This is filled with packing foam and has an upgraded battery from a power bank I found in a trash can.

Today the mouse, decided on a Redragon Griffin on Amazon. $25 shipped.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MR2XHY2
The keyboard will arrive tomorrow. Ended up going with the V9000 set posted in the OP.

This mouse is excellent. It's VERY comfortable for my large hands! It remember DPI and LED settings when unplugged as well, which is really nifty. Nylon braided cord as well. Wasn't expecting that.

Some of the nicest packaging I've ever seen.

Blame the camera for this washed out photo. The thing look beautiful in person!! This mouse kicks the crap out of my Logitech M510.
Except the contours on the sides looks like a Deathadder clone which is an excellent mouse for large hands. Yeah cheap mice have been competent for years. The difference between name brands and no-name brands today is mostly R&D in shape and ergonomics, feature-sets and sensor tuning (even if both cheap and expensive brand use same sensor). And braided cable is nothing special these days. Actually it's frowned upon for mice. Because it makes the cable heavy (relatively) and stiff. Paracord cable is all the rage in the mouse world. If you've got a tinkering hands you could change out the cable yourself.

Oh goodness would that ever drive me bonkers! I have a big thumb and use it to move the mouse around. Would end up pressing buttons unintentionally at the wrong times. The two side buttons that exist on the Griffin have already caused a few accidental problems and I'm tempted to take it apart and glue them in place. I know that not everyone mouses like I do, so for some people that might be a good mouse.
you made the right choice
What swayed my choice was a combination of the reviews(both good and bad) and a friend who told me they bought a similar model a few years ago, was very happy with it and still using it daily.

And braided cable is nothing special these days.
It is for a $25 mouse.
Actually it's frowned upon for mice.
Is it?
Because it makes the cable heavy (relatively) and stiff.
Not this one. Am enjoying it exactly as it is.
If you've got a tinkering hands you could change out the cable yourself.
Nah. I'm fine with it as is.

EDIT:
Deathadder
I just looked that up. Can't see the similarities myself. The finger contours alone are very different.

Update;
The V9000 set arrived and I've had a chance to tinker with it. Here's the review I left over at Amazon;
While this KB&M set isn't going to win any awards, it's good for what it is. The keyboard LED RGB lighting is solid, the keys are comfortable and the extra key work as they should. The volume knob also works well. The first downside to this keyboard is the power button on top and center. It is WAY too easy to accidentally press. As the design keeps it very tall, such a button should be more recessed so it's easily accessed but not easily pressed by accident. I have have modded that button to be recessed and nonfunctional as it was not the key feature I required of the keyboard. I also removed the ugly green paint as that button should have been white like all the other keys. The second downside to the keyboard is a simple one, RGB lighting settings are not saved after a reboot or being unplugged. This can be very frustrating if a custom lighting scheme is desired as it will need to be reset everytime you power on your system. Third is a minor complaint, the volume knob should be further up near the right corner of the keyboard. IT works fine, but kinda needs more room by itself for finger and thumb gripping space.

The mouse is also solid and the DPI settings are good. The main problem with this mouse is that the RGB lighting on the mouse is not user controllable. The scheme set in the factory is what you get. It's not ugly, but not what I would like.

For the price paid the complaints are minor and the performance is good. Key performance is perfect, as is the mouse button clicks. The anti-ghosting seems to work exactly as it should. However, the makers should take note of the problems discussed here and resolve them in a future revision or version of the set, even if such changes raise the price $5 or $10.

See photos below;
Stock photo. Note the ugly green power button center keyboard. It is that ugly and it stood that tall;
V9000-KB&M-185801.jpg

I performed surgery to resolve the problem. Here's what that button looks like now;
V9000-KB&M-190021.jpg

Here's the left over bits from the operation. The keyboard had a microphone for one of it's lighting modes, which didn't work very well. It was removed;
V9000-KB&M-190012.jpg

Lighting in the dark. The colour scheme is a custom one set by me;
V9000-KB&M-185803.jpg

Now in the light;
V9000-KB&M-185817.jpg

V9000-KB&M-185844.jpg

As you can see, the power button is no longer in the way and while looks conspicuous by it's presence, it fits in with the rest of the keyboard. It was rendered non-functional internally by taping over the contacts on the membrane.

Now for the mouse. I performed surgery on it as well.
Before with the pulsing rainbow(shown on purple);
V9000-KB&M-190347.jpg

And after showing only steady red;
V9000-KB&M-190356.jpg

Leftover bits from the mouse operation;
V9000-KB&M-191422.jpg

As you can see, it had a weight. Not a fan of weighted mice, so I removed it. To get the mouse to stay on one colour(red) I cut traces and wired the up the 5v USB line directly to the input line to the red part of the multi colour LEDs(it has 5).

Going to do the same to the keyboard tomorrow as I want the LEDs to come on and stay on in all red. I might wire up the side in green & blue like I've got shown in the photos, but not sure yet. Either way, when power is applied, the lighting will come on and stay on in the scheme I choose regardless of what the LED controller is doing.

UPDATE EDIT;
Having rebooted my pc this morning, I discovered that the keyboard does in fact remember custom lighting settings, but you have to select it after each power cycle. It would be nice if it defaulted to the last setting selected and stayed there until instructed by the user. However, this is a minor annoyance. The keyboard is a joy to type on so it's an annoyance I can live with until I get motivated to replace it.

I've always thought these type of mouse were like what WoW players really liked. What do use all those extra buttons for in your use case? I barely ever make use of the two side buttons on mine lol basically only when playing real time strategy games set in a isometric view point, where you can "drag" the camera around. I like using the side button, or sometimes the middle mouse button for that

Hi,
I use the side buttons mostly for browser functions
Middle click is one of them #2 but often doing it with the wheel it often moves the page and that makes it wonky
The side buttons don't move so it's just a regular click.

I don't use the center buttons much, the top and bottom rows mostly so I narrow 12 buttons to 8 reliable usable buttons
I do use #2 though as noted above more on that is since it's on the front end it's easier to get that one reliably.

I also like having the fire button to seeing that saves wear and tear on the left click button.

I can't stand them. Plastic welded the buttons in place and snipped off the button contact arms to prevent accident navigation. In-browser navigation buttons are there for a reason. IMO, they don't belong on a mouse. I also removed the mouse wheel switch actuator because I can't stand that button being accidentally clicked either. See photo's;

I think you might be missing some scale. It's a large mouse and fit well into my large hands. Very comfortable. It's not going to be my primary mouse, but it'll be a nice backup. My primary mouse was detailed earlier in the thread on page 1.

Hi,
Yeah two behind the wheel, switch the dpi up and down I wouldn't mind killing those myself seeing the new mice don't like dpi changes at all or polling rate either
I just disable those just now forgot I can do that :oops:

Software is pretty cool not sure your mods are needed when software can disable the ones you don't like :/

There's another dpi button on the bottom of the mouse on my version so it's no loss :cool:
Anyway here's the settings on one of my better older m901's that can be altered without messing things up like the newer m901_2 thankfully I only have one of the newer ones.

I think you misunderstood me. The mouse mod I showed above was for the the mouse that came with the V9000 set, which is not Redragon brand. It's "Wolf Totem" brand. Totally generic type of kit. My Redragon Griffin got the same mod with the side buttons plastic welded and weight removed. The LED's work fine for it.

I'm going to look at the software though as it would be nice to lock out any mode I don't want.

Hi,
Yeah I didn't remember the keyboard was bundled with a mouse
I did notice the logo on the mouse was different though

Light breathing feature is also annoying the last settings page shows how to kill it 902_2 software is a little different but still works.

Does your redragon have a dpi button on the bottom to ?

It does. But it's called "Mode Switch". I need to find a manual for this mouse..
Hi,
Okay yeah mine actually say settings switch not dpi
It changes the color of the mouse wheel which is the dpi color I've not noticed a color chart for dpi though.

So after using the V9000 set for a while, decided to go with the Redragon K512 Shiva keyboard and another Redragon Griffin mouse, this time in black as I couldn't find the white version of the keyboard in stock.

Like the V9000 keyboard this one is very comfortable to type on. Key travel is good. But the important point for the purchase, the LED lighting is remembered after each power cycle, so it does not need resetting every time the system is restarted.

I cant believe you had to mod the white set above.

Heres what mine are, the mouse color can be customized. Kone XTD, Ryos MK Pro (cherry mx browns) the mouse felt so much like my MX510 thats why I like it and would suggest it to anyone.

I cant believe you had to mod the white set above.
I'm like that. If something has a problem, I have no fear modding it to suit my needs/liking. For example, I've already taken the Black Griffin mouse apart and plastic welded the side buttons in place and disabled the wheel button. I also switched cables with the White version of that mouse, which I already had. The white one had a black braided cord and the black one had a red braided cord. Now the black one has the black cord and the white one has the red cord. They both look so much better that way.

For me, the RGB was not the selling point so much as just having the illumination for computing/gaming in a dark room. And I wanted red illumination because it's easy on the eyes. Redragon, for me, has earned so loyalty. The overall design and functionality is excellent. The mods I've done are just personal taste, I would not consider them a poor design because a lot of people like having the wheel & side buttons for easier/quicker navigation and a lot of in-game uses. I have huge hands and often hit those buttons accidentally, so I'm the exception rather than the rule.

I'm someone who tries to be as green as practical & possible, I'm all about reusing and repurposing. So I say bravo!
In this case, I will mention GMMK pro or one in they're range keyboard, replaceable keys without a soldering iron, and built to last, it's my next one then for a mouse Roccat Kone pro.

That was a great review you did for Amazon. Also, nice modding work to get those just the way you wanted them.

By focusing on "has to be white" & "must have a volume knob" you limiting your choices extremely. Mouse & keyboard play a crucial role when it comes to ergonomics. They are like shoes. It has to fit.

You could also buy a external soundcard (like a SoundBlaster GC7 or X4, if you mainly game) or a external AMP (like the FiiO E10K Olympus 2) and control the volume from there. The side benefit would be that you get also a better sound quality compared to onboard, of course only if you got some good headphones or loudspeakers.

I also would never buy a membrane keyboard in 2022, it's a tech from the past. You should dig yourself into the mechanical keyboard market. They are even highly customizeable, from switch types (:love: red switches for gaming) to colored aftermarket keycaps (tons to choose, esp. for the US layout, white too). For the mouse I would go with what fits your hand. The Logitech G502 is right now the most selling gaming mouse, fits also big hands. And if you want some white accents just slap a white mouse grip tape on it.

It sure is.

I can't stand them. Plastic welded the buttons in place and snipped off the button contact arms to prevent accident navigation. In-browser navigation buttons are there for a reason. IMO, they don't belong on a mouse. I also removed the mouse wheel switch actuator because I can't stand that button being accidentally clicked either. See photo's;

Just wanted to say one of the switches is broken, before reading your text lol. :laugh: So you broke it on purpose to "deactivate" it. Was there no option in the software?

I think you missed the bulk of the thread, and I understood the limitations that requirement imposed.

That is an opinion. Not everyone likes mechanical.

What software? The V9000 set has none.

Well, there are some full size mechanical RGB keyboards with volume knobs out there. And with the right switches (linear), lubing & dampening you can tune them very silent.

Just saying. ;)

What software? The V9000 set has none.

Ohh, yea that's really bad then. :)

That's why I got the mouse I did to avoid accidental presses. I have to use XL nitrile gloves at work.

It's not that bad. It was a $25 set and at that price a very reasonable value. It's just not got the features of higher tier offerings, but it's still a solid set.
