i'll reformulate my post, as my previous one was rude and pointless, apologies, it s kind of hot currently, doesnt help with patience.

so to the point :

The OP, creator of this thread, Ismail Hastanesi, said clearly he will NOT come back to the thread. Notifying or asking him directly is useless and rude.

In the last pages 18 to 22, someone explained step by step how to _try_ (i insist, TRY), with a certain pourcentage of RISK (like, broken motherboard) how to modify a Bios to add a specific Nvme mod. Reading ALL the other pages will point out that some Bios dont have enough room, that there may be checksum and bios corruption problems, and that it s never easy and "sure shot" procedure.

Even though, once the motherboard is flashed and detects the Nvme, it doesnt always mean you ll be able to boot on it, or to boot "at all". Sometimes the pre-integrated extra controllers (ex : SATA3 which didnt come in the bridge chipsets but as extra chip on the board) will conflict and freeze the boot. In those case, one MUST go to the bios and disable the extra controllers BEFORE plugging the Nvme on the board.

For any reason (loss of settings in the bios, or bios auto restore in case of wrong O/C, or power outage issue) if the bios goes back to default and freezes, you have to unplug the nvme, go back to the bios, set it up correctly again, plug back the Nvme. In case of dual bios systems, i advice, once everything is super tested and stable and fine with no more surprise, to sync the backup bios with the current one, and also, to make a backup on a usb key (that will keep the options in case you forget about the settings). another sure shot method : take pictures of all the bios sections.

In case of major breakthrough (honestly, i wonder what more can be done) or a clean HowToAddAnyNvme, it would be nice to have it at the last page after this post, and / or pinned on page 1 (i wonder if the moderator can do it, i guess it s technically possible)

But seriously, posting "help me i have a non X58 board" or "i have an unlisted hardware what can i do" is rude, too, because it clearly shows the topic wasnt read, and it disrespects all the contributors in this discussion.

There is NOTHING missing in the previous 22 pages. All is listed, source of the bios pre modification, files of original mods added, methods, tools, links, backups, methods, litterally, everything is here, there is no point in asking for "more" as i really dont see what could be missing concerning adding a Nvme on a X58 board.

If your motherboard bios is not listed on page 1, if the bios was not tested successfully, if the nvme drive reference you have does not show anywhere, it s going to be a tough process to try and make it right. If you manage to make it right and functionnal, be careful before posting "it works" and never forget to put a "at your own risks" disclaimer.

have a nice summer all, dont forget to cool down the nvme they hate high temperatures.

Hello and thank you for your efforts on keeping x58 alive and well!!

I have read over most of the comments here and have not seen my configuration. I am currently using tiny USB dongle modified to header pinout with DUET bootloader. I have gained superior speeds and saturated gen 2 PCIe!! however that is not achievable due to not being able to create raid 0 in bios. I would like to utilize your creation and do some testing myself, as well as ditch the bootloader. my configuration is
ASUS Sabretooth X58
Samsung EVO 970 (PCI/VEN_144D&DEV_A808&CC_0108)

Hello, I'm pleasantly surprised that this old platform still has followers.
That's why I would like to ask if you can provide me with a file for the system mentioned below.

System:
P6T Deluxe V1
Xeon 3690
24GB RAM
NVME: Crucial P3 Plus 2 TB
Hardware ID:
PCI\VEN_C0A9&DEV_540A&CC_0108

A successful flash has not yet been possible with the bios mods that have been created because the ROM ID is incorrect.

I would be very grateful for your efforts.

Best regards
Hackman

the method is quite simple, extract one of the rom for ssd, just replace the id with an hex editor, and put back the rom in the bios.
i m not sur Asus uses the same tools than gigabyte. I did mine with CBROM155 and a hex editor, took me a couple of minutes.

i'll post a longer explaination later on the consequences i had on my setup with a 2TB 980 Pro from samsung. still didnt understand exactly why now the boot takes like 2 minutes before actually booting. unsure if the cloning was bad or if the 850 original rom code has troubles talking with a 2TB nvme. so proceed carefully. in the end my computer is rebooted once every 10 days so i dont really care. but if ever you get a "long pre boot time" too, there might be something fishy with 2TB drives.

i lack the hardware to make a real test, and the time to make a full clean reinstall.

Hello Mikko,
better do it yourself, the bios exists, you just have to replace the hex code in one module. i doubt anyone will take the responsability of modding the bios without the possibility of testing and then tell you "go on, it s safe". this is something you have to do by yourself.

Done and done, motherboard Asus Rampage III Extreme with ADATA Legend 800, nicely working.
Next ten years more lifespan X58 systems.

Hi,

I would like to share my experience of trying to upgrade my old motherboard.

First my system:
CPU: Intel Xeon X5675
MB: ASUS P6T SE
RAM: 6x4GB Corsair DDR3-1333
HDD: 250GB Crucial SSD SATA (old)
PCIe card: glotrends M.2 NVMe PCIe x16
HDD: 1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus (new)

The way I went about it was to first clone my SSD hard drive one-to-one onto an nVME SSD. To do this, I installed a PCIe nVME adapter in my system and cloned the system drive with the help of a Clonezilla bootable USB Stick. Then I installed the BIOS update for my board. The adapter was then actually available as a boot option in the BIOS, and the system booted directly into Windows. The only thing I spent most of last weekend doing was trying to get Windows 10 (22H2) onto the system using a USB stick reinstall, but that's another story.
I did a measurement of the access speeds with CrystalDiskMark before and after.
The Result: Read and write access have increased almost six-times.

Thank you Ismail for doing such a great job!

Hi İsmailTPC_Hastanesi

Thank you for your work in keeping old motherboards looking like new. I've downloaded the version 1203 for Asus P6T Deluxe V2. Unfortunately my nvme ssd has not yet been recognized for booting, I read your instructions and I'm sending the properties of my nvme controller inserted into the pci express port. I ask please, if possible, create a new bios version compatible with this controller. My nvme ssd is a Netac NE-1TB 2280. Thank you very much from Brazil.

Same happens to me, I have Samsung 980 pro 500Gb I have modded the Bios using CBROM155 version newer versions it makes the BIOS invalid when I´m try to flash it.

In my case, Boot proccess stuck 1 minute or so at Verifying DMI pool data then 15 seconds or so before Windows 11 logo appears, so almost 1 minute 45 seconds before desktop is loaded.

Boot proccess and Windows loading is a lot faster using unmodded BIOS and Clover. Only 7-10 seconds before Clover load and boot from Nvme.

My motherboard is Gigabyte X58 Sniper.

Thanks Killogy, that is interesting experience :)
Anyone else using a Samsung 980 Pro ? there might be something interesting there.
On my side i dont really care, as i said, computer stays up, anyway, for very long uptime, but it could be nice to understand why the original bios code does not like the Pro serie.

Yeah, I have a 980 Pro 2TB and I am more or less in the same boat:
- Using my custom bios with 950 OpRom, the boot process is quite slow (not so long as yours, but still very noticeable). The bios from the creator of this thread is even slower (with all due respect to his work).
- Using the NvmeOpRom the boot process is perfect, but I have that bug restarting from windows in which the disk dissapears until you power off the system (so the workaround to restart is power off > power on).

In this post, this guy managed to solve both issues in his Asus P6T using an alternative OpRom (oprom_2260_109.bin):

I downloaded and tried with my MSI X58 Pro-E but it didn't work for me.
All my bioses were modded via the easy MMTOOL method for AMI bios.

Cheers.

My Gigabyte Sniper BIOS is Award not AMI, I also tried NvmeOpRom but Nvme don´t show in the Bios but controller is listed in the POST screen.

Did anyone managed to install a multi boot with linux, grub (or grub2), and not get mad ? seems the bios doesnt return correct informations when grub requests the "names" of the disks if nvme are involved.

Hello, please help me flash the firmware of my solid state drive into the motherboard BIOS. Thanks in advance.:)

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R (rev. 2.0)
SSD: Kingston 250GB M.2 PCIe NVMe A2000

SCSI\DiskNVMe____KINGSTON_SA2000MS5Z4
SCSI\DiskNVMe____KINGSTON_SA2000M
SCSI\DiskNVMe____
SCSI\NVMe____KINGSTON_SA2000MS
NVMe____KINGSTON_SA2000MS
GenDisk

A parallel question, when the system starts, the motherboard logo displays this set of pixels. It is not clear what caused it (Flashing the BIOS of any version and resetting the CMOS does not help). Perhaps someone knows how to solve this problem.:(
