Oh damn.

Just wondering that how the Chinese have this many GTS 450s..
Mining, they can buy old chips and put them on pcb

Rarely happens on radeons, i have seen probably 2 or 3 Radeons that had a mobility chip on a pcie pcb...

They have these chips, because they're not actually GTS450, they're a bit more powerful chip (I think GTX560, or GTX550) but they failed some test, so they disabled some things and it was sold as GTS450 Rev2. There was a big batch that had problems, so the market became saturated with GTS450.

That escalated quickly !

I am afraid there is a misunderstanding. By "political shit", i mean all political considerations (no offence intended). On most forum, threads die quickly after politic jump in, and I don't want this thread to be closed :D

@Lenne : bought this second hand, knowing it was a fake because I wanted to try to "repair" its BIOS (see first line of the first post). (And that's why I got one so late, I didn't want to buy it on Wish/Ali/whatever).
For the amount of GF106/GF116, I think they are binned chips. Some of them don't even have proper marking (see picture on this french site : https://gpuchan.org/articles/contrefacon_1.html, the chip name seems to have been sanded ). Maybe they found some giant trashbin of chips which were not destroyed ? Rikintosh's explanation is plausible too.

@eidairaman1 : If I'm right, ELPIDA W2032BABG-40-F are 256 MB, here is the Datasheet (obviously, marking on RAM chips could be fake). The "Test Cuda Memory Bandwidth Performance" crash after 2048 MB on this card, when ran with the original BIOS displaying 4096 MB. IIRC, Superposition crash after 2 GB too.

I already pulled the sheet up from alldatasheets and your babg chips are 1Gigabit or 0.125 GigaByte.

So its a 1GB card

I probably missed it, link plz ? Is the datasheet I linked in previous post not related to the chips on my card ?

Btw if the card is 1 GB RAM, how could it load 2 GB with the benchmarks ?

Nvmd, i was tired when the sheet that was pulled was for a 1G card W1032, not 2032, I found the 2032 sheet, so yeah the chips are actually 2Gb or .250GB which is a 2GB card. I will pull gpu bios again.

Dangit, bbbg chips

Anyways here are 2 2048 bios.

Thanks.

Tried the "Zotac GTS 450 BIOS" (which is identical to the 550 Ti one : same hash), but i got the same issue I have on my own BIOS : the GPU is still recognized with the fake GPU Name (here a 750 Ti).

Imho the issue come from the Device ID. Internet screenshots show "10DE_0DC4" for the GTS450, see here and here.
I compared the BIOS (fake 750 Ti with Device ID 1380 and fake 1050 Ti with Device ID 1C82) : imho the string to modify is located on 18E and 18F. I'll try to modify that tomorrow with the correct value.

@siryoink can assist with this to restore the card to what it really is.

Roger that. But I'll first try to tweak the BIOS by myself.

Here is the progress : started from BIOS you posted above, changed 18E and E596 from 80 13 to C4 0D : got this ID : 10DE 0DC0 (why ?), which should be related to GT440 DDR3 192 bits.

Edit : Opened the BIOS with NiBiTor 6.06, the Device ID is recognized as 0DC4 and GPU as "Nvidia PCI-E 450 GTS 1GB". Bad reading from GPU-Z ?
Edit² : Damn, just saw this thread from @siryoink : https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/...-or-wish-1050ti-and-960-cards-a-guide.293490/
I wasn't so far !

Tested today the @siryoink method : the step 3 leads to artifact (from POST to OS).

Here the original BIOS.

Here the original BIOS.
If step 3 leads to artifacts, you either have a defective GPU or they have modified (physically soldered) the resistors on the card to give an incorrect reading. Some of the GTS 450 with a green heatsink/fan assembly have resistors soldered on the back of them.

As long as you don't have a prebuilt system that validates hardware ID straps (HP, Dell, etc), you can try skipping that 3rd step. BIOS will detect it wrong, but Windows should be looking at the bit in 0018C - 0018F.

It didn't, had to change value on E596 besides the 18E location.

I don't know why, but Windows and GPU-Z now detect the card as a GT 440 (which is closer to reality than 1050 Ti or 750 Ti).

I'll take a look for the resistor.

Hi,

You have a GF116 chip, not a GF106.

And as eidairaman1 noticed, there are 1 GB RAM on it, not 2.

Maybe the chipset and RAM ware binned, and BIOS was made with lower frequencies than genuine GTS450.

None of the gts 450 bios worked, I just tried a gtx 550ti bios(783/750) and it finally turned on with artifacts but it turned on!!!

this is the bios i use, when I enter gpu z, I get that it is gddr5 hynix(?) but on the chips it says elpida, I think the artifacts are due to it.

Is there any way to fix it?

Base frequencies way too high for bined RAM/SoC ?
