ultrawide support? - it works better on the ultrawide than on the big monitor, thanks to 90 FOV

I guess they mean the super ultrawide with the crazy wrap around samsungs.

Surprised there hasn't been a news story about CP2077 Phantom Liberty cooking cpu's. Apparently they recommend looping Cinebench to make sure your cooling is up to the task lol

Just wanted to note that if you use mods achievements will be disabled. :D

I've never understood the point of "achievements" and no-one has really been able to explain to me that there are any. Anywhoo, there are apparently mods for that too, as you point out.

Good stuff. I've no problems myself really, but HDR calibration and official DLSS will be nice.,

To each their own, then? Would not agree. I deal with enough bloody paperwork in real life, don't need to be doing it in a video game. So no thank you on that one.

It's just that on several occasions now quest givers has complained that their biggest problem is paper work, and instead of a fetch quest it would be a breath of fresh air to have something different to do.

These days a ton of them are more ticking boxes than actually "achieving" anything. It's like you get awarded every now and then for just playing the game.

Yeah, that's kinda what it seems like to me too. And who cares about these things, and why? I've never managed to understand that.

Well, that depends on the implementation. In the early days of World of Warcraft achievements they actually felt like achievements, most of them anyway. Fish all those rare fish. Grind reputation, become Exalted with those groups. Win so and so many PvP battles. Do ALL the quests, everywhere. It took dedication to do them, and sometimes you were awarded with things like titles or tabards. Meaningless, but also strangely satisfying, mostly because they were actually meaningless. The only reason to do them was because you wanted to do them, for whatever reason you had. They were not part of normal gameplay. They can also provide goals in games that lack story, like Stellaris. Or just be a little extra carrot to put some extra effort into something you'd want to do anyway (complete the entire game without setting of any alarm). Remember in the old Thief games how at the end of each level you got a list of how much loot you missed, or in the old Jedi Knight games the secrets you missed? It's the same mechanic, but with gold stars attached to it. If it's a game I'm going to play anyway, I quite like sensible achievements, but many achievements aren't sensible. You shouldn't get an achievement for playing the game normally. But going out of your way and do something cool? Sure, I'd take a gold star for that.

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
sluggier, less cargo no advantage over the D.Re[a]dnought, and a nightmare to build even with tolerances tweaked

i present you ... well, i was working on a Dragonfire III (Dovahkiin, Dovahkiin, naal ok zin los vahriin.... aherm ... ) and then gazing upon the shape of the end product, i decided to name that one ... "Galactiroach"

well ... about half the max engine speed (99 vs 200) and boost is abysmal (it actually boost at the max normal speed of the D.Re[a]dnought ) edit: ok i am silly ... forgot to put max power on the engines...
turns out it's actualy 2m/s faster in normal (202m/s) and about 200m/s faster in boost (709m/s) o_Oalthough still less maneuverable :D

i changed the missile position (the landed pics on Neon are the recent one ) and ... yes ... it has 38 landing gears and thruster ...

i need to change some habs for cargo, or not ... still fun to use as it is.

progressed a bit in the main story, done a side one on Charibdys (no spoiler, but that one was amazingly .... "vault-tec'esque" ) and hesitating between Freestar and Crimson fleet/UC SysDef as the next one...

I suppose I just lack a specific genome then, since only the first word applies to what I feel about achievements. My main thought have always been "why the he'll won't they let me turn that stuff off?". If not in the game then at least in Steam, so I won't keep receiving nonsensical notifications.

I have never once used achievements for any game either or read them. Some of my best gaming days were on the PS2, and achievements were not even a concept in those games/generation.

In other news, I am still enjoying the game, just doing side quests and exploring right now. Really hate the "find the shimmer with your scanner" quest... cause I for the life of me can't find it. Most stupid quest I have ever seen.

Ok, I see your point. But paperwork though? I'd rather build something by hand for use in game.

I don't think it will, that ram is too low not to mention too old. CPU is quite weak as well.

Sadly, no. The CPU, RAM and GPU are all lacking for this game. Starfield requires a CPU with the AVX instruction sets and no CPU for X58 has them. That system will never run the game. You need a minimum of 6th gen Intel Core or second gen Ryzen for a CPU.

It's not just the frame rates that would be a problem. Even with my 8700K and GTX 1080 I have to drop res scale down to 50% with a mix of Low/Med settings at 1080p, and the frame rate goes under 45 FPS at points. Many textures also look pretty bad with these settings.

That said, with the hotfix just released they did talk about being in close contact with Nvidia, AMD, and Intel on driver support, and plan to have some forthcoming updates that will improve performance and stability. I myself have had numerous CTDs. I don't get the lag I did since dropping res scale from 65% to 50%, but no amount of performance updates are going to make a i9-930/GTX 1070 rig run this game, especially with old DDR3 RAM.

720P is a perfectly acceptable resolution to play Starfield at. Framerate is more important than resolution, especially in this game.
especially with old DDR3 RAM.
It's not the RAM, it's the CPU and GPU. For example, a i7-3930k with 16GB of DDR3-1600 would be fine as long as the GPU was an RTX2080 or RTX3070.

Deimos asked me to haul 5000 aluminum. I had to build a ship to carry 5000 aluminum. I ain't running back and forth a hundred times right.

The Bastion-ACH (Armored Cargo Hauler) was born.

She carries 10000 , has 50 mobility, but also two weapon groups with 3x Laser Turrets and 4x Particle Turrets plus a duo of missile launchers. This baby just flies around automatically destroying everything, and if you meet something big, you shoot once or twice after a lock. Lazy mode freightin'

Also, for some added bulk, this comes fully equipped with spacious internals for the crew!

Cargo haulers are a nice build challenge, especially when it comes to managing mass vs mobility and those landing gears... you need a lot of em :D

No. And if it would, its a slideshow and prone to crashing. This system really needs replacing for recent games. The RAM, the CPU... the GPU is still relatively functional compared to the rest, and might do 1080p/low-med

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o

The RAM, the CPU... the GPU is still relatively functional compared to the rest, and might do 1080p/low-med
the Galactiroach (Spaceroach was already taken by a critter in the game ... ) has 16661 cargo when i am in (bonus due to maxed out skill ) the D.Re[a]dnought has close to 20000 now

i fooled around with some unlimiter mods : Reactor/weapons/engine mainly, just for fun ...

"tactical exterminatus" mode Galactiroach, boost away, get a lock LT+Y+RT = "instant annihilation"

fun but nah, it's already OP with standard limitations (outside tolerance tweaks )

STARFIELD vs. Fallout 4. Kinda embarrassing. :shadedshu: Let's see how Todd is going to sugar coat that, lol.

Yeah, that's kinda what it seems like to me too. And who cares about these things, and why? I've never managed to understand that.

For some it's motivation factor to achieve certain goals in the game. ;) You can also showcase the achievements on STEAM. Or proudly showcase that you've completed the game 100%.

But STEAM achievements are kinda inflated since SAM (Steam Achievements Manager) got released where you can just unlock every achievement with one click.
Note: if you're thinking of doing that it will trigger VAC and/or game bans if you have the game running. Also if you unlock all at once or bugged unobtainable achievements you'll get flagged on achievement tracker sites. If you do it, dot it the smart way.

sluggier, less cargo no advantage over the D.Re[a]dnought, and a nightmare to build even with tolerances tweaked  ...

Man, that's kinda sexy. Slick as a space Lamborghini. Just needs some yellow paint. :rockout:You mind sharing some cockpit view images?
