That's just your perception, not reality.

Guys I heard a rumour... If you're patient and happy to wait, well wait for it... Apparently there will be a card coming called the RTX 5080! And rumours suggest it may well end up being cheaper and faster than the unreleased 4090 Ti, certainly better value for money... Crazy. This is just between you and me, don't tell anyone else.

There's nothing wrong with criticising the size and cost of a graphics card. If we look at Nvidia's professional line, they're all still dual slot (yes, I know - noise).

The Ferrari analogy is not good at all- it is a luxury performance sports car with performance that does not decrease over time - a car that did 200mph 20 years ago, is still capable of that. A £2000+ graphics card today, will perform worse than a mid range card in two generations. It's also hard to sell a £2000 gfx card at £2000 when the mid range card costs less than half that. Ferrari performance and value does not crash as that does. Bad anaology. A luxury product's value does not noticeably decrease with time. Tech does, that's why there are only a small % of enthusiasts willing to pay for it.

Apparently, this has changed.

“Moore’s Law’s dead,” Huang said, referring to the standard that the number of transistors on a chip doubles every two years. “And the ability for Moore’s Law to deliver twice the performance at the same cost, or at the same performance, half the cost, every year and a half, is over. It’s completely over, and so the idea that a chip is going to go down in cost over time, unfortunately, is a story of the past.”

The point conveniently ignored by you is that Ti version of 4090 is "leaking" way to early.

Barely 3 month after 4090 that is unchallenged as of now.

It is quite peculiar with that in mind. Makes me wonder if that is caused by NV seeing that 4090 market is somehow... already saturated.

Or maybe they just have a higher tier product to sell.. like every gen.

The last time I've checked, 3090 and 3090Ti were the same die size.

3090 was released in Sept 2020.
3090Ti was released in March 2022.

So, you are saying there is nothing unusual with 4090Ti appearing 3 month after 4090 released?
And there was a die bigger than 3090's that we missed? (or at least there is a die bigger than used by 4090?)

Oh please, the 4090 Ti was always going to be released at some point, acting shocked or heartbroken for RTX 4090 owners is the very definition of trolling.

We aren't talking about luxury Ferrari's after all.

You're assigning emotions on my part where there are none. My post was to suggest there is no need for a 4090ti. It would likely cannibalise 4090 sales. I'm not certain they will release one, though if they did it would seem to be for the sole purpose of having the highest end 'ti' card. AMD fell far short this time (of the 4090), there's no business reason to release a 4090ti. If they do, they do. So be it.

Okay, you are both right. There is no need for a faster card. Although medi seems to know the release is imminent so maybe there is, and apparently it's because of some mysterious dark force making it hit the market early.

Exciting times!

disagree, the same card used for the exact same workload 20 years later
You must be very productive, so today, at this very moment, with your single-core 3.066GHz P4 Northwood PC, the 2002 flagship model with Windows XP. I don't even remember what the flagship video card was from that year. You overtake all business competitors. :)

Few people would have a case big and strong enough to house such a four-slot giant. Not to mention the strain it would exert on the cooling of said case.

I couldn't read any information about a release date for the 4090 Ti(or RTX Titan ADA)? Product readiness for production does not mean that it will be on the market tomorrow at 10:00 international time. It may be quiet until the end of the year to rob customers of their holiday savings.

Was stated, nor implied, by nobody in this thread.

Oh, wait, it was a strawman? Dude you are so skilled. :D

If a faster than 4090 card releasing 3 month after 4090 was released with no competition in sight is nothing unusual to you... at this point, it is just not arguing in a good faith.

Nothing is "releasing".

Nothing was even hinted at by Nvidia.

All we see is a leak of a prototype, I'm sure such prototypes are made as soon as first examples of chips are available, even if they aren't suppose to launch for months, or if they even decide not to launch a product at all.

I'm sure RTX 3090 Ti prototypes were made as soon as first examples of GA102 became available, probably full two years before card hit the shelves!

It's a ridiculous card, an impressive piece of technology no doubt. You'd think a design with water cooling would be more sensible to make it slightly more compact!

I don't really have a problem with this and sure there will be a market for the small number of cards. I find the 4090 to be more of a problem, the idea top tier cards ex the Titan should cost anywhere near 2k is a ridiculous one to me. My guess is that whilst we'll get Titan's still in future the days of such cards being more mainstream are numbered.

Yeah, accidental and uncontrolled, of course.
(but yeah, not release, "leak")

Remind me the first time 3090Ti was "leaked".

"the RTX 4090 Ti / RTX TITAN will be an engineering masterpiece by NVIDIA"

That sure is a funny way of saying: "The RTX 4090-whatever will be a massive card that even if it fits in to a case will likely short half the neighborhood before your PC even manages to boot and will likely burn everything down in a five mile radius due to it's insane power draw just to play Doom II."

If they did that, they'd either need two SKUs, one for air and one for water, or they'd need to abandon the air market. It's easier for them to leave that to AIBs to offer a model with a waterblock like gigabyte typically does.

A model with no heatsink would be nice for watercooling bros, but it'd be hard to verify warranty needs.

Bruh DVI has been a dead standard for over a decade now, and VGA? really? What high end monitor today is using VGA? If it's not a 4k panel, or even 1440p, why on earth are you buying a 4090ti? (and honestly just use a displayport -> VGA adapter if you really need it.).
I'm sorta kidding...I'm too Retro for a monster like that anyway! :)

You are so amazing at strawmanning, you you should not be doing it for free, citizen... :D

Maybe, I get easily bored. :p Why are you so upset or surprised a 4090 Ti might come to market early anyway? Considering you wouldn't touch a NVIDIA product with a barge pole, why do you care?

Are they living in your head rent free?

In the future, motherboards will have 1.5² meters. Our cards are already ready for that.

Ok, can we redesign case and motherboard form factors and the graphics slot now? PCI Express slots, motherboards, and cases were never designed to accommodate modern graphics cards.
