Logitech engineered Logi Bolt to conquer IT challenges that can emerge whether users occupy the office or work remotely.
  • Security: Delivers a secure level of wireless connectivity for wireless peripheral connectivity for Logitech mice and keyboards with Bluetooth Low Energy Security Mode 1, Level 4, when paired with a Logi Bolt USB receiver, also known as Secure Connections Only Mode and is Federal Information Processing Standards compliant.
  • Robust Signal: The Logi Bolt USB receivers also provide a strong, reliable, drop-off-free connection up to 10 meters (33 feet), even in congested wireless environments, with up to eight times lower average latency in many cases than other commonly deployed wireless protocols in congested, noisy enterprise environments.
  • Great Compatibility: Logi Bolt devices are more universally compatible than most leading peripheral brands on the market. Anyone else notice that Logitech updated its MX Master software today and I now have a new process call "LogiBolt" constantly using cpu! Mmmmm - does not bode well!

I avoid the logitech bloatware and hope this isn't a way to force it in. It seems the idea is to improve upon the original unifying receiver that got some security flaws that logitech never fixed (supposedely the newer ones are fixed but the anything with about 1 year and older is vulnerable)

Bluetooth and security in the same sentence? Nope!

I mean bluetooh migth be bad but so are the random 2.4ghz receivers that no one validates. I see this a half good half bad, good by using a standard and being logitech having a big market share ends up under more scrutiny (in this case seems they are even aiming to comply with security standards), half bad because why do we need an exclusive bluetooth dongle when the computer already has a bluetooth receiver!? I guess the receiver is hardened at least but then why rely on bluetooth? Wouldn't generic 2.4ghz provide better latency and more flexibity for security since it avoids the entire bluetooth stack?

That is the whole point! There are no commercial short range, low energy, secure-by-design Bluetooth alternatives! Sadly...

I'm assuming that it's down to not having to write all of their own software (versus modifying existing), compatibility with a common standard (the peripherals can use bluetooth, just not with full security) and likely easier hardware supply chain.
