Let us know how good it is! :) I've got the G27 set, which is nice, just feels kind of off (I can't explain it) compared to a real car. Like the road response is a bit muted or something.
The G923 innards are the first new design since at least the DFP if not the MoMo I assure you the wheel is exactly what you’re missing because I felt the same. I had a G920 previously so same innards as yours but the brake pedal had an attempt at a “pretend load cell”using a block of rubber that did at least offer some form of modulation. The G923 pedals while well constructed etc the brake pedal is totally linear so for me it’s very frustrating despite muscle memory, you have to adjust that memory for each game as the pedal is just stiff and linear.

I don't know about you with your G920 before, but I can't for the love of God find the bite point on the pedals. It's like you're pressing on the throttle, nothing happens for a while, and then your car spins out for having too much torque all of a sudden. There's no granularity or feedback. Same thing with the brakes. You either do nothing or lock the wheels, there's nothing in between.

Of course, I'm over-exaggerating a bit, as it's still way better than playing on a keyboard.

No i understand one of the long term issues is the pots in the pedals. They are open and can get filled with dust and crud so it’s not unusual t take the bot off and shoot them all with some contact cleaner. I’m not 100% sure ab the G923 pedals if they’re using hall sensors(the Pro do) but they are at least closed pots if not. You can check using the Windows calibration under device properties to possibly see obvious “dead spots”

Apparently they havent been as good as they were a few decades ago since they were purchased by Lenovo.

Yeah, I stopped using Moto phones when Lenovo bought them. I don't trust Lenovo.

@freeagent just installed this on my new 2tb nvme drive. thermalright heatsink, only 5 bucks. if you two want to be alone before I install it, its ok

Currently, I think they are a better choice than Xiaomi for the budget.

Choice of components are rather questionable though, like I could have purchased A G84 or Edge 30 Neo for the exact same money which are better devices in every single way but the CPU they come with is the Snapdragon 695 which isnt really new, been around the block a few times and not very powerful either.

Im upgrading from a 64GB Xiaomi Note 9 Pro Max and the amount of bloat this thing has is unreal not to mention how MiUi has locked out or deleted features that would have been standard on a clean install of android - for instance, they made it super difficult to add a DNS option to the data settings and even though I managed to do it. Im not sure if it even works as it wont take the standard DNS address. My Previous device was a Huawei Mate 9 and you could change just about anything on the phone in the settings and it performed smooth as hell from the day I bought it and even now as I still use it as a mini tablet to surf the net, watch youtube and listen to music around the house although I can really feel that the CPU in it is really showing its age as some websites do completely make it chug compared to my Note 9.

The rest of my family arent really power users so to them their requirements are basic and wont really dip into all the settings under the hood where as Im very different. I like having tonnes of options/settings to really mess around with and really customize the device.

I wouldnt call my experience with Xiaomi a hateful one, Just rather annoying.

Xiaomi are currently discounting a lot of their products for black friday but I wouldnt buy another one as they have started deleting things like MicroSD card slots and stereo speakers (which are must have features for me) the higher up the price bracket you go. They might give you one thing but not the other and that is no good for me.

It’s ok I have my own :D

View attachment 320254

I actually almost bought that one, I had it in my cart, but the way my motherboard layout is, it would have been too tall and clipped my FC140 bottom, the NVME spot is just 1mm too far over to use a tall heatsink, otherwise I would have done that one 100%

next year I am buying Ryzen 8800X3D, using my MSI 360mm AIO I have in storage, so I might upgrade to a gen5 500gb nvme boot drive and get that heatsink then.

LG C4 42" OLED + Ryzen 8800X3D are going to be my main two purchases next year.

4 Arctic P12 Pro fans for under $10 each off Amazon with Prime. They're $15 on Arctic's Ebay site plus I had them at 4 p.m. this afternoon after ordering on Amazon last night.

I want to see how much better they are on Arctic Liquid Freezer II 240's compared to the stock Arctic fans in push/pull with my 5.3GHz 12600K using an externally mounted radiator. Cooling that rig hasn't been an issue but I'm trying to decide what to use on my uncompleted 6950X build for cooling.

Wow! Pull the trigger! That's a good deal.

If youre interested you can find their higher tier G84 for about the same price too. P-OLED screen and outdated CPU but much much more premium feel and build quality

Went on a shopping spree the last couple weeks and bought myself these goodies:

LG UltraGear 27GP850-B

For just 310€ this is definitely an improvement from my previous Dell S2721D. Much better colors and so little ghosting on the LG.

Some tips for maximizing its use (I did notice a difference after implementing these):
-Use Displayport cable to get 165hz.
-In monitor settings, disable power savings (enabled by default) and enable VRR, adaptive sync, freesync, set response times to Fast (rtings.com suggests Fast is better than Faster on this model).
-In Radeon settings enable VRR, Freesync, enhanced sync, anti-lag.

I may have forgotten a step or two, but most are common knowledge ones and setting them all correctly really made me very happy with the monitor as now ghosting is barely noticeable. A huge improvement over Dell.

Sapphire Radeon 7800xt Nitro+
1699146872428.png

(Disabled the RGB. Unfortunately you have to download Sapphire software for that, but you can uninstall it after disabling.)

(Upgraded from MSI 6700xt Mech.)

The Sapphire Nitro one has much better temps, is basically inaudible and the card is like twice faster than I actually need.

Logitech G815 (GL Linear)
1699146846441.png

Upgraded from a cheap 6€ keyboard.

Really liking this low-profile, linear key keyboard. Now I can type around 30% faster than on the previous hard membrane one. And it just feels nice. The only downside are the 5 G keys on the left side of the keyboard that I really don't need. But I got used to them in a couple days.

Razer Deathadder V3

Simply a perfect mouse for me and in my opinion. It's big enough, doesn't have RGB, normal design, has 8k polling rate (I use 4k) and has an excellent sensor. I feel a huge difference compared to my previous one (one of those classic 10-20 year old Microsoft mice).

Some tips for maximizing its use

I have this monitor. I recently bought a new DP cable and I dare say games ran a bit smoother with it compared to the DP cable that came with the monitor in the box. I could have gone with a 4k cable but chose 8k instead just Incase there was some sort of bottleneck from buying another cheap cable. If you're using the stock cable. I would recommend replacing it with a decent one from a reputable brand

Thanks! I was actually wanting to do that. Which one did you buy? DP 2.1 is so hard to find in my country or costs 50€.
By the way I already noticed a difference just by switching from HDMI, but maybe that's because of 165hz vs 144hz.
How are you liking the monitor so far?
For me it's a perfect placeholder why I wait (and save money) for a 2nd gen OLED gaming one.

I got stung... the PC2-6400 DDR2 RAM I just got from China turns out to be PC2-5300 (Speccy confirms it)

It works fine and passes memory tests, but it is not 400MHz and runs at only 333.3MHz (the RAM it replaced ran at 400MHz)

Why did you order from China? Stateside Ebay is your friend.

If youre interested you can find their higher tier G84 for about the same price too. P-OLED screen and outdated CPU but much much more premium feel and build quality
I already have a pair of G7's with LineageOS on them. They're great! So yeah, I'm good. :toast:

I dont believe the garbage about it being VESA CERTIFIED. But the cable worked well for me

(and yes, I'm aware that the irony isnt completely lost when I say a 'reputable brand' - Ivanky had the most amount of reviews on Amazon with their 4k cable and i dont think their 8k cable was that much more expensive so i just went with their 8k cable)
