Generally, when these ES/QS models are sold. Is anything performance-wise not included compared to the retail production?

Engineering Samples can have a few missing features, usually not many(very few), but Qualification Samples are always fully functional, otherwise they would not pass qualification testing. QS models tend to be more rare, but if you can find one, grab it! They are usually unlocked and unrestricted.

Man what is up with x79 and x99 mobos? First my x79 system went down with severe memory issues, and that was my 2nd board. Now my x99 system is causing the psu to reset
and it just boot loops. Really wanted that 2699 back up. Oh and yes I tried swapping psus in the x99, same thing. Just a boat load of bad luck!

Seems like something on the vrm side of the cpu or something on the board is shorting to ground causing the psu to reset when it going into protection mode. Have you tried just booting without the graphic card just to rule out the boot looping issue?

Yeah, I'll probably rip the board out and try it outside the case. Don't know why it ran perfectly for months before. Maybe the vid card is toast too... hope not, it's my last one.

Nope, after much troubleshooting... pulled the x99 mobo out and recycled it. I'm done with intel. Will use the spare parts to build another ryzen system. $250+ can for a used x99 mobo...

That seems a bit rash. Why not just get another motherboard? Seriously, they're cheap right now..

blaming intel for what is either just material age failure or local crappy grid quality, is funny. please just stop building pc's at all with this mistaken understanding of things, AMD isn't foreign to platform issues in the slightest.

Going to put a NAS/disk server together. I suppose that a X5675 with 18GB RAM is fine for that?

..just need to borrow a full-height bracket from some card to my low-profile HD 3450 as it's the most low-power card I have.

That's overkill for a NAS server. An E5640 with 6GB would be more than enough. NAS servers are not very compute intensive.

Well, I can underclock and -volt it then without problems also got the bracket, took it from a dead X1950 GT.

And I do have the needed DMS-59 to dual VGA cable as well so I can have an image output from this card

Drop my 2699 in it and bios mod it... I hope. Seems like 100f temps are hard on equipment. I have no ac. I have 2 failed tv digital boxes I have to send back... life on a fixed income.

You'd be surprised how little 100F effects electronics. Remember, 100F does not equal 100C. Most electronics can handle 100F as long as air circulation is adequate. Proper ventilation is the key. Keep the air moving and vent to the outside and you're golden.

Mate 100F is nothing. 100C is something. This is why universally tech people use celsius since it's easier to understand.

If you're boiling water, it's at 100c. Should be pretty easy to understand.

Well someone should tell Shaw, their equipment keeps dying on me and I lose whole seasons of recordings. Very annoying! Think I sold my system for enough to get a really
nice x99 mobo. Well it's spend up to 300can on a x99 mobo or 500can for a few extra cores on my tr system.... My 2699 says its x99 time....
