AMD RX 6950 XT, RX 6750 XT, and RX 6650 XT Pictured, Launching on May 10

AMD's Radeon RX product stack refresh for Spring-Summer, is reportedly set to launch on May 10, 2022. Here's the first picture of what a reference-design RX 6950 XT flagship, RX 6750 XT, and the mid-range RX 6650 XT, could look like. These reference board designs are essentially identical to the original RX 6000 made-by-AMD (MBA) reference designs, but ditch the two-tone silver+black color-scheme for an all-black scheme with some diamond-cut edges around the fan vents, and some piano-black accents.

At this point it is not known if this refresh sees the Navi 20-series ASICs optically-shrunk to the TSMC N6 (6 nm) silicon fabrication node, or if it's the existing 7 nm ASICs with their total graphics power (TGP) values dialed up to make room for increased engine clocks, and faster 18 Gbps-rated GDDR6 memory chips. It's interesting to see the RX 6750 XT now come with a triple-fan cooler that resembles the RX 6800 (non-XT) cooler in design, if not color. We're not sure if the RX 6650 XT reference design will ever make it to the real-world, or if it's just a concept, and the SKU is an AIB-exclusive (custom-designs only).

x600 level is decidedly mid-range, and certainly neither entry level nor low-end. Low end for GPUs is ~$100; entry level is ~$150. The midrange historically starts at $200 and goes up quite a bit. Yes, the entire series is overpriced, and the 6600 non-XT ought to be closer to $200 than $300, but entry level? Not even close. And, of course, this is supposed to replace the XT, one tier above that. This tier essentially replaces the RX 480/580 tier in terms of market position, and those were always mid-range GPUs. Entry/low-end would be an RX 550/560/5500 replacement, which ... well, these are a cut above that. That role falls to the 6500 XT, which is horrendous for its price, but ... it doesn't pull the x600 tier down with it.

Tier wise its really simple guys; x4xx and x5xx are entry, x6 and 7 are midrange, and x8 and 9 are high end. In both camps too. Hasn't changed over the course of ten years I believe, and quite a bit longer too.. As far as decent gaming goes, by rule of thumb on these tiers you get about 0-1 years on entry, about 2-3 years on midrange, and about 4-7 years on high end depending on how high your bar for acceptable is (and assuming the bottom end of acceptable is doable on release). For similar reasons the price range explodes as the years of usefulness do.

RX 6900 XT is enthusiast-tier;
RX 6800 XT is high-end;
RX 6800 is upper mid-range;
RX 6750 XT is upper mid-range;
RX 6700 XT is mid-range;
RX 6650 XT is lower mid-range;
RX 6600 XT, RX 6600 and RX 6500 XT are low-end and something has to be entry level.

I think thats way too much text might as well just name each model then thing is, the differences between skus one place apart in the list are never making or breaking a whole new performance level, but an x60 vs an x80 quite often does, same as the gap between entry and midrange.

Put differently, you might very well move from your 6600XT to an 6800XT to enable a higher resolution across the board, or high refresh. But 6500 > 6600 is virtually pointless.

If you think the skus one place apart are not worth it or somewhat confusing don't even try to look at the nvidia line up with all the vram variations that go down as you move up the stack

But 6500 > 6600 is virtually pointless.

I disagree with this, I prefer very high refresh rate gaming, so I am more than happy to use a 6950 XT with a 1440p 240hz for example.

My guess is $1299 on 6950 XT or $1199. I figure, since I average only 1 gf every 15 years at my current rate, the cost savings from that alone auto pays for a 6950 XT, so I am not too worried about it mate. Game on

seems you just want to be argumentative. sure you can use a 4K/60fps part for 1440/120 or 1080/240hz gaming then go for it.
