I do that sorta silliness to mine as well, since my routers high spec as all hell for some reason - helps prevent dropouts in summer

BCM63138 chipset - dual core 1GHz CPU with 1GB DDR3 RAM, when so many modern routers have just 128MB or 256MB for high end overpriced stuff - and this is a $20 second hand router any aussie can snag (the gen 1/1.1 telstra routers)

I used some left over thermal pads from where I work, they were originally going to be thrown away and I thought they would still be useful so I kept them.

Case temp is nowhere near melting heat....

I'd use this though:

It just sticks the fan directly onto the heatsink.
I used it before for such a purpose.

As long as it doesn't hit 30c in his space the tape shouldn't stretch too much, depends on the glue too I guess

This was my fan solution for quieting an rx5700 I had a few years ago.

Not great but it did the trick.

Recently I got a 3d printer and have attempted to try making a less ghetto fan mod for a PowerColor RX470 I bought which lacked a fan or shroud. A couple of attempts later as well as some paint, glue, and sanding, I got this.

Im rather happy with how this turned out, although I feel I should have sanded it more to make it look less 3d printed. Although it looks much less ghetto than my prior fan mods, it's still a bit hack and probably won't hold up as well as some f12s zip tied to a card. The fan here is robbed from an MSI Armor 470 which had one good and one bad fan. I hacked the bad fans wires off and then covered the ends with some heat shrink. The fan is double sided foam taped to the heatsink, and the shroud is also taped to the heatsink.

I do have it designed that I can screw the shroud properly to the heatsink using the original screw holes, but the tape seems to work fine for this, however I am worried it might now hold up for the fan. If I screw the fan directly into the heatsink it no longer aligns with the fan hole sadly.

As far as temps, it's cool and quiet. 60c or so in furmark. Will have to mess around with it and make sure it has the factory bios on it and is clocking appropriately since I'm certain this is ex mining

If you do more, use ABS and rub it down with Acetone. It will dissolve the ridges and fill the voids.

Juxtaposition with AIO water cooling is the real story here.

Low or high heat specialty electrical tape is nothing new. Bit worried about your lack of structural reinforcement on the left side where PCIe slot removed ability to perform a full wrap. Looks to me like you could also improvise a sag support from below on that side.

anywhere from 5 minutes to 5 1/2 minutes

I used cable ties to hold my fan on after watching it fall off before the PC had even been powered on - this is a GTX 970 with cold boot issues, and those issues seemed to be the stock fan shroud warping the card

I then used tape and card from some computer parts box to guide the airflow a little better, which did take almost 10C off the VRMs
Yes - one of the alu panels is being yanked off by a cable tie. It's fun.
