There is a problem in the review, minor typo.

NV7000T-01.jpg

There's this...

NV7000T-02.jpg

...but then it states that the NVMe form factor of 2230? That should be 2280.

Yep. Just paid $100 for the 2TB 850X last week. Hard to justify anything else atm
Seems same with 980 pro as well, I paid £134 for 1TB without heatsink in late 2021, now its £116 with heatsink on 2TB version. So thats two high end drives that are matching this dramless on price.

There is no software, it just works
Doesn't matter. We have already seen examples of extra chips on CCP hardware that automatically send data back to China without any additional software.

I literally took photos of the PCB. There is no subspace transmitter there

Are you talking about that Supermicro story from 2018? Nobody has ever produced any actual evidence other than "I have seen this myself". Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, don't be a sheep

Seems amazon is also now cheaper, there is a "apply 30% discount for this item" check box now. :)

Given the fake MX500's on aliexpress not sure I would buy from there, but with the voucher it is at least now only £80 on amazon.

So I tried to order a 4TB version to Sweden..and I got these messages

"Dear customer, due to the order amount exceeding 150 euros, we are unable to send it to your country. Please cancel the order, I am truly sorry.[Angel]
"

And
"Hello, my friend, the package exceeds 150 euros and cannot pass customs inspection in your country."

And I say what in the damn *bleep*?

It's almost certainly because import duty gets charged on orders > €150, so what happens is that when a drive arrives in Sweden the buyer refuses it because they didn't anticipate paying the extra tax. Then it gets sent back to China, and now the seller has to refund the buyer and eat the costs of shipping - assuming the drive isn't damaged or lost in transit. When you're an AliExpress seller who lives off selling the same products for less than any other seller, you simply can't afford that, so it's easier for them to just not ship to EU nations that impose that duty.

When I ordered my NUC from aliexpress they shipped it to an intermediate in holland who then shipped to me, I think they are very particular about import fees the chinese sellers, one of the ways they can hit their price.

What @chrcoluk wrote. They have setup an elaborate network to get around these charges

Yes, that's the reason, but not the whole reason. Import duties are generally low and regulated by the WTO, and 4% is already a lot, unless the items are a weapon in a trade war. I don't know about SSDs but here's some info from the government of the Netherlands suggesting it's 0% for computers and parts. EU is a customs union so the 0% rate applies everywhere within it.
However, there's an administrative procedure involved too, and it probably costs the same no matter if you pay a 0% or 50% duty. The cost varies between EU countries. Here in Slovenia, we pay around 3.25€ fixed fee for anything below 150€ that arrives from China (or the UK, for that matter). It doesn't matter that the customs office just needs to confirm that the Chinese seller has already charged, and paid, the VAT for us. And for stuff above 150€, it costs 28€. (Those costs are found in this price list.) And that's probably why some less informed buyers order stuff, then refuse it when it arrives at the border.

Huh ... was that after Brexit? I'd understand that if it happened before. But now, there are additional costs for crossing the Channel.

Before Brexit, same trick might not work now.

You can't exploit our tax havens any longer, har har har.

After some thinking ... um, we can't exploit yours either.

On the surface, it seemed like a very good overall performance, with the exception of the sensors reporting wrong data.

The key point is that without local support, those 5 years of warranty are for nothing. I wouldn't pass up buying an NV2 instead.
