Hi,
I know this sounds like a dumb question but i want to know if it is really working correctly..
This is what it shows:

It shows up PERFECTLY in device manager without any issues and says it's working properly..

So, with all that said (and forgive me i have a learning disability and cannot explain things very well either..)
how can i test to see if it is working because i have an old R9 270X JUST as a display and the TITAN as a backup (because i want to play games and maybe eventually mine on it at one point.. lol)

Can someone please help me with this situation??

GPUZ shows that it's detected on both cards but (this sounds kinda funny i know) it doesn't show all of the statistics on the titan but does on the R9???

Lol someone help and i hope you can understand my situation and help me..

Thank you soooo kindly for ANY help!

Hi, welcome to TPU where we welcome everyone of all races, creeds and abilities. :toast:

It sounds to me like it's actually working properly, so the best thing to do is remove the R9 and see how the PC boots up, plays games and how the GPU-Z stats look. I see that info from both cards is missing too, with them showing as 0MHz in various places. I'll bet that running one card at a time will show the proper stats for each one, so try that. As it is, you have two sets of video drivers which could be subtly interfering with each other.

Finally, TPU has an area in your profile where you can add your system specs. This looks cool and helps us to help you better. :)

I really appreciate the warm welcome and love your pic rofl!

Well when i JUST use the titan it shows some artifacting and everything is HUGE and gives a code 43 error... :"'/ i really hope i can still use it..

By the way do you know where i can find the driver to where you right click and it shows nvidia control panel? lol

edit:
i kinda want to leave the R9 as it is and use the titan for the physics processor and games... that's why i need the control panel :)

That artifacting and code 43 sounds like it might indeed be faulty, unfortunately.

You can get the NVIDIA driver from the link below. It's the all-in-one version that doesn't need the Microsoft Store for the all-important control panel.

The hugeness could just be Windows scaling is off, but let's get it working properly first and then worry about that.

And yeah, that pic still cracks me up after several years now.

Right, I see you're on Windows 7. I strongly recommend upgrading to W10 if you can as that old, now unsupported OS can be the cause of lots of problems, including corrupted displays and funny error codes like you're seeing.

Whatever you do, DON'T flash that VBIOS! You could well brick the card permanently or cause other problems. Have you already flashed the BIOS before you posted here?

Tagging @eidairaman1 so he can add his tuppence worth on this. He's our resident BIOS flashing expert.

does having a AMD and Nvidia GPU installed at the same time, meaning both drivers must be present, is that kinda sorta problematic?
I've never done that in a Windows OS. I WAS doing it for a while on macOS system using a GT120 and a RX 580 but that is a very different situation

I would have done the same thing, just install the Titan and see what it does. If it acts all screwed up with artifacts and has errors in device manager then there is something wrong with the card or the Nvidia drivers are borked and need a clean install of said drivers. I'm leaning towards the card is whacked because I've had stability issues due to borked drivers, like a game/system just crashing outta nowhere.....but artifacts have always been because of either over pushed overclocked video memory or a failing GPU in my experience.....I've never been able to blame (and prove at that) drivers for artifacts.....don't shoot the messenger lol

oh you said "everything is huge" makes me think the Nvidia drivers are not really there....makes me think of when you do a fresh install of Windows and it will boot up to whatever default resolution of something like 1024x768, making the UI likely a lot larger than you are used to. it would suggest the Titan could be just using "microsoft basic display adapter". once the drivers are installed yes, you should be able to right click on the desktop or open the Nvidia control panel in any method. if you cannot access it, makes me think it's not really installed. You should be able to just type "Nvidia" into the Windows search bar.....does it come up that way?

I didn't even spell it right ("Nvida" lol) and it still came up for ex

Personally I would use just the Titan as having a card from both manufacturers can cause problems. It's faster than the 7870/270X anyway.

i think i will.. (stick with the titan it is SO much better in many different ways as you stated.. ) :D

so i JUST installed windows 10 will update the drivers now.. :)

Thank You All For The Continued Support!

I really appreciate it! :D

Another weird thing is that it runs better and more stable (no crashes or blue screens of death) on windows 7 rather than windows 10?

I like 7 anyways lol..

Could another problem be because i haven't updated windows 7??

Thank You Once Again!

On windows 7 you can always try an older driver version package like 399.xx
On windows 10 , you can also, but windows 10 will by default try to update to the latest driver.
So if you want to keep the older driver on windows 10, you need to disable the automatic driver update.

ok, there's your problem right there. Whatever other things could be messing things up like Windows 7, this is right up at the top.

I need to know a bit more about this card now.

Did you buy the card new? If yes, it would be working or you'd just return it for a refund or replacement, so why would you flash it?

Did you buy it used? Did it work when you bought it? Tell us the history. Why did you flash it?

You need to have the original BIOS it came with flashed back to it to have any hope of it working properly. Did you keep a copy of the BIOS before you flashed it originally?

I flashed it because the seller said that the card would not post on windows 10 so i used windows 7 and it showed up after i flashed it.. :/

The odd thing is that both cards show OpenGL 1.1 under Win7. When I install either a R9 280X or GTX 980 with drivers from AMD/nvidia I got DirectCompute and OpenGL 4.6 for both ticked in GPU-Z, and then other features with each its own, and also fillrates and bandwidth are known/displayed.
Perhaps Win7 installed driver via Windows Update... I'd say install drivers manually, either 21-5-2 for amd or 472.12 for nv.

I forgot to add - tick/select the "clean installation" box with both/either. With NVIDIA you select "Custom (Advanced)", then "Perform a clean installation". Similar with AMD drivers.

Perhaps Win7 installed driver via Windows Update... I'd say install drivers manually, either 21-5-2 for amd or 472.12 for nv.

That is because in all cases here the driver is unloaded and it's using vga.sys (the default compatibility driver from MS) instead.

I'll try what you said.. :)

Download display driver uninstaller, run that in safe mode (keep your password, not pin - though on Windows 7 pin did not really exist), remove both of the AMD and NVIDIA drivers and install only the relevant driver (472.12 for NVIDIA, 21.5.2 for AMD) for the GPU presently installed on your system.

If you get code 43, black screens or colorful/scrambled artifacting, dead GPU, nothing you can do about it.

Upgrade to Windows 10/11 as soon as possible, your operating system is no longer sustainable. Windows 7 is extremely obsolete and without the relevant security updates, will not function correctly with newer drivers as they are signed with an authority certificate that it does not understand.

yes i kept the original bios for it and i bought it used :/

I flashed it because the seller said that the card would not post on windows 10 so i used windows 7 and it showed up after i flashed it.. :/
Ok, in that case the card was messed up when you bought it as it should have no problem posting with any OS. They're really expensive, too. :ohwell:

TPU has lots of BIOSes on file, so hopefully the one you need is here. Perhaps it already has the right BIOS now and it's faulty. @eidairaman1 might be able to advise.

Before flashing anything:

If possible, I think you should try a clean installation of W10 with the AMD card, patch Windows and then download the latest NVIDIA driver. Next, install the TITAN and see if you can install the driver and make it work properly.

When installing Windows 10, do this on a different drive to the one with W7 so you can go back if you need to, and unplug all the other drives. This is really important.

Every Titan is a reference card so basically any BIOS would work AFAIK. Some are just with a little factory overclock as for the older Titans, Nvidia allowed AIBs to sell them with their own stickers.

Why would you want to go back to W7? You're just making problems for yourself. Even W10 has been superceded by W11 and won't be supported after 2025.
