So this happened, Sons of the Forest gonna be lit! My 2080 is showing its age so I decided it was time for an upgrade.

I waited almost 2 years for a deal like this. Best tech deal I've gotten in 10 years.
Dell 3080's are built like a tank and don't get hot with a good fan curve, undervolt, and the "thermal paste around the vram cooling plate" trick.
Gaming temperature around 70c max core, 88c max vram at 912mv @ 1875mhz.
These are still widely available for $500.

I looked just now and I counted at least 8 Dell 3080's on ebay starting at $510, and if you watch ebay every day like I did you'll find them cheaper. The Dell 3080's are reliably the cheapest.

You're partially right, but I've thought you're talking about the new ones. The filter is just for the buy now option.
I wouldn't buy an ex mining GDDR6X card.

I wouldn't buy an ex mining GDDR6X card.
I can tell this is going to be one of those days that I probably will regret ever saying anything in the first place because there's that one guy that'll pick every detail apart.
What do you mean, "partially right?" You've never been able to buy new Dell 3080's unless you buy a new Dell prebuilt with a 3080 in it.
And yes, I looked at "buy now" options on ebay, and there are at least 8 Dell 3080's right now. Are you saying there aren't?
And there's no reason to not buy an ex mining gddr6x card, unless you don't know how to tell if it's abused or not which it sounds like you don't. If you buy from a highly rated seller, then when you get the card see if the vram is running cool, at least under 90c (well, technically under 100c or so, but I insist on 90c or less), and make sure there is no discoloration or anything funny looking, then test the card extensively before your 30 days of protection are up. If anything doesn't look or smell right, just return it. Chances are better than half that it'll be a good card.
If you aren't going to do the homework to save almost $500, then buy a new overpriced card, I guess. I like saving money, and I saved a pile of cash on this 3080. It's great and I'm glad I did it, even though you seem to think I'm trying to get you ripped off or something.

I already have regrets, as you just did that and I need to multi quote.

Dude I've just posted my ebay search result. It's sorted from price+shipping first. And yes you could buy anything if you're a mega miner, even straight from a factory.
And there's no reason to not buy an ex mining gddr6x card, unless you don't know how to tell if it's abused or not which it sounds like you don't.

If you aren't going to do the homework to save almost $500, then buy a new overpriced card, I guess.
I don't know anything, teach me master. I'm getting a 6900xt for the ~600eur instead.
You seem to think I'm trying to get you ripped off or something.
Get your grip dude, all I was saying is that a card with GDDR6X memory that probably mined crypto is mostly dying. Congrats making to the special list.

ITX board arrived
I then managed to trip over and pull about 500 muscles in my leg and back, so its been slow going since then

This thing is the yo-dawg of motherboards

We heard you like heatsinks so we put a heatsink on your heatsinks to connect your heatsinks to your other heatsinks
Oh and then we put a heatsink on the back too

NVME goes in, black thermal pad OF COURSE
1677048484460.png

Then you get the factory/motherboard heatsink to on (genuinely like this one, looks great and latches in + screw)
1677048516232.png

Then they added ANOTHER ONE on top that connects your VRM heatsink to your NVME heatsink. No thermal pads or tape here, just metal on metal.
You dont see VRM heatpipes on boards this cheap, normally
1677048553101.png

And of course the backplate because DUH why not?
1677048583194.png

Connectors are great for an ITX board - Wifi AX, 2.5Gbe, and all the USB 3.2

My only complaint here is that they dont state speeds, the red ports are 10Gb
1677048615276.png

One day i'll get a 5700g or similar for this build to let the IGP use those ports

The backplate is great, adds a LOT of rigidity.

The block over the M.2 is 120% useless and legitimately suffocates the drive, leave it off and let the actual heatsink go to work

The heatpipe is not for the the M.2, it's for the B550 PCH underneath it

Thank, I didnt check what it all did
It's an SN730 so its not high heat either way, but i love the extras - small thermal pad will fix the choking, if i cared
I got revision 1.2 with wifi "6E" instead of "wifi AX" so yay me, upgrade!

Farting about with memory overclocking on it for fun, atm it only has an 8GB 2667 stick at 3200, i'll see how high the board can clock one module before I investigate more RAM for it

Interesting, didn't know about the Wifi 6E. When I did my RMA they had released v1.1 but gave me a new v1.0. A quick look didn't catch any major physical changes for v1.2, which is great, it's a good board for B-die.

that price for only a 4070ti LOL

$cad, not usd

They've changed the wifi module to a new AMD one

AMD have learned from intel, supply your own eth/wifi/chipset and you're making 4 sales on the one board

Seems like rebranded Mediatek hardware. The AX200 was solid, so I guess you'll be the guinea pig this time. Can't remember the last time I saw a Mediatek wifi card, but their mobile SoCs have been on a roll in recent years

Hope they kept the antenna. It's by far the best wifi antenna around.

Bought myself a graphite Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra 512GB, bundled with their Buds 2 Pro.
Expensive? Hella sure, but they offered me for my current Galaxy Note 10 almost what I paid for it some years ago.

Pics when it does arrive.
Here's the child (and big it is):

The "bundled" Buds2 Pro are still to arrive, as I needed to claim them at a different Samsung website as soon as I had an IMEI number from the new phone.

daymm nice one!

not long ago i got a fantastic black friday contract deal on a S22 ULTRA + SIM. Now we're already on S23. No regrets though the S22U blew me away, won't need anything better for a LONGGG time.

If anything, I didn't really needed to phase my Note10 out. But I was indeed interested in the newer zoom cameras and Samsung buying my old phone at almost the price I bought it for seemed like a nice deal to me.

ditto.... Note 2 had me going for years, paired up a second S8+ for another set of years and finally fancied something more powerful, large screen and silky smooth screen time. I'm curious though, whatsa the S23u got over the S22u. Might have to google that... yep i get like that, always windows shopping without hacking into my wallet.

Why did I opt for the S23U over the S22U? Were I buying the S22, Sammy'd offer me half the cash it did for my Note10, wouldn't come "bundled" with the Buds 2 Pro (kinda superfluous, as I have the 1st gen Buds Pro, which I'll probably sell) and I'm unsure if they sell the Exynos here. Financially speaking, they'd about even out.
Also, it's the first legit current flagship I buy. When I got my former Mi 5, there was the Mi 6 already. The Note10 (which for starters isn't the 10+) I did buy when the S21 series was coming to market.

The "official DCS rudder pedals" part is news to me.......but the T-rudders are indeed compact as hell and top quality as is typical of VKB.

They look sturdy enough also considering the price of plastic AF rudder pedals price is decent in relative terms. Use them with a game controller and let us know how that combination is. By us I mean me. I would think they would make regular game controller feel even better and work nicely together. That combination would awesome in Starblast. Some people have some ace skills in that game.

Ordered two 2x 2.5" to 3.5" adapters. I'll take pics when they arrive and I've mounted those with 1.69TB of storage :toast:
