Now that the reviews are out, it looks like your assumptions were incorrect - RTX 4090 has made massive strides towards efficiency.
12% @1080p ,31% at 4k and up to 470 watts at stock with RT on, yeah massive strides like 2/4X the performance.

Great.

Ampere got shrinked and we get an equal amount of extra perf as efficiency gained. For 1600+

Yay? Peak power is still way beyond sane and its still a brick

I am considering it heavily, I kept either waiting or not being able to purchase a card from last generation so decided to just wait. Big thing though I am waiting on is the RX 7900XT first to compare performance and price then decide (May also just get a RTX 4080).

AMD is perform to price/watt king. Nvidia is king of performance cap.
What you waiting for?

So cyberpunk is 43fps with rt on dlss off @4k. Not the 22fps Jensen showed
22fps is 3090. He was comparing dlss 3 of 4090 with no dlss of 3090 (weird, comparing lowest you can get from 3090, to highest you can get from 4090)

I am waiting to see, yea I believe the RTX 4090 will probably hold the crown but by how much is what matters. If the 7900XT is sitting at same price point and is between the RTX 4080 and 4090, I will probably pick that up just for the fact its a better value overall. If it's seated at the 4080 and same price, well I will probably look at spending the extra and getting the 4090 or deciding if I am ok with the RTX 4080 performance range (Since we have not seen tests yet that remains to be seen).

Nope. Also, why TF does the 2070S have a USB-C (latest and greatest port) but the next two generation FLAGSHIPS do not?

USB-C was pushed as a connector for HMDs, apparently that didn't work out and they were dropped with Ampere. AMD supports them in some RDNA 2 designs, oddly enough.

the price is good actually, except outside of US.

3090 was 9500 yuan, 4090 is 12500 yuan
30% increase

while in US, it's a 100$ increase which is 6%

I voted Yes, Eventually - this will likely be in about 1.5-2 years when I can pick up a used one with a full cover waterblock on ebay for $800-1000.

Again, I'm not arguing about the price here.

I'm confused about the complaints of its size though - is having as small card as possible really a such a desirable feature? Something that produces a lot of heat should be cooled appropriately and according to the reviews it very much is. Do people also complain about the size of Noctuas or Dark Rock cpu coolers?

Massive compared to what? Did you forget AMD also exists in the same universe

I have a feeling you have misread this table - it is actually proving my point.

Yes. Or at least small enough to fit into an average size chassis. Personally, I like placing as little weight on the PCI-e slot as possible and cooling-wise feasible.

Do people also complain about the size of Noctuas or Dark Rock cpu coolers?
That's one of the reasons why I prefer AIO liquid cooling.

Those are MSRP... last 2 years good luck getting a GPU at MSRP.

Also 4K performance is on par with a 3090, and 6950xt even in current market.

We just discussed in this thread not too long ago that in the US, you can get a 6950 XT for $800. Even if the 4090 sells for MSRP (which is doubtful), AMD's got you covered for half the price (unless you really need that 4K+RT performance).

Post-launch buying flurry pushing up prices. Happens every gen. It's how we identify those with more money than sense.
