AMD today announced the retail channel pricing of its upcoming Ryzen 7000X3D "Zen 4" line of high-performance Socket AM5 desktop processors. These processors introduce the 3D Vertical Cache (3DV cache) technology, which the company claims has a significant impact on gaming performance, making them perform competitively with 13th Gen Core "Raptor Lake" processors, including the fastest i9-13900K, and possibly even the i9-13900KS. AMD announced retail availability from February 28, 2023 for the Ryzen 9 7950X3D and 7900X3D. The Ryzen 7 7800X3D launches on April 6, 2023.

The Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8-core/16-thread processor is priced at USD $449. The 12-core/24-thread Ryzen 9 7900X3D is priced at $599. The flagship 16-core/32-thread Ryzen 9 7950X3D is priced at $699. The 7800X3D launches at a $50 higher price than the $399 price that the Ryzen 7 7700X launched at, before settling down at $349. The 7900X3D launches at $599, which again is a $50 premium over the launch price of the Ryzen 9 7900X—currently going for $475. The top-dog 7950X3D launches at the same $699 price that the 7950X launched at, which has its price slashed all the way down to $575.

A video presentation by AMD follows.

Not as badly priced as I thought.

But let's see the actual retail price when they are for sale.

RIP ;D. Can't wait to see AMD and intel market shares to go down because of overpriced products.
Just out of curiosity, what should they be priced at and why?

I imagined they'd release at the 7000X original price points, since those already got price cuts. 5800X3D released with the same price 5800X had at launch.

Pricing the 7950X3D that cheap would REALLY piss off the people who bought a full price 7950X. $699 is matching Intel anyway, I think. $449 for the 7800X3D is the same RRP as the 5800X3D, so that's not THAT bad either. AND we don't know what they perform like yet, so we could be surprised.

Too bad it's April 6th for the one that matters. Looks like they're trying to milk the new adopter crowd. Lame.

They lowered the price because they arent behind in performance vs Intel. If the 7800x3d is only 450 dollars it's bad news. It means it's not that much better.

The whole pissing off current owners is nothing but a bunch of crap I mean these tech companies don’t care never did and never will. Too many examples to mention. AMD relies on previous success they had with 5800x3d to justify the price increase . They know there is a market for these and they can always price cut if need be.

These actually look good. The last X3D made Zen4 non-3D a tough sell. That 7800X3D in particular looks like it could last a very long time at the top of the FPS charts.

I bought my 5800X3D at the same price as the 7800X3D when it was released.
Fair price for that, taking into account that is a product with a very specific use.
I still don't see a use case for the 7900X3D and 7950X3D apart from the ''one cpu to rule them all'' kind of thing.

No AMD still have to sell inventory below these SKU, they don't want to drop the price of non 3D 7###, 5### or what's left of earlier generations.

New tech best in class doesn't EVER make for a cheaper price, never has, I can't see it ever will.

It's par for the course.

These are going to sell out I'd say.

These are only MSRP's. I would not celebrate just yet. Atleast not in Europe where the prices will be more like these going by the exchange rate:

7800X3D: 490€
7900X3D: 655€
7950X3D: 765€

And that is before any reseller markups. So realistically 500+, 700+ and 800+

If we were still in chip shortage times I can easily see AMD pricing top dog at $999, so I think these prices are "reasonable" for MSRP, let's not forget retailers will have flexibility to sell at discounts.

IMO, the 7800X3D is just too expensive compared to the 7700.
I can get a 7700 for $CAD500 (including taxes and free game)... The 7800X3D will exceed $CAD 700 (including taxes and likely no free game)... so $CAD 200 difference!!
Clearly, AMD's margin is much higher on the 3D.

I play at 4K on a 4090 and cannot imagine that the extra-performance of the X3D versus the 7700 makes sense at this price (perhaps a different story at lower resolution).

Comparing the price of 7800X3D vs 5800X3D is not fair as ignores the platform cost.

Anyway, I will get an 7700 but can still upgrade to 3D along the way (the cheaper A620 should make the used market more receptive to the 7700).

I'd like to get one later on this year. The 7900X3D and 7950X3D chips only have the cache on one chiplet though so I'm very curious how well optimized the software will be (games using the chiplet with the extra cache instead of the one without it). I imagine, if the software is at least moderately optimized, that the 7900X3D might be the best as having double the base cache might help in general.

Also: another disappointing "FIRST!" comment on this article. :kookoo:

Are you serious?!.

Your moaning about a few hundred quid when you're GPU was extravagantly priced.

The irony.

And at 4K no CPU makes much of a difference, have you seen the charts, go look.

While the cpu's themselves seem interesting, I will probably hold out on my current 8700k@5ghz for a bit longer until prices normalize to something interesting. Even if that means being cpu bottlenecked for a bit longer.

Woof, no thanks. At this rate I won't be moving anywhere till Zen 6.
What i want for the future is X3D being the default option on day one for Zen 5 etc and not waiting half a year.
Also for the love of god solve the clock speed issue. Only 5Ghz boost on 7800X3D. Compromises again...

Not because I am willing to pay for a 4090, which provides real tangible additional gaming performance, that I am willing to throw my money out of the window.

I think we both agree that processor has less impact at 4K than gpu but 4K performance is not CPU independent when using a 4090... seems to me that you are up-to-date on this topic:
