I was fiddling with my backup rig (5600x) and noticed how much faster it was compared to my regular rig (8700k). So I did what any person would've done and bought the 7700X :D
I'm gonna replace the 8600k (VR-&HTPC) with the 5600X. The 7700K goes in my CaseLabs Mercury S8 (sig rig) along with the RTX 3080.
Second pic is the test setup on the Streacom BC1 v2 black along with the FD Celsius S24 (Noctua fans).

Edit: Shoutout to Rufus cause no wifi or lan driver were present during installation..

So I wanted to utilize my old Modius DAC and Loxjie hybrid tube amp. I bought this Wavlink USB-C dock for my tablet. I love it. It can hold an M.2 SSD in it, has a power passthrough and it seems everything I plug into it actually works properly. So here I have the dock hooked up to the tablet, a USB A to Micro USB going to the DAC and the power passthrough hooked up to keep the tablet charged. It all works! Just setting up a media player now.

I had to go digging about that WavLink, nice little toy, but no LAN connection. Otherwise, I freaking love it....

Welcome to the (non-existent) 7700X owners' club! :toast: Just make sure you give it as much cooling as you can, and/or adjust its power and temperature limits to your liking. This CPU is a beast in all senses.

That's awesome! I think you'll really enjoy it. For the longest time my 'walk-around' lens was the Sigma 50-500 OS.

One of my family members scored this at a yard sale...

20230618_175851.jpg

...a PSP Street (E1004) for $25.

I've had a PSP Go since 2010, but I've been curious about the other models. I had also picked up a dead PSP 3000 at a thrift store a while ago for $5, but never got it working.

It came with a handful of game discs and had the PRO CFW on it. The 4GB Memory Stick it came with also happened to have ROMs of God of War and FIFA13, so that's interesting.

I've been playing around with it since we got it, and I've updated the CFW and installed Infinity for convenience. I've already ordered a Memory Stick to microSD adapter and a 128GB microSD card.

It's especially interesting since this model of PSP was never sold in the US. I'd guess the previous owner either imported it or bought it while on a trip. The text on the bottom sticker is in French, so that might be where it's from.

Bought the x570s Aorus Elite AX (rev 1.1) for $199 to replace my Aorus x470 that started behaving badly because of my Ryzen 5950x running at 100 degrees Celsius (using a Captain 240 watercoolergoing full blast). The cool thing about this mobo is that the design negates the need for a fan on the south bridge. Runs very well with my 5950 and Geforce 2700 super, plenty of USB ports and options, great Mobo.

Also bought an ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 360 A-RGB for the heat problem and the temp went from 100 to 79.5 degrees, in a quiet fashion. Couldn't be happier.

Hoping to keep this setup for a really long time, with an upgrade on the video card next year.

It might be just me, but I have a bad experience with gaming laptops and try to talk everyone who wants one out of it. They mostly overheat, and even if they don't, you can't play any game on the built-in keyboard, it's so hot. Not to mention the abysmal battery life and weight. With that said, it's been years since I've had a laptop that's even remotely capable of gaming, so things might have changed since then.
Nothing since my 3rd gen intel laptop has been any good

They went from 4C8T i7's to 2C4T for a few years, and then basically they always sounded good on paper with really disapointing hardware.
Three laptops with the same GPU would have different specs, and if you compared more you'd find the few with the same actual hardware had different TDP limits artificially capping them.

Go look at the throttlestop forum if you want to convince yourself to not buy a gaming laptop, theres a lot that can't even run stock speeds when new, let alone when they've aged

That's very similar to my ITX board, and one of my friends has that board

Two things:
1. VDIMM overvolts, 1.35 comes out as 1.42v
2. SoC voltage can vary based on RAM speed, anywhere from 1.0v to 1.20v according to some reports - manually set it (1.10v, 1.15v if you're running 4/8 ranks)

That failing board might simply have been that you enabled PBO, the defaults on most AM4 boards are balls to the wall - they have no throttles. Make sure to custom set values and you'll never have that problem, unlimited settings will always be able to overheat because the heat transfer to the cooler from the IHS becomes the problem - not the cooler.
