Today, MSI - the innovative computing manufacturer in gaming laptops - proudly announces that its flagship gaming laptop Titan GT77 will be the world's first laptop featuring 4K/144 Hz Mini LED display, which is also the most premium laptop display right now.

The 4K/144 Hz display on Titan GT77 is powered by AUO's AmLED Mini LED technology, which promises super-bright backlighting, decent HDR performance and wide-enough color gamut. The peak brightness of the display is over 1000 nits, which is 2.5 times brighter compared to regular LCD and thanks to its 1008 dimming zones, sharper image quality with less halo effect could be expected. The super-high peak brightness along with exclusive AmLED's Adaptive Control Technology that precisely and dynamically adjust images in real time also brings decent HDR performance.

The Titan GT77 has been certified as VESA DisplayHDR 1000 and guarantees immersive HDR experience in game or streaming. To present as much color as possible, the display on Titan GT77 sports super-wide 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, perfectly meets the need for immersive gaming or entertainment. Last but not least, thanks to the MSI exclusive True Color technology, every Mini LED panel on Titan GT77 will be strictly examined before assembly and promises the most accurate color reproduction to every enthusiast around the globe.

The new Titan GT77 will be officially launched at CES 2023 and more exclusive features could be expected, including world-leading processing power & next-gen GeForce laptop GPU performance, which can drive more frames in game and be beautifully represented with the world's first 4K/144 Hz Mini LED display.

Other than being a battery hog whats the point of that screen for laptops.

its dumb as shit is what it is.

1080p is best for laptop gaming at high refresh, these companies are just trying to get idiots to buy it

Playing my super old esports game at ultra low settings because of "tick rate" so I can get a purple knife to show other 13 year old children. One day I will make it big I swear. /s

On the other side hopefully maybe technology enhancements like this are a sign that maybe someday normal sized panels will come down in price. wishful thinking.

5,999$ probably lmao.

Otherwise: that screen, more people than you think are tired of low contrast and light bleeding, lack of proper HDR.
It's time to focus on quality because guess what, no one gives a toss about 500Hz besides a handful and a lot of people want better screen quality !

OLED for instance has excellent response time in addition to being able to reach 200+Hz so not only it's amazing for HDR and contrast (albeit needs more SDR brightness) but very interesting for games too !

I can't find an AMD laptop on MSI's website so I guess my next laptop won't be MSI.

Also I agree, 4K doesn't work for me on my 32" screen so why would I use it on ANY laptop?

Have you heard of the famous screen-door effect? I guess you are a fan of it. What is screen door effect? (techtarget.com)

To my eyes, barely visible even at 20+ inch 1080P screens, let alone 17 inch and under. 1440P would likely be a much better compromise given costs and the gaming horsepower.

I can see the relatively worsened image quality even on a 15+ inch screen.
Have you ever wondered why your 1000-dollar smartphone has no screen-door effect, while your 150-dollar PC screen has it or at least there is a discussion about it?

The solution is - increase the PPI, or make screens without gaps between the pixels.

1080p is enough on a 15.6" or less sized screen because unless you are sitting 1.5ft away the pixels you see are A too small to see or B noticeable but not bad enough to care about. 4K @ 15.6" or less is worthless because all you are doing is driving more pixels that only a teenager would be able to see.

Distance doesn't help. The screen-door effect distorts the colour representation because of the additional black component which shouldn't exist in the first place.
Go to a store with many laptops and compare their screens side by side. You will see that the 1080p screens are lower quality.

I replaced the 17.3" 1080p 144Hz panel on a TongFang chassis laptop I have with a 1440p 165Hz panel and the difference in sharpness is like night and day. These folks saying 1080p is fine just have bad eyesight.

Hah, what's low quality are the garbage 1366x768 panels they still sell. Even 1080P panels on mainstream/cheaper laptops are pretty bad. I bought a Lenovo IdeaPad 15.6" 1080P laptop at Staples on sale dirt cheap a few years ago. What a great laptop (for non-gaming) but OMG what a horrible panel. Steam or other dark gray backgrounds caused a weird flickering and the color accuracy and contrast were horrible. I ended up selling the thing on eBay recently because I just got so tired of it. Sure, 1080P at 15.6" is perfect for laptops IMO but gosh, what awful panels they end up using!!

This is your 1080p on a laptop screen:

Makes my eyes hurt just looking at that.

I cannot understand anyone who is prepared to accept text rendering quality the equivalent of 1980's dot matrix. You clearly don't WORK on your laptop but just game on it. FFS, get a desktop. If you need a laptop so you can game everywhere you go, FFS, grow up.

4K display on laptop is super useful. I have one with OLED display to watch movies and enjoy content in crisp details and colours. Even mobile phones are moving towards 4K resolution, which will be reached in a year or two. It's all about PPI and pixel density.

I replaced the 17.3" 1080p 144Hz panel on a TongFang chassis laptop I have with a 1440p 165Hz panel and the difference in sharpness is like night and day. These folks saying 1080p is fine just have bad eyesight.
Completely agree. Moving from 1440p to 4K is also a sharp upgrade. Once you are there to enjoy 4K, you never go back to lower resolutions.

What? Have you worked with 4K laptop? People usually sit near laptop's diplay when they interact with it, unless you use remote keyboard to control laptop from sofa.

I work with 4K laptop daily and will never go back to a laptop with lower resolution again.

I went from a 15 inch macbook pro with 2880x1800 native resolution to a 24 inch 1080p monitor. Yeah the laptop looks sharper but you people make it sound like 1080p looks horrific. It's just fine honestly.
The "I can't go back" element would be high refresh, not higher resolution. Even then I can still use a 60hz display. It's just that a smooth high refresh experience is actually more meaningful to me.
Though I'd be open to a higher resolution 24 inch monitor with high refresh.

Yes, of course, as long it supports the corresponding HDMI standard.

This is about proper image quality, not about gaming lol. You can continue gaming at 720p :D
