I feel you. Still, one would hope those stories are mostly just adapters, but I would be putting it in very carefully myself for sure...I get it though, after all those melting stories.... I wouldn't feel 100% comfortable either with this piece of shit connector....
I did it that way but yeah.. and im using riser so i guess i can push down hard wihout worrying that much.Nvidia recommends that you connect the power cable to the GPU before you connect your GPU to the MB. My best guess is that doing it this way allows you to use more upward and downward force while inserting the power cable into the GPU.
If the GPU is installed and you're pushing down hard trying to plug in the power cable, the MB may be flexing too much and you can't get enough upward force from it to make sure the power cable is plugged in all the way.
