NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Will Have a Founders Edition

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Founders Edition has been pictured, showing a standard Founders Edition design but which is smaller than the RTX 4080 FE. While the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti did not get a Founders Edition, relying on its add-in-card (AIC) partners to push their own custom designs, the RTX 4070 is a whole different story. This will also put a lot of pressure on NVIDIA AIC partners, as the RTX 4070 FE will be sold at $599.99.

The RTX 4070 will be the third Founders Edition graphics card in the RTX 40 series lineup, and it looks pretty much as it did in earlier leaks. It is a dual-slot, dual-fan graphics card with a V-shaped PCB, and it is smaller than the RTX 4080 FE, making it similar to the RTX 3070 FE. NVIDIA is equipping it with a single, center-placed, 16-pin PCIe 12VHPWR connector, although custom versions will be coming with both standard 8-pin or 16-pin power connectors. It has one HDMI 2.1 and three DisplayPort 1.4 display outputs. Original renders came from Videocardz, after which David Giannis shared a bit more pictures, showing the front and the power connector. As rumored earlier, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 is still scheduled to launch on April 13th, priced at $599.99.

If true it means EVGA was right after all and Nvidia intends to drive AIBs out of the market eventually.

3080-10 performance for 100$ less 2.5 years later, yes. Still gonna be the best deal in Huang's line-up, considering xx60 cards are mega-gimped with 8 gigs.
Man, where's AMD, we don't even have rumour articles about their other cards every week.

i think amd should continue selling the 6000 series rebadged into 7000 series skus and keep the 7900xt and xtx at top tier. Move onto 8k series because i think many will skip the rtx 40 series
and 6000 series and rtx 30 series still pretty powerful, we are past pandemic and recovering but the effects has been devastating that games and AAA games that require new gpus are not many. Also the 40 series are selling at ridiculous prices... and 30 series and 6000 series also sold at ridiculous prices. I dont speak for them but i for one wont fork out money for current gpus..

IMO 8K is pointless for upcoming 5 years as minimum. TV main market still is 4K and consoles jumped to 4K only 3 years ago. And if current console generation will be here till 2026/2027 then there is no point in 8K.

Presumably because Nvidia needs to pretend there is "real stock" at $599, rather than vaporware.
Expect these to be sold out perpetually with the available partner cards starting at $649+

In other news, the 12V HPWR connector has no right to be ruining GPUs that consume under 200W. That stupid, inflexible cable that "must not be bent" yet also protrudes perpendicularly from all FE cards at the worst possible angle for such a requirement....

Same here.
Can't you buy from any other country in the EU though? I've bought FE cards from France and Germany with no problems.

You can't simply because they ship only for residents of those countries, unless it's an Amazon reseller or something. But this is ugly, 3070 was way better. 29 Tfloos vs 40 on the Ti, so the price is still salty with the added bonus of 2GB, nice.

We also don't have any official source of FE cards in my EU country.
While its technically possible to buy cards from other countries its often not worth the extra hassle with possible shipping fees and dealing with warranty in case the card dies.

For example if I buy a brand new GPU from a r/etailer in my country they give me 3 years most of the time and if anything happens to it all I have to do is bring/send it back to the shop and they will deal with the rest of the process.
Now doing that with a GPU bought from a different country is a lot more problematic which I would personally never want to bother with.

At that point I would rather buy a second hand GPU for much cheaper and have about the same type of 'warranty', FE cards do show up on our second hand market every now and then.

This card costs 200$ to more than it should have been. And that putting it mildly. I didn't want to sound too pretentious to say it costs double than it should have been....

Inflation is the main driving factor of progress. So that you can go out and earn more. What do you expect it's not a free lunch. Just sitting and waiting on the perfect deal isn't going to work.

The street price a week after launch will be closer to $700. With 12GB of VRAM which is already marginal for new games that is already a flawed product.

That didn't happen with the 4070 Ti so why would it be any different with the 4070?

That does seem like their goal, although for Nvidia to force all their AIB's out of the market they would actually need to have adequate supply of FE cards. The 3000 series FE cards were pretty much impossible to find unless you could buy one in certain stores.
Man, where's AMD,
AMD is selling RX6000 series cards at a much better deal than this 4070 which should have been a 4060.

That’s a good idea, but I usually buy PC components with an invoice for tax reasons. In theory it’s possible, but in reality quite difficult.

While I agree that it should've been a 4060, I fail to see the better deal. 6800XT on newegg is $540+, if there are MSRP 4070 cards on launch day, this is going to be a 6800XT that can also do a bit more raytracing and has a better upscaler in DLSS, so that's where the extra $60 are going. In 2 years both will be obsolete for 1440p@Ultra regardless of 12 vs 16 question. Now people who got 6800XT for MSRP before/during mining boom - those people got an insanely good deal, as they get to be in this "great for 1440p" territory for 4 years for $700 (less so for 3080-10 users, who are also running out of VRAM). Not so much now.
Again, that's just my opinion, if someone doesn't care about the features mentioned - sure, AMD offers an option and you can spend those $60 on something else. I still find it strange that they're not launching anything for so long.

How dare you dismiss the extra 2GB of VRAM??? :p
Also I agree that the "silence" on AMD's side is starting to bother me too. Usually there are always announcements/leaks when nvidia or intel are about to launch something to try to make people wait for their (AMD) stuff.

i think amd should continue selling the 6000 series rebadged into 7000 series skus and keep the 7900xt and xtx at top tier.
Would the rebadge also come with a discount? I wouldn't mind a "RX7700" with similar performance and power usage of the RX6800 (non XT) for <450€ (the lowest I've seen the RX6800 around my parts was at ~520€).

I feel you man, last FE from AIBs in my country was pascal (day one released). I'm trying hard to get my 20 & 30 Fe's this past several years & its coming late, still don't have 40 FE yet (for reasonable price) sadly

I dunno what AMD's thinking but I'm wondering if there's simply not enough margin from selling fewer relatively large GPU dies for affordable prices (relative to Nvidia) when that same limited fab space can be spent on many more small CPU dies that can be sold in a myriad of configurations from affordable R5 7600s to hi-margin Epyc 9654s.
