NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 Series Could Be Delayed Due to Flood of Used RTX 30 Series GPUs

NVIDIA's next generation of graphics cards, codenamed RTX 40 series, Ada Lovelace, is expected to arrive sometime in October. However, the latest information from the YouTube channel "Moore's Law Is Dead" suggests that NVIDIA could postpone the arrival of the new GPU generation to December. Why, you might be wondering? The report claims that the current GPU market is flooded with used GeForce RTX 30 series GPUs. Thus, NVIDIA could postpone the availability of the latest GPUs to keep the demand high and ensure that the market is searching for additional graphics cards.

Retailers are experiencing smaller demand as the used GPU market is full of devices used for cryptocurrency mining, and the recent crypto crash has helped the situation. What we could see is NVIDIA announcing Ada Lovelace GPUs in October, with availability arriving later in December. Of course, these are just the current industry rumors, and we are yet to see how the market and NVIDIA will respond.

AMD went through twice with regards to pain of crypto crash and this time around with nVidia they are really going to suffer worse from looming recession, drop in sales(now that people are allowed to go outside) and crypto crash.

It would not surprize me. For what i have seen, Nvidia have all ready lowered the order of GPU chips from TSMC and with mining GPU flodding the used market. It will take longer for stores to sell out of there current stock. Not helped by inflation on other things and properly lower demand from comtumers from this as well as a likely reccesion in the comimg months. Getting 3000 cards of the market first will also maximize Nvidia profit, cause if all 3000 cards are gone first, nvidia dosent have to sell at a lower price for 3000 cards and with no 3000 cards. 4000 series cards can potentially be sold at a higher cost as well. So makes sence in the view of Nvidia side, prices on 4000 cards will have it´s limit this time also. Inflation, reccesion risk, central banks raising interest rate, crashed mining and much more. Will set a natural lower demand for cards as well as corona lockdown is hopefully a thing of the past now.

Nvidia need to firesale the 3000 series. You can buy them at rrp now but that's for cards that came out years ago now. They should be well below the original prices (which were too high, except arguably for 3080FE and below).

309 for a brand new rx 6600 series is compelling compared to an ABused gpu from either brand

I don't think Nvidia will have a problem announcing RTX 4090 and RTX 4080. Both are faster than any RTX 30X0 model and Nvidia was anyway going to charge quad digit for both of those models. They could delay RTX 4070 further.
AMD was wise to concentrate on EPYC CPUs. They really haven't yet focused on GPUs, so they could just continue doing so, especially considering their limited capacity from TSMC.

The last times it was AMD suffering with 200 and 400 series, because they were too good with crypto, this time it’s Nvidia with 3000 series, because it was better than RDNA2. It’s better that the underdog has to suffer less for once

They have a problem announcing and revealing anything. When 4080 w/ 10240 CUDA ends up being 2.0 faster than 3090 even, because of 50% higher clock and 33% more CUDA than can actually do FP32, unlike the predecessor that had 7680 doing FP32 + 2560 doing INT32, that means 4060 is faster than 3080 costing one third no pun intended. I hope the excessive miners and abusive resellers vicory dance ends up getting run over by a truck. But nvidia needs the money to stay afloat and create new architectures I suppose, we need them, they don't need us.

Proper competition is our only savior. Not two duopolies we've had for almost two decades now (Intel/AMD AMD/NVIDIA).
Duopolies aren’t the case when it comes to GPUs, Nvidia largely did whatever they wanted, just look at 3090/3080Ti and later 3090 Ti prices. A real duopoly in CPUs has significantly lowered prices on the other hand. So it’s already enough, I don’t think a third competitor would do much. AMD needs to have better GPUs than Nvidia, faster in every metric, or else the extreme prices of Nvidia will also never come down. You better hope RDNA3 will be that moment, it’s been long.

Why people keep watching these tech illtreated Youtubers and tech sites reposting them? Moore's Law Is Dead "sources" confirmed Nvidia stopped RTX 30, 3090Ti delayed indefinitely etc. etc. His report is based on Digitimes article. Why repost if new leak showed up?

Is NVIDIA a charity? Every company out there is interested in maximizing its profits, period.

AMD with its kinda insane initial prices for Ryzen 5000 series CPUs and RDNA2 cards is a perfect example
Some people including me just don't like nvidia but what does it have to do with whether it's a charity or not? What's wrong with that some companies are not so disgusting and people like them? It's a company yeah it's true, but even some companies don't like working with nvidia and that's the point.
MSRP for Ryzen 5000 you can only say "kind of" insane. Compared to what Intel has done with pricing 2nd to 7th gen (maybe to 9th) and what AMD did back in the days of Athlon 64 family, Ryzen 5000 are relatively normal, after all its performance is worth that price bump.
Piece.

AMD needs to have better GPUs than Nvidia, faster in every metric, or else the extreme prices of Nvidia will also never come down. You better hope RDNA3 will be that moment, it’s been long.
I think RDNA 3 will be going to make it true, yeah not including CUDA and some nv-expertise functions.
The way RTX 4000 is going is insane, I mean almost desperate. That much power is needed... Can't believe it. CUDA is nv's last trick on their sleeve.

So their true customers were of course whoever would pay the most for a given product. Since Cryoto isn't pushing the limits of their profit they are more than willing to let the market settle so they too get lower costs. Not sure why anyone of either camp would be surprised by this. It's unfortunate for the gamers who have paid a decent price for years to have to put up with a company delaying a product due to a fly by night market and their inflated sense of self worth however.

Intel really has time to shine now, I hope their cards are great at compute and good at gaming.

It’s no problem at all, new Radeon will be coming sooner than GeForce, simply buy it instead if you’re in dire need of new GPU and don’t want old stuff. Don’t make yourself dependent on Nvidia.

Nvidia have shown quite indisputably that they don't care about gamers, so I'm not sure why gamers should be in a hurry to buy the next golden egg that Nvidia lay.

If you have a 3070 or better it's genuinely hard to find titles that don't run well on it. If you ignore the broken mess that is CP2077, buying a faster graphics card than that is just a solution looking for a problem until game developers start really releasing things that need more. The big-budget UE5 games that might fit that bill are 18 months out still...

The sad thing is, even if Radeon is 2 months earlier, I doubt it will be a problem for Nvidia, their mindshare and popularity is still way too strong (and many don’t even know Radeon). Like I said earlier, the gpu market is very much more like a monopoly, Nvidia did whatever they wanted the last years, and they got away with it too.

Nvidia need to firesale the 3000 series. You can buy them at rrp now but that's for cards that came out years ago now. They should be well below the original prices (which were too high, except arguably for 3080FE and below).

Or they could keep prices at their original MSRP's and sell tons of them, delaying 40 series into next year and easing pressure on their development teams for the generations after that. Make more money now, have loads of stock for cards to be at their new (higher) MSRP's next year, and get a few extra months to cook the next cards. The only wild card is if AMD is going to show up to party at the original timeslot or take the chance to join Nvidia in the delay game.

It's not about performance, it's about Mindshare, Nvidia are in the same position as apple, people will buy their products no matter how good the underdog is. It isn't so bad to me, I can buy the best product for a lower price
