Benchmark Scores They're pretty good, nothing crazy.
Still two models (according to my local Micro Center, and if their website is current) are showing as still available to buy in person at the store. $1700 for a Zotac or Gigabyte model.

The store started with 8 different models showing as available when the day started. Nearly 2 hours after the store has opened, there are still 2 models left to pick from. Doesn't look like this card is in any kind of high demand as Ampere was.

No crypto boom, but for a crypto-boom less product it's still insanely in demand. Zen 4 on the other hand...

The question to me is how many will buy an RTX 4090 and under what circumstances. Voters are anonymous.
It is difficult in Turkey, unfortunately I will not be able to get it. Continue with Rxx 560

Yeah lmao.

If I can't get anything on Black Friday I am just waiting till the next-gen.

Noooo, you can't use a GTX 1060 3GB with an I5-7400 in 2023. :kookoo:

Haha, PC go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. :rockout:

do you not understand how capitalism works bruh? if you have a product that will sell out, you want to max out profits on that. Nvidia is dumb as shit for not selling the 4090 for 3 grand. it still would have sold out.

All I said was if I couldn't get a card I would skip. None of the capitalism stuff.

Edit: Reasonable price.

But, but... its 'Avalaible' !
yeah, but reselling at this price, means scalping is not working.
Mars and moon have no air to dissipate heat to :(
Then we use geothermal cooling. We will be the sun on the dark side of the moon.
May be we can provide enough heat to warm up lunar nights this way.

I always think human settlement might not be a plausible aim for planetary exploration
But if ILM can render an Avengers movie more efficiently on Moon, the budget and purpose is immediately met

I voted Yes, Eventually - this will likely be in about 1.5-2 years when I can pick up a used one with a full cover waterblock on ebay for $800-1000.
smart. And you sell your 3090 for 400$ or so.
Basically you can buy a used 4090 in 1 year. When 4090ti comes, someone is willing to sell his 4090. But that would be ~1200$

That has more to do with CPU gaming performance stagnation more so than Nvidia making a product that is only good at one resolution. If you look at some of the 12900K/DDR6000CL30 1080p data the 4090 looks a little better but is still bottlenecked by the CPU.

Still this product is for people who want to max out RT at 1440p with no upscaling or to push high refresh 4k nothing wrong with that.
Well, not really, I mean most games, esp in this review are not CPU demanding at all.

The fact simply is that at these FPS numbers (>200) you're fighting over fractions of milliseconds, CPU will never catch up which leads us to the more logical conclusion: this card is pointless at lower resolutions.

There is always a bottleneck, simple, and 'moar hardware' isn't simply going to solve it. High FPS was, is and will always be troublesome because game logic simply can't parse fast enough at some point. The only games that really like uncapped FPS are shooters that barely use CPU, but even they hard cap at some point. Games already present highly uneven loads to CPUs, as in, they stress very specific stuff, but leave a lot of CPU capability untouched. That's why they barely use power under gaming. And multi threading also still has its limits, which is natural to the sequential input of gaming.

Prices feel unreal. So,

I'll stick with my 6900XT for now and start saving for the cards that come out in two years' time.

With cards getting that bulky, Nvidia must put an empty cpu socket on their cards at some point.

Regarding the other 2 Ada options:

GeForce RTX 4080 16GB is up to 30% faster than 12GB version, according to NVIDIA’s new benchmarks

Only 3 games tested, so nothing conclusive, but still:

Price wise, 4090 makes the most sense in Ada line up. If you have the money, that's the best for your buck

Again, I'm not arguing about the price here.

I'm confused about the complaints of its size though - is having as small card as possible really a such a desirable feature? Something that produces a lot of heat should be cooled appropriately and according to the reviews it very much is. Do people also complain about the size of Noctuas or Dark Rock cpu coolers?
Good point.

I have a feeling you have misread this table - it is actually proving my point.
Hi,
When you need a new case because it won't fit in your mid tower, nvidia or amd it's to big

Some of these cards extend well past the actual card and it's just cooler sticking past so this one is only fixed by adding a water block
unfortunately doing this on nvidia cards voids warranty probably amd to.

CPU air coolers are a different beast so many different options.

We can't just blame inflation.
These cards are heavier and have higher transportation cost.
Less can be shipped in one cargo

Hi, I played saints row yesterday (who's the president dating?) I unplugged my fans, then my coolant become 45°C. Put my hands on my rad to warm up. Really helped, it's chilly here. 48 Fahrenheit now

From a performance potential standpoint it seems so, but I'm more interested in lower TBP cards.
I'm curious what AMD's pricing strategy will be?
In relation with 4080s, if 7800X is a cut down Navi31 with 20GB of memory, it shouldn't be higher than $999 since the rumors suggest Navi32 is coming next year and compared to 6800XT's current price, even at $999 it will have way-way worst performance/$

I'm sure Nvidia will lower the current msrps when Ampere is out of inventory

They will have lots of "let's burn AMD's ass" festivals for discount.
I'm happy with msrps, in case bitcoin bulls again, it's good to have the bar high for them

I wish they could sell naked pcbs. We would watercool them ourselves. I don't want to pay for a shroud

I just upgraded to 1440p 165hz to better utilize my 3080 10gb, I'll probably be looking for a 4080 16gb in a year-year and half time.

Then we use geothermal cooling.
We can here too - actually someone here on TPU did the other day...

Behold - and it's teeny compared to a air-cooled model.
