+1,.. I was on Asus X670E Gene, rock solid with EXPO, default settings. :)

Personally with my system the Tweaking/Overclocking, PBO, MLB, Curve Optimizer results were just unsuitable for such an expensive platform.
Ah, I see. I don't play around with such stuff, so I wouldn't know. It's not just that I'm happy with my system at stock, but I don't find the minimal gains of tweaking worth the investment in time. :ohwell:

Looks like an 8 cylinder. So unless this is a ghetto mod v8 conversion, it must be a 928

*however* the car is red. I think only the 944 came red as a standard option colour.

we need to know more!

Excuse me, but that's an inline 4, so it's either a 924 or 944. Let's not argue about it please. :D

I feel your pain bro, AM5 has been 6-months of frustration for me.

Loading dozens of new beta BIOS, and new Windows installs, dozens of BIOS options needed to adjust/disable with each update to perhaps run stable on next cold boot is a bit much.

The AM5 platform is fine if you want to run EXPO, default settings.

Hopefully down the road AMD, Asus can work together, share information to sort out AGESA, and other issues. Till then I'll be running Intel platform for daily/gaming rig. :)

I have to disagree with you on the just wanting to run EXPO thing. I bought a 7700x, gigabyte am5 mobo, and qvl expo ram from microcenter late last year i think it was, and I got nothing but errors when I turned on EXPO and changed nothing else. honestly I have never had such a terrible time with building computers than I have in the last 6 months. I decided to give up until 8800x3d /intel 14th/15th gen reviews and a refresh of the gpu's. Maybe I just have been extremely unlucky, but I have had headache after headache. even when I tried 13600k, I had qvl ram, and it would not run stable, to be fair it was really high end / fast ram, but still if the mobo says qvl for it and I am running a good cpu like the 13600k, I expect it to work. xmp worked flawless for me the last 20 years or w.e, not sure wth is going on.

I also have noticed more products have coil whine this generation, at least there seem to be more complaints about it. I think the industry is recycling a bunch of older electronic parts to save money personally, but I can't prove it. I have lost too much money in last 6 months selling off parts, etc. I am just going to take a break for awhile.

I am happy with my Steam Deck for now anyway.

I scored a used Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280 locally tonight for $35. I also broke my vow about never buying old mobos again and bought an Asus Rampage V Edition 10 from another TPU'er that's supposed to be here tomorrow according to UPS. My better half is going away with her sister for 4 days Friday so now I have something to keep me busy.

Did you update your BIOS? What you described was also my experience on the factory BIOS. Version 1.50 changed everything. It's been running like a dream since. :)

Then maybe your RAM was too fast for your IMC. I don't know how it ended up on the QVL, though.

Got a custom cut 20 W/mK thermal pad set for my GPU, considering repasting when I install with the new Conductonaut Extreme which is supposedly 30% better than the old Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut, if I can ever find it in stock.

I'll add a post with pictures and temperature results before/after when both arrive.

Found Conductonaut Extreme in stock finally, UK store, excited to be one of the first to try it out, apparently between 18-30% better than OG Conductonaut, which is already the best. I'll be sure to post before/after results with a stress test on the GPU, with some naked die shots too (marked NSFW of course). For now will just apply to the IHS of my CPU rather than both IHS and between die and IHS. OverclockersUK has it in stock, there was a listing on Amazon but I'm somewhat wary of third party sellers on that platform.

Ordered a Delid Die Mate 2, but couldn't find the AMD adapter in stock anywhere, so I cancelled that. Delidded 5800X3D will have to wait I suppose :p

i had fun doing this kind of stuff when the 8700k came out. the temp gains were insane. and it was just a fun little craft to try out.

Yeah, I'll use the leftover to repaste the 9750h/2070 240/1080p Razer Blade 15 I gave to my friend, it's running a little hot.

If only AMD chips were easier to delid, even the adapter is technically only supposed to be used with the APUs.

I delidded a friend's 8700K with a kitchen towel and a shed vice a few years ago, that was fun, he was worried, I wasn't.

Next step is to figure out how to install a second slim radiator in the floor of my case (not designed for it, but others have done so). I've been in contact with Singularity computers to build a custom distro front panel replacement for the SM570 I have, which will be cool, thinking it will clean up the build a lot and provide tidy mounting of the D5, with an integral reservoir.

hi m8,

Yep, I have Grizzly conductonaut on my i9-9900k and it reduced the temps by around 26 deg C !!

Also, my i9-9900k has a pure copper IHS, that helps a lot with heat transfer.

Main advantage of those are slightly higher surface area and/or no need to lap, stock IHS is pure copper with a thin layer of nickel to prevent corrosion.

Picked up a contact frame, some new fittings and a finishing bit. I'm thinking I might run a parallel loop this time.

I get my CPAP breathing machine today. Looks something like this one. Nose only.

Everyone I have talked to said it changed their life. I think it will do same for me, my Doctor says I have severe sleep apnea. I have had it since 2013, but insurance wouldn't cover the machine the last three sleep studies dating back to 2013, but insurance decided to cover it this time. Fucking assholes. America is a third world country.

One of the worst things about American medicine is the inequality of insurance coverage. The policies will differ, not just from one insurer to another, but within each company as well. You just don't know what you're getting until it's too late to look for other options.

Glad you're finally getting one. I'm a full-mask user myself. Protip: Everything except the actual machine needs replacement eventually. Find out right away which supplies your insurance will cover, and (if possible) find out what the costs/co-pays are going to be. Then start checking Amazon/Walmart/etc for the stuff insurance won't cover. You don't need to have a full backup set right away, but the day you find mold in the hose, you'll be glad you have a spare in the closet.

I appreciate the tips mate. I was told I can wash mine with soap and that I should do so once a week. I am hoping everything will last me a few years before it needs replaced, as long as I stay loyal to detailed cleaning each week... we will see.. I will do my best. I just want to feel better.

Missed 15 pages of this thread, too lazy to catch up

Bought a PCI-E 4.0 cable for the ITX machine, because it got boring FAST having to do a GPU swap any time the CMOS reset.
Fortunately $60Au at the time, screwholes dont match the case and 200mm was slightly too long so it's held in by one screw only and goes 'up' behind the GPU to hide the excess

Bought inverter, made it into a smoke machine because they said it supports 24V input and it did not
Two of them exploded in a row, and left me with a migraine that's still hurting almost a week later.

Bottom of packaging and website both claim it supported 24V input to reach the 1200V peak value mentioned, twas lies.
Required to be attached via clamps, you can see below what happened when connected while switched off.

Even as a moderator, it only has one combination of words that can be used to describe it
Useless fucking cunt

I've accumulated a mix of new and second-hand solar parts, including 2x 33AH 12V batteries, 12/24v MPPT solar controller with a known bug that makes it think 12v batteries are 24v and sets them on fire (Hence going 24v), anderson connector power meter, solar panel briefcase (It's for when I'm travelling light)

Also bought a Baseus 140W USB-C PD charger that was fucking amazing, til the inverter/smoke machine exploded that too.
Display rotates through volts and watts used on the ports, which is great for identifying what devices are actually using
Many of my google pixel and samsung devices claim they only do 5V 3A charging which is a lie, as they all seem to support qualcomms 9v charging as well.

Highest wattage input I've seen so far from my "160W" panels, but I've been unable to run heavy loads due to inverter explosions and it's also winter and cloudy here.

Finally got my nice new very white tower cooler, does an absolutely superb job of cooling the 95C rated 7700 chip, fitted it with thermal grizzly's kryonaut TIM, at least according to p95 blend for couple hours.

I thought the 7700 was a 65w chip? 7700x is the one that shoots for 95 celsius? I don't remember. I can't keep up with all of it anymore.

those temps are very VERY impressive for prime95... wow. I actually have never had a system that got those low of temps in prime95 on any cpu. heh
