I just love the way the last gen sapphire nitro + card looks. This new look is not my cup of tea.
The TUF looks Ok
The XFX Merc looks ok but I dislike the backplate
I cant say anything bad about the Asrock Phantom
I would choose the PowerColor Radeon RX 7800 XT Hellhound, based on it's looks. The fact you can turn off the rgb if it's not your thing, plus temperature wise it seems to be doing solid

You’re a bit late as most are out of stock lol. AMD Reference (because I’ve never bought reference design anything) on their site almost had me until I remembered the the Powercolor Red Devil Limited. It has a cool box hahahaha. Nah, I really just like the robust VRM design and cooler. Honestly they are all going to be good, it doesn’t really matter. If you have a small case, get the ASRock challenger. White theme, get the Steel Legend. Black, I’d go with the AS Phantom over the XFX Merc. ASrocks Build quality is very good. Great PCB’s. If they had cooler boxes, I would have bought the Phantom.

I would choose MSI because I know I can count on the 3 year warranty.
MSI isn’t making one unfortunately.

The reference is trash other than being compact so if you can fit the other models look at noise normalize testing and go with the chespest option you are comfortable with temps wise.

For example the Asrock Phantom beats the nitro+ while being 30 cheaper at that point do the aesthetics justify the price increase to you only you can answer that.

If you MUST use RT maybe. Otherwise it's soundly beaten by the 7800 XT in pretty much everything.

Geforce is also the better alternative if you use it for GPGPU stuff. Nvidia is waaayyyy ahead in that area.

DLSS is worth more to me than slightly better raster. By mile at 1440p where both these cards are targeted performance wise.

Yeah but even Frame gen in meh AF in the majority of games only CP2077 and Witcher 3 I really like it in out of the 8 games I've tried that support it.

and don't get me wrong at 100 cheaper 7800XT all the way I just wouldn't spend the same as a 4070 for it any day.

Whichever one you like better aesthetics wise I'd lean towards XFX personally I find the backplate of the steel legend hella ugly lol.

Are you planning on running that upgraded vBIOS ASRock released for the card a couple months ago? If you do, please post benchmarks of the thing, I'm dying to see what the 7900XTX can do when it can sustain 3GHz+ boost

Hopefully if the rads/loop can handle the power draw of this card.

As a long time AMD user I find that Sapphire seem to get the best binned chips. That means that they usually OC and UV better than the rest, especially compared to reference.
