If manufacturer pricing increases, every pricing increases along with it. Distributors will charger more, retailers and etailers will charge more and in turn scalpers will charge more.

Brave new world where a midrange graphics card will cost about 2-3x the price of a next-gen console system.

To be fare, that GeForce Now service seems evermore attractive by the day...

Everyone who has a current gen GPU won't need to upgrade for years. Given all the BS involved in buying PC parts, it makes no sense to upgrade in the future unless prices come down, or gains are huge. Until those things happen, let them waste their time and money designing new stuff people can't buy, or don't want to.

So you're saying this whole situation was started by Nvidia so they could push their GeForce Now service. Gotcha. Nvidia is to blame. You said it!

Haven't said anything like that. Why do you lot always have some twisted angle on everything I'll never know...

I merely stated that instead of buying midrange graphics cards north of 800€ you might as well just get a GFN subscription and play on that if you have decent enough internet for €10 per month till this whole ordeal goes away on the GPU market. If it never recovers then PC gaming is done in it current from...

Here's a thought, don't buy the damn things, I won't!
Not planing on...

Unless I can snag a reference 6700 XT from the German AMD DirectBuy store from one of the drops trough a friend I'll be sitting pretty on GTX 1080 that has been kindly lent to me.

I'm sure as heck wont be paying 2-3x MSRP for anything that ain't food, water of heating in the winter. Here in Hungary I'm already paying 27% VAT over MSRP pricing, that being said if really need something badly I would probably pay another 20% precent on top of that if it was needed for work. Anything beyond that is the the effit territory....

NOOOOO I NEEED TO CONSOOOOM PRODUCT!

People lose their minds over every price hike, JFC. You can tell based on who whines the most those who dont remember 2006, or 2014. GPU prices fluctuate, they'll come back down as demand and supply normalize. Always happens. If only the PC was backwards compatible with 25+ years of games that can be played on a literal potato these days......

This problem is going to last while Ethereum remain above 100$, and a huge fall is not going to happen.
Actually I just ask myself : in how much time I can cover the gap over MSRP selling my stupid coins ? I'm not a miner but I don't want to pay extra for nothing.

I ran a few number, and it would take around 3-4 months of mining 24/7 to make 400$ easy, even with high prices on energy. Ethereum is so high it doesn't matter anymore, it's an optimization.
So basically :
- You buy a 750€ RX 6700 XT => 750€ easy to find in europe in the biggest online and 100% legit resellers, you can order all day long.
- you Mine like 12h a day (sleep + work average)
- you cash out every 50€ so you don't get impacted by traders
- in a matter of 6 month, you made 300€ and are back at MSRP
- quit mining and stop polluting for nothing

This is clearly sad to make plans like this but it works, it's safe (pretty much), and you don't have to mine for the rest of your life. The fact is you "help" by mining : other miners will start to get less money (it's negligeable at our scale).

I don't know if it's the best thing to do, but I'm searching for 3 months now, and I came to the conclusion that fighting bots to get one of the few GPU produced AND getting in our store is a lost cause.
It's also pretty close to a RTX 3070, so, even if I wish to have a 6800, it's going to be a 6-month fight I'm not ready to take this way.

I figure they can do what they like. I have stopped buying 'new' GPUs and have moved to the 2nd and 3rd hand markets to get mine. The pricing on cards today is just out of this world ridiculous. Happy to wait and pickup used gear down the road.

Look, miners make 100x their capital investment on these GPUs, it's only right that GPU manufacturers get at least 75% of that profit. These GPUs should be $5,000 each for the time being until Cryptocurrency settles down. Gamers are not the main costumers of GPUs for now, if you're a gamer do NOT buy.

As much as it sucks you can't blame them really, why should scalpers or the middlemen make all the profit.

They will bring back the government in their business. This market needs to be regulated.

Even if doesn't make sense at first, buying 2nd hand GPU, is mostly buying used mining GPU, so you're making them richer. Buying brand new GPU is a loss since prrice are inflated but it's a profit they won't make, and a card they they won't resell in 2 years.
What MSI is doing is very cruel for gamers, because we want to have those GPU, but we can't because they are worth 2-4k depending on GPU. And it's going to last for a long time. Energy is not impacting the bills anymore, so they can just mine, selling, buy more GPU, and continue.

If you are a gamer don't buy an old one right now, it's the worst you could do.
I agree that miners are making huge profit, and it's going to settle down. But not for the next 2-3 years at least.
Not buying those GPU is giving them all of it, because they will if they can.

So MSI is saying that they think the market is about to recover and they need to price gouge while they can?

Benchmark Scores 3050 scores good 15-20% lower than average, despite ASUS's claims that it has uber cooling.
Puzzling part is AMD nearly matching NV supplies (at least on mindfactory), despite major available capacity gap Samsung vs TSMC...

thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!!

used graphic card price rise to ......

if you want to play there is xbox serie X 5700 XT + 20 % SSD 1TO for 500

if you want to work : the price is not important its professional product : HT tax , or the price is for your society ... or cut off the benefit

series X is significantly more powerful (52 rdna2 CUs) than 6700xt (40 rdna2 CUs), let alone 5700xt (40 rdna1 CUs) you mentioned. It’s a beast of a gaming device for merely 500 and in current situation.

I've been seriously considering ditching PC gaming and this is only helping me think it's the right decision. I could switch over to Linux and leave the Windows gaming behind. Maybe get a new console to occasionally scratch that itch.

Unfortunately for me, I live in the US outside of the major metropolitan areas, so even that's not an option for me because of terrible broadband service. The best option I have (and only until Starlink becomes a reality) is a fixed wireless provider that charges $89 a month for 10mbps down 2mbps up with a monthly cap.

As much as I don't like the idea of game streaming services, I'd probably go for it if I could at this point. I sure as hell can't afford to upgrade like I had planned at this point.

I'm pretty sure everyone is hiking their GPU prices right now not just MSI
I won't buy MSI anymore because of their prices. It's EVGA only from now on.
The top model air cooled 3080 from EVGA is $880
The bottom tier model from MSI is $1,070. Now they're going up more? MSI can suck it till they choke.

I've been seriously considering ditching PC gaming and this is only helping me think it's the right decision. I could switch over to Linux and leave the Windows gaming behind. Maybe get a new console to occasionally scratch that itch.
Oh yeah you think you gonna get your hands on a console now? Lol

I feel if there is no need to upgrade/ replace, then best to avoid buying any hardware now. I guess GPU makers noticed that the earlier price hike did not make much of a dent to demand, so they are back for more. Basically it seem to me that they are selling less, so looking to charge more to offset the lost in revenue & profit.

series X is significantly more powerful (52 rdna2 CUs) than 6700xt (40 rdna2 CUs), let alone 5700xt (40 rdna1 CUs) you mentioned. It’s a beast of a gaming device for merely 500 and in current situation.
Can't really compare it this way though. The GPU in the Xbox Series X have beefier specs for sure, with more CUs and a wider 320 bit memory bus, but the RX 6700 XT makes up the difference with clockspeed. There is a tight power budget for consoles, so both the CPU and GPU don't clock as high as what we see in a desktop. But I do agree that the Xbox Series X is actually a great deal for the USD 499 MSRP even on paper where the RTX 3070 by itself cost at least USD 499 when it was first launched.

Congrats, over here every EVGA model I've seen when I was searching for my 3070 was overpriced.

Mind you even EVGA did raised their prices but yeah nowhere near to the same extend with the likes of ASUS and MSI . I have been lucky enough to secure a 3080TUF at a somewhat decent price for the European market ( which is even more Fed up ) but if i had to pick one manufacturer right now it would certainly be EVGA !
