Hello guys i need some help.

My Sapphire RX 5700 XT is acting weird. I use it just for gaming. Some games crash after a bit of playing.
Gpu was bought second hand, the guy said he wasnt mining with it but i doubt it.

I tried flashing the old/stock bios on it but i get this error:

OLD SSID E410
NEW SSID E409
ssid mismatched
ERROR: 0FL01

Here is my current BIOS: https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/227184/227184 , i tried to upload it and it said it was already in the database.
Here is the BIOS i tried to flash on it: https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/213644/sapphire-rx5700xt-8192-190820-2

I tried using the newest version of atiflash on the techpowerup site, i tried using both the 2.93+ and 3.04+ versions of atiflash on igorslab site and still i get the same error.

Do not be vague about the power supply by just giving its wattage and its 80+ rating, get hwinfo64 and post screenshots of the sensors for the power supply voltages going to the motherboard and graphics card. While you are at it gpu sensor data for temperatures.

And what makes you think a gpu bios flash will fix your issue?

Have you flipped the switch to try it in the quiet bios?

Yeah your gpu part number is different from the 1 you are trying to flash to, don't do it

Hello thanks for the quick answer.

I tried all 3 BIOS settings all are the same.

My PSU is a Corsair CV550, its a 550w psu.

I dont if the bios flash would help but i noticed that my bios version is not the same as the stock bios version on any rx 5700xt.

My version is: 017.001.000.068.000000 , which is for some other gpu i think
stock bios version is: 017.001.000.049.000000.

My specs:
CPU: Ryzen 5 2600
GPU: RX 5700 XT
MOBO: Asus Prime b450 plus
RAM: 2x8GB Viper Patriot 4200Mhz
HDD: WD Blue 1TB
SSD: Toshiba TR200 240GB
PSU: Corsair CV550

Please pull the gpu and get a pic of the white sticker on the side of the heatsink by the pcie blade of the gpu for verification of the SKU and bios

Once you have done that run some games with hwinfo64 running in the background to see voltage to mobo and then the draw going to the gpu

@AusWolf @INSTG8R @Mussels do y'all see any abnormalities with sensors for the gpu?

Well E410 matches up, also there are several different SKUs, i will review the sku.

Fyo the bios version number makes no difference at all.

I'm pretty sure the person sold you the card knowingly it is having a fault.

You can attempt to run a game while having hwinfo64 in the background. To get more data for the motherboard volts, gpu temps and wattage/current/volts.

Boost Clock is the maximum frequency achievable on the GPU running bursty workload. Boost clock achievability, frequency, and sustainabilty will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to: thermal conditions and variation in application and workloads.

Game Clock is the expected GPU clock when running typical gaming applications, set to typical TGP(Total Graphics Power). Actual individual game clock results may vary.

14Gbps is 1750MHz for the ram.

Do you think it could maybe be the PSU?

The recommended wattage for this gpu is 650w while I have 550w (the minimal is 600w for the rx 5700 xt)

It's possible, those CV/CX/CS line are bottom rung units mainly for office pc's.

Its also possible the gpu was damaged and the person who sold you it was malicious.

This is why I avoid the 2nd hand market this day and age due to miners.

You could attempt a thermalpad and paste change.

And by the way I found several bios files that are your Subsystem and Device ID.

Yeah i found some bios files on the TechPowerUp site but it said they werent confirmed, also im in silent bios now, it says the boost clock is 1950 which should be max but when i ran warzone 2 i oppened the amd overlay and saw clocks up to 2100mhz, I will try a new PSU then but I dont know if im capable of changing the thermalpad and paste

From the looks of it you have 1 of the most current bios files. (which later 1s have bug fixes)

Well 2100 is the boost clock which is not guaranteed where as 1905 is.

Where did you buy the card from(website?)

You can try the psu first but keep in mind the time to return defective parts to get money back.

Yeah it can be invasive to do a pad and paste swap, it's good to have a friend that knows this stuff to do it or a Legit pc shop.

If you want to proceed with a bios flash, just flash 1 side of the bios switch only so that way you can recover if the card bricks.

I will provide the instructions:

Anyways heres an alternate bios to your current 1.
same exact date

2020 08 11

Here are older ones

2019 09 26

Instructions:
Download atiflash/amdvbflash 2.93
Go here https://www.techpowerup.com/download/ati-atiflash/

Then look for Version 4.68, underneath 4.68 you will see a link to show older version, click that and you should see version 2.93

Then

Follow these steps carefully:

1. Open your "C:" drive in Windows, create a new folder, call it atiflash.

2. Extract the contents of atiflash_293.zip to the "C:\atiflash" folder

3. Find the bios file you downloaded and rename the bios file to sp57x.rom

4. Move sp57x.rom to the "C:\atiflash" folder

5. Open the start menu, type cmd, when cmd.exe appears right click it and hit "Run as administrator"

6. At the command prompt type in cd\ and press enter until only C:\> is on the screen.

7. Type in cd/atiflash and press enter, you should see C:\atiflash>

7a. At C:\atiflash> type in amdvbflash.exe -i to identify what number your gpu is (0, 1, 2)

8. At the C:\atiflash> prompt type in
amdvbflash.exe -unlockrom 0 (or 1, 2)
(there is a space between the e and -unlockrom and 0)(0 is the number zero)
press enter and you will be prompted that the "ROM Unlocked"

9. At the C:\atiflash> prompt type in
amdvbflash.exe -f -p 0 sp57x.rom (or 1, 2)
(there is a space between the .exe and -f, and a space between -f and -p and 0)press enter.

Follow directions on screen and if flash is successful exit the command prompt and restart, windows should show up on screen.

The alternate guide:

Amdvbflash 3.31

Its not a bit of a problem the gpu will ramp to 2010.

I will look at the psu
Do you have a model number or a link to what psu you are looking at?

@AusWolf @INSTG8R @Mussels do y'all see any abnormalities with sensors for the gpu?
I assume these sensor readings were taken at idle? If so, the only things I see wrong are the memory clock, which seems to be stuck in load state, and the SoC power usage which is a bit on the high side for idling.

Do you have multiple monitors attached?
What's your display resolution and refresh rate?
Which driver version are you using? I see in your first screenshot, 22.11.2, which is fine.
Can you take the same readings while playing a game / 3D benchmark?
Do you get any error message when the crash occurs?

I have an AOC monitor, 24inch, 144hz, 1080p, 24g2u i think to be exact, when i play a game and it crashes i just get a driver timeout error from the amd software. Ill try hw monitor with some games later, do you think I should flash a different bios?

try this

This. Also, can you reduce your refresh rate to 60 Hz and send us another hwinfo64 sensor reading? The VRAM can get stuck in load state with high refresh rate monitors, but if it does that on 60 Hz, that's not normal.

Unfortunately, driver timeout errors are common on the 5700 series. That's why I sold mine (not counting the fact that I sold it during the big GPU shortage so I made £200 profit on it). I doubt a BIOS flash would help. :( @eidairaman1?

I noticed that my bios version and the stock one have different memory timings and some other things are different but dont know if thats the problem, also here are the 60hz hwinfo readings, the memory clock is now at 200hz so that changed something, i will try and run some hwinfo while playing games but how do i check if anything changed?

Also I noticed the memory clock stays max at 144hz and 119hz, tried every other setting(120hz, 75hz, 60hz, 59hz and 50hz) and the clock stays at 200mhz

Not clocking below 200 MHz on the memory is a bit weird, but not a problem. It looks like 144 Hz keeps it at max clocks (which also isn't a problem). Can you post these readings while playing a game? Although, I have a fear that the driver crashes you're experiencing are just a normal day in life with a 5700 XT. :(

Well i changed the refresh rate to 120hz and no crashes so far, was able to play 2 games of warzone and still no crash, before it crashed at the start of the game so thats a plus. Here are the readings after tabbing out of the game (i screenshot only the gpu readings):

Your GPU power consumption and temperatures are extremely low! Do you have an FPS limiter or V-sync enabled?

On a different note, I'm starting to think that your driver crashes happen because of a combination of your 144 Hz monitor, and the 5700 XT being prone to these crashes in general.

There is never a guarantee a bios flash will correct an issue, it is a last ditch effort to resolve a problem. I honestly believe that I would get a powersupply rated for the gpu, so say if its 750w I would get a 750W, Now a reputable psu from Superflower Gold you could get away with it at 650W for a top end card. The cs/cv/cx/vs/vx are bottom tier that may at best run a 5500XT or 6400XT- that is why I would only put them in office rigs. Enthusiast Rigs I go for Seasonic or Superflower OEM based units, and Andyson .

In that Instance I would use Radeon Pro for Enterprise drivers as a last attempt. If no dice Send the gou back.

This is why if a gpu doesnt work and i know the rest of the rig is up to snuff I don't waste time-i send the part back

Yeah I think its the monitor, no crashes when i changed to 120hz and no stuttering/problems. The power consuption goes up when in game these are the readings of the game running in the back. When in game power usage is about 150-190w and usage goes up to about 90%

Also i limit my fps in warzone to 144 since i dont get above that
