Not really crypto, but money related, so I thought it's worth posting here.

Story: I was watching YouTube a couple of hours ago, when an ad dropped. It was (seemingly) an interview that Bill Maher made with Elon Musk about his new AI investment fund that is infinitely more efficient than what humans could do, and earns you thousands of dollars in a matter of days.

I don't fall for such stuff, but it seemed like a cut from a genuine interview, so I clicked on the link which took me to the (seemingly) BBC website with a news article about Musk's new AI fund. There was also a sign-up link on the bottom which looked a bit dodgy, so I checked the web address I was on... (drumroll)... it wasn't the BBC!

After googling Quantum AI (that's what the fund is supposedly called), I found articles that it's a scam that many people have fallen for. There's currently about seventeen different websites operating as Quantum AI, ready to take your money.

I wanted to post this as a warning, as it is a Youtube ad, so it obviously circumvented their scam protection somehow. I case any of you encounter the interview (which is AI deepfake that never happened), report it as scam, and move on. Never invest in anything with the promise of free money!

Link:

Youtube has fallen low.

Peace! :)

Musk deepfakes claiming profitable ventures in crypto are about as old as Viagra spam emails by now. I imagine a lot of people still fall for them though...

I never expected it to show up as a Youtube ad, though.

Why would anyone want to invest in Elon Musk?
He's just a rich guy with a brain of a middle school boy. I see no talent in him, just an insecure guy who craves attention.

Actual Elon or AI, it's a scam either way.

I've been seeing them for months. And the fake Justin Trudeau ones too.

I dont get youtube ads

I will agree he's smart and operates on a whole different mind set than me, but at this point, I think he's a danger to society.

I dont get youtube ads
I only get them on TV and my phone app.

Regardless, deepfake ads and scam links on YouTube are very low.

Seriously? Elon Musk now scamming people? It was just a matter of time before he went that way given the state of Twitter - hem "X".

Oh man reminds me of my dad, seeing an ad on the internet somewhere "enter your credit card number and get a free phone" there was an image of google so he thought it was run by google. Then all of a sudden there were charges made from the UK. I had to tell him to never ever use his credit card online and just tell me if he needs something.

I mean I would think that would be obvious but to people who didn't grow up with computers I can understand them falling for these things. Its like, I'm sure a car garage could scam me easier because I'm ignorant of things like that.

Have you tried the brave browser? They have a version for android and thats how I block ads. Though I know youtube is cracking down so who knows how long it will last.

Baby that's cold
It's also true though.

He was scamming people well before he bought and ruined twitter.

I've been seeing them for months. And the fake Justin Trudeau ones too.
Yep. Isn't AI wonderful?

It's not Elon Musk. It's a deepfake video ad to make it look like it's Elon Musk with links to scam websites and all. And it's on Youtube. That's the scary thing.

I grew up with computers (I'm a '90s kid), and even I had my doubts for a few moments.

It's not a big deal. I rarely use Youtube on my phone anyway. :)

And this ladies and gents is why adblock belongs on every browsing PC for every single website except TPU.

Also this. One does not simply click into Mordor

The internet was is and remains the wild west. Anything goes and you dont really have guarantees. Its code. It goes unchecked. Or checks fail.

As more and more society relies on the internet (some people don't even socialise offline anymore), I'm scared to think what humanity will become. Cyberpunk 2077?

If you start searching, you'll see a part of the young populace is already on that train, and not just a little, body modification included.

The boomers still don't really understand social media either.
Corporate is filthy rich and overpowers governments in many countries.

Oh yeah I forgot surveillance. Luckily we know where that's at. We're not China, we're just enforcing ourselves through socials :D
The dystopia is already a thing, we just don't want to know.

Folks - this thread was created to warn about a scam. Please keep the geo-politics (and politics) out of it. (Posts edited).

Scams are like evolution in reverse - they select for the least, rather than most, fit. Which is why I'm totally in favour of letting as many people as possible being caught by them, because seeing dumb greedy boomers lose their house to incredibly obvious and easily avoidable scams never gets old (see also: the BTC boom and bust). Schadenfreude is a dish best served piping hot.

Is that mean and/or unfair? Probably. But I, like evolution, don't care about your emotions - just your fitness.

who is naive enough to actively not use a systemwide aggressive adblocker? even the FBI wants you to use one to protect yourself and the first thing i did when my mom got her first tablet was installing brave with aggressive ad and tracker blocking, adguard for apps and telling her about scams on the internet.

Scams are evolution period. Survival of the fittest also means death for the unfit. No reverse about it.

But I like to think humans have risen above that. We ourselves break the very rules of evolution. No other animal does anything that doesn't help it spread its gene in one way or another. We do. And we don't have to be cruel just because nature is.

I don't like to blame victims, nobody is immune to these things, I mean, just because you are scammed doesn't mean you have the resources to spare. And you never know who is ignorant to what and why. We don't exactly choose our genes or our upbringing and that is what makes us who we are. In other words, life is just a roll of the die baby.

But I do see your point, from a cold perspective, it does have logic to it. I just choose to view the world through a different lens.

Are you kidding with that nonsense? Investing in his companies is like printing your own money.

There is a difference between natural progress and parasitical activities. Scams are criminal activities perpetrated by lowlife scub-bags. They are not evolution.

And while that is ok, remember not to mistake criminal behaviour from that which is acceptable change. Stealing is still theft regardless of it's form and method.

Yeah no I completely agree with you. Nature is cold. But that doesn't mean we have to be. We should strive to make the world a better place. In this case, thats by preventing scams. I was just pointing out that the reverse-evolution thing didn't make sense.
