUR price tag of the upcoming GeForce RTX 3060 Ti model, which is based on the newer Ampere uArch instead of the last-gen Turing cards. The possibility for such a move is a possible scarce of GA106/GA104 silicon needed for the new cards, and the company could be aiming to try and satisfy the market with left-over stock from the previous generation cards.

I can't see a lot of 2060's being sold at those prices.

Let's hope AMD to do the same with Polaris cards. More old stuff in the market, more NEW old stuff in the market at reasonable prices with full warranty, will push prices of NEW generation cards lower. Also it will force people selling old stuff at ridiculous prices, to come to their senses. Many try or manage to sell old cards at the prices they bought them 2-3 years ago, if not at even higher prices.

You do have a point. Retailers will try to push prices of those 2060s higher than 299 and 399. But still, more stuff in the market will lower prices faster than what we can hope for today.

Supposed retail for 3060 of €399 is fake, it will quickly increase to €500+

Nvidia with partners are increasing prices like crazy and blaming higher price of components.

IT IS A LIE, there is no way all components have gotten even close to 50% more expensive since release.

This week they are increasing the prices like crazy of all cards, 3060 Ti, 3070, 3080, 3090 to tackle the shortages.

The cheapest 3080 at release that costed €775 now has a price of €1150 and these prices are from all nvidia partners at the exact same time.

3090 gone from €1700 to €2300, 3070 from €560 to €800, 3060 Ti from €475 to 650. All cards pushed upwards in price.

The REAL reason behind the price increase is they want to force prices so high for 3080 and 3090 cards that people instead go for the cheaper cards that is easier to supply.

I got this from a friend today that works at Sweden's largest computer retailer.

He said he never seen any thing like this, all nvidia partners sending new very high prices for all cards at the same time.

Hate to break it to you but the same stores that are charging €1000 for 3080 charge the same for 5700XT now.

2060 super cannot be compared to 3060Ti. For the same price?

This makes 0 sense. Either information is incorrect, or this is some sort of fake.

It won't work like that, not in the current state. Those cards will show up overpriced by at least 20% and will be gone the same second they appear online. Current gen will remain at low stock with inflated prices.

Prices of second hand cards don't make any sense either. I don't know how things are in US, UK, France, Germany or other countries, but in Greece even second hand 3-5 year old cards had gone ridiculously up. For example SECOND HAND 1660 selling for 300 euros when it was costing 200 euros NEW a couple of months ago. A 1070 for the same price.

It won't work like that, not in the current state. Those cards will show up overpriced by at least 20% and will be gone the same second they appear online. Current gen will remain at low stock with inflated prices.
It DOES work that way. You can't expect scalpers to buy everything is thrown in the market. At one point it will be financially impossible or risky.
The more products in the market, the faster prices will come down.

Or see it another way. Let's say that a retailer gets 100 2060s. That means that 100 customers will exit the store with a 2060, meaning than 100 30X0 cards can go to other customers. Or scalpers who will start seeing that the interest for new 30X0 cards is weakening, because people end up buying new 20X0 cards that find enough for them. And about this last one. Somone who is upgrading for example from a GTX 770, to a 2060 will be more than OK. There are many out there with pretty old cards and even more who will happily buy the 2060 ignoring the existence of 3000 series or 6800 series.

I feel a bit guilty for not being mad at the RT and tensor core being available on consumer hardware. If ray tracing in games is still overhyped, ampere design is really great for pre calculated 3D, even the 3060TI can beat the 2080ti in rendering, because of those second gen RT core. If Nvidia hadn't been so cheap on the memory the whole line could have been awesome as prosumers GPUs.

Nvidia is a shit company but their products are too good in that fairly uncompetitive market

Its not the scalpers that will keep the stock near zero, its the new wave of crypto mining.

Good, good. The more alternatives there are, the lower the price. Anyone who thinks the prices are not reasonable should visit their favourite etailer, there is absolutely nothing at that price range right now.

I completely abandoned idea of upgrading my 1080 and the rest of pc until prices get in a ballpark of normal. Instead I’m simply enjoying backlog on current hardware as it runs fine and checking some new stuff on Series X with game pass. It’s not worth paying €600 for 3060ti with mere 8gb, when a €500 console is a complete system with graphics around 3070 level.

Newegg Canada has nothing, has had nothing for weeks if not months.

I will pass on the 2060, thanks but no thanks. Yes I know its better then what I have but..

If I wanted a 2 year old card with a markup I would buy one used locally :D

Ngreedia at it's finest. Lets sell again old cards at the same price while 3060 will be cheaper than 2060 super, haha. But, yeah, almost forgot. They will cost now around 600 euro or even more. :)
