I'm wondering how good and reliable those cheap branded SSDs are, namely Fikwot and Fanxiang on Amazon. Might even be Amazon's own brands because they're promoting those two more than others, at least in Germany and the US. The product presentations are decent, without crazy claims, and better than expected from a Chinese company. I even believe you get TLC if they say so.

You also have GoldenFir and KingSpec, they al seem good in youtube video's included Fanxiang and fikwot. But about longevity no one has an answer. They seem to work good and fast, but yeah you should take the specs with a grain of salt. There are cheap and good SSD available from good brands, i think i will stick there for now.

Fanxiang , Goldenfir and other's even have 3 years warranty, but i don't hear or see anything about longevity at all. You should accept some risk if you buy these.

In this video, this guy tested some of them. Keep in mind in this case it's a lottery of components you get at home...

My guess is that they use lower grade flash chips, with a significant percentage of bad blocks, which means less overprovisioning (compared to best brands' SSDs with the same type and number of chips and same capacity).

As he say, they cut every corner possible, so i would not use it to store important data.

I mean there are lots of things to fear Chinese random electronics for but the Capacitor plague hasn't really been a thing since like, the 90s.

Japanese caps are still better but the difference is not that great:

That's because in the meantime mobos have gone solid caps. I'm sure poor quality liquid caps from China are still alive and well.

Recently because we have Xmas and New year a big wave of FAKE Samsung SSD's are going around the world! Even SSD that really does not exist, such as 980EVO or 990EVO SSD.
Many of them also seem to fool Samsung Magician in the screenshot below, an 870EVO from 2 TB, but FAKE! But you can see it doesn't say it's GENUINE!

Best change, look also to the firmware version number; A REAL 870EVO should have firmware like SVT03B6Q, SVT02B6Q or SVT01B6Q, if you see anything else, it's fake!
Nowadays, you should be cautious when purchasing hardware online, even if it's not from Chinese online platforms like AliExpress or Temu. Major retailers, including Amazon, Walmart, and Newegg, have marketplaces where third-party sellers can sell their products.

There are still plenty of electrolytic caps in use, in your PSU and elsewhere. Anyways, while there probably still are horrid chinese caps my point was it's not *all* of them like it used to be.

Capxon electrolytics in particular have found their way into even high end Corsair PSUs (AXi series at least had a few) and honestly, they lasted pretty decently. Granted they weren't the bulk cap or anything but still. Teapo? Even more use them.

Well, iirc they weren't that bad even back then. It was some sort of contamination incident that led to several batches of bad caps.
