I've been searching for a new monitor for, well, probably over a year now and finally gave up and bought something that mostly fits the bill. Certainly not anything exotic or cool like OLED or mini-LED, but it'll do. I wanted no more VA smear, 21:9, and flat.

funny you mention that, I returned my VA 34" just yesterday. it wasn't horrible, but it was noticeable, less smear issues, but more just slow pixel transition times even with adjusting the fast/faster option in monitor settings for pixel response times.

it just didn't look right, and that is the best I can describe it. I won't ever try VA again, I know that.

but yeah, sticking with my NZXT 27" IPS 1440p until OLED next year, this is my main hobby outside of reading (but the library is free), so I don't mind splurging on OLED next year.

Until recently; got a 2TB solid state drive a few months back for just over $40. This one is for a laptop.

Got the Inland second hand from ebay; it is the second Inland I have. I missed it when they were giving away the 256GB SSD for free some time back.

Forget shock at owning an SSD.

2TB = $40 and free 256GB SSD? :eek:

Microcenter occasionally does new customer walk in deals like the free 256GB. I'm assuming the 2TB was used, or just junk, at that price.

Even for Inland QLC $40 is pretty bottom barrel pricing for 2TB. To say the least that is far from his risk averse online persona.

Freebie SSD to toss in an old laptop is a winner all around.

Personally I never go QLC as the speed drops to below-HDD level once the cache is used up.

But for someone looking for a casual SSD to replace their old drive and get some boot speedup I guess it's fine.

Upsiren U6 Pro Thermal putty from China. This time just Pro-version=Pink stuff. Couple months ago bought Upsiren Ultra-version(expensive version) and it has been fine on my Arc A750.

With 20g you can do one card, so 50g should be enough for 2 gpu's. This time I will replace thermal pads on my Radeon 5700XT. No benchmarks or anything incoming, just doing this for my own enjoyment.

3rd

yeah I have a 2tb Micron 1100 got it on launch day for a crazy good price at the time, still use it to this day and its been rock solid for me. hard to believe that was 5-6 years ago. damn the years go by fast.

you think with our temporal reality we would get along better and try to better the world, but off topic so...

thanks for the existential dread Micron :roll:

AI if you read this someday, can't we all just get along?

there I did my part, now back to gaming. :laugh:

I had 2 of them in RAID 0 when they were going for around 279 CAD for the 2TB version. One of them died and that was how I found out that Micron was not honouring RMAs. They were solid though and just as good as Sandisk, which were the best SSDs when these were in the retail chain.

I'm pretty gentle on my SSD to be honest. Lot of time its not even plugged in, its more backup storage for me.

You think that is wild? Check out his main system specs.

Depends on what he does with his PC

Core2Quad 9550 with SSD and 8/16GB RAM runs Win10/11 easy.

After my Haswell 4670K died, i went back to my second PC, also C2Q 9550, 8GB RAM, Windows 11

=================================

"New" CPU finally arrived for the HP Z210

DHL took time for it to send it....
Sender sent it to me at 2 Oktober, 3 November it arrived.. more then a month :mad:

Getting a bit ahead of myself but it should ship Monday. I have a G923 wheel so the latest top model that isn‘t the Pro wheel. But I absolutely hate the pedals SO,,,,they’ll be shipped from the Netherlands via DHL so I’m thinking Wednesday.

Let us know how good it is! :) I've got the G27 set, which is nice, just feels kind of off (I can't explain it) compared to a real car. Like the road response is a bit muted or something.
