With that said, I've just ordered a bigger PSU to be a bit more future-proof. I'll probably not use its full capacity, though.

This poll is really old now but I think it's fair to say that out of almost 20,000 votes, people are overwhelmingly against this trend for massively power-hungry GPUs and CPUs that completely disregard performance/Watt.

Hi,
Seems more likely money issues seeing power bill was the largest grip and heat second
So the gpu's and cpu's costing more they'd likely not be buying in that high end product base anyway.

Most of the high end crew voted no I don't care.
Personally the cost of the hardware is harder to get by than power usage especially gpu's
But now I'd add mother boards to because they to are getting stupid priced.

That's not true at all. One can be an environmentalist and be gamer too. To play PC games, even AAA titles, one can use a moderately powerful CPU and GPU. The average PC doesn't use very much power at all. A kitchen refrigerator uses far more power on average. Being a gamer and an environmentalist does NOT make a person a hypocrite. To claim such a notion makes as much sense as a screen door on a submarine.
