Don't be so judgemental. Everything is 60% more expensive compared to 2019 pre pandemic. My favourite biscuits, my bicycle. Everything is jumping on that train. Yeah.

4070Ti and 4090 are both priced $20 per Tera flops. So a 4050 with its 13 Tflops can't cost more than 299.

Yeah, that is definitely part of it. I'm willing to bet TSMC has more to due with shit pricing vs AMD and Nvidia. That's probably the primary reason Nvidia went with the inferior Samsung process for Ampere.

One of my secondary PCs is being used to encode video into mkv files for my Plex server. Currently that is using an GTX 1650 for encoding/decoding, however I want to start using AV1 encoding and I don't want to pay for an RTX 4070ti or greater if I am not going to game on it. If the RTX 4050 supports AV1 encoding/decoding and is better than an Intel Arc 750 (which supports AV1 encoding, but I am not fan of Intel's drivers), I would be interested in getting the card and turning my seconardy PC into my new Plex server and still encode my videos.

I would go with Intel's options in this case. Intel's drivers probably having problems with games, not media encoding/decoding/playback, or anything else. And I think even Intel's A380 is more than enough for that task. So if the programs you use, support Intel, I see no reason to pay the Nvidia tax.

Our GPUs are not overpriced, they are just slightly positioned outside the realm of reality.

Love,
Jensen Huang

And remember kids, the more GPUs you buy the more you save
Well, it's only fair to ask double money for a feature that you never needed, but now two of your 548 games support, I guess.

You jest, but I'd genuinely like to see a raytrace capable successor to the GTX 1650, no PCIe cable needed and all. Us budget gamers gotta eat too! Of course it needs to have GTX 1650 prices too...
RX 6400? I've had one, it's not as bad as people think. I currently have a 6500 XT in one of my HTPCs, and I honestly love it.

What about Intel for VRR and 10 bit color on Smart TVs (not computer monitors), because right now, my AMD 6400 sucks for those tasks (can't do neither).

And I can't use my 6400 on Kodi on most of my videos since 3 or 4 drivers ago.

I'm interested in this "just to know"

I have a 3080ti PC upstairs connected to a 75" Samsung mini QLED 10 bit panel with VRR support, and the colors and VRR are straight up awesome. This is where I game the most. The Sony ports and many other single player games are best played this way lounged on a couch with an Xbox One controller ... much better than the nonVRR projector on the basement PC.

If the GPU isn't capable of 4k 120hz, 1080p 120hz with AI anti aliasing works, which the Intel GPUs should be able to do. As long as the framerate stays above 60, it's fine.

Hopefully this thing performs at least around the 2060 Super. The 3050 being slower than the vanilla 2060 was disappointing.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nvidia pushes out a 4010, 4020, 4030, 4040 and a quarter, 4040 and a half, 4040 and 3-qtrs too. If it makes money, if it sells, if people are willing to inconsiderately pay more, its just DAYM good business for the green monster

I knew i should have fattened up my peanut size investment in Nvidia stocks in 2020 but didn't know it would have been this good!

Be nice if there is a low profile version.
I don't think there will be one. These new "super efficient" GPUs consume more power than their predecessors for some reason.

I mean, the 3050 could have easily been a sub-75 W low profile card with not much performance lost, but it wasn't. Long live maxing out the efficiency curve, I guess.

3060 performance for $349 get em while they are hot boyz!!!
With 6GB? No thanks

I mean, it is coming out 4 years after the 2060 and for the same price and same Vram, if it's not even slightly faster is just the worst crap ever created.

ya be nice if there was some nice performing low profile cards with good media decode at a good price. The RX6400 performance isn't bad for something in that power class, but no media decode, and I wouldn't call pricing that great either.

Jesus how much more crap will nvidia get away with. Now they downgrade the rtx xx50 series card from 8 to 6 gb vram while cost the same or maybe even more. 8 gb is the minimum today for 1080P.

A few people speaking of they need a card that is slot powered and just as fast or faster than rtx 3050. That card already exists. A used rtx a2000 with 6 or 12 gb vram might be what you are seeking.

It has H.264 and H.265 decode, just no AV1 and no encode. I agree that its pricing wasn't the best at launch, but the Sapphire low profile version currently goes for £141.98 at Scan UK which is around £20 less than a 1050 Ti (1650 LP cards haven't been in stock for ages).

Next gen iGPU's will make a mockery of the 4050. Why would just buy a second hand 3070 or 6600XT for similar money. It's not like this cut down POS will be used for RT, so it won't bring anything to the table we haven't already seen other than lower power.

I would've believed you if Nvidia just did this now. They have been at this since the gtx600 series when they labeled their x60 chip as x80 and began an endless price hike. We thought it was bad back in then, and here we are now. What's even more frustrating is that AMD has not been as competitive in terms of price since NAVI. They simply been slotting their cards according to Nvidia pricing.

No matter how Nvidia tries to pitch the marketing, a 6GB RTX 4050 is going to be poorly received. Given how unoptimized games are becoming, we are seeing that 8GB looks like the minimal amount of VRAM. So in VRAM constrained condition, the RTX 3050 may outperform the VRAM starved RTX 4050 which is embarrassing. And one can forget about RT because that requires more VRAM to fuel the RT cores and the lack of memory bandwidth and cache is going to tank performance. DLSS 3 with FG is going to be a poor experience because they won't be able to address the latency issue.

They should just disable raytracing on this one and release it as a GTX product like they did with GTX16x0 series.

No media decode lots of videos doesn't work with hardware acceleration in kodi (they broke it a few drivers ago), no 10 bit on smart TVs, forget about that card for multimedia.

I don't use Kodi, but all H.264 and H.265 videos run butter smoothly in VLC and Youtube (in Chrome) with no CPU usage. Even 4K ones.
