Yeah, I'll look into buying a VRM fan later, so I don't have to go the DIY route cause I'd fumble it for sure.
Take a photo of your motherboard VRM section and post it here, we might be able to tell you if you need one or not.Yeah, I'll look into buying a VRM fan later, so I don't have to go the DIY route cause I'd fumble it for sure.

Oh man, its going to be gaming only. Im srsly considering disabling 2 cores, making it 8/16, if I learn how to do it, that is loli know that board well, the VRM will be ok but if your going to do a all core turbo bios mod you will need a fan on the VRM because that will make it toasty on high long work loads but you should be ok for gaming bud.

You don't really need a fan for those VRMs. That heatsink is more than enough to keep them cool as long as you have good airflow in your case. You're golden. If that board supports it you could even do a decent amount of overclocking. Will do. I will switch CPUs right now and take a picture.
Weird, I switched CPUs, but I'm stuck at American Megatrends screen. I can get to the BIOS tho.
EDIT: NVM, after a million years it did boot Windows. Will run TimeSpy now.

Nice deal.Just brought a 2680v2 on a whim for £10
Weird.could never get it working with 2680 v1 a number of years back
Even more weird! Glad it's working for you though! After years of being left in a box, lo and behold, it POST’d with the v2 straight away!
I finally built it into a case. Had a weird problem, the first USB 2.0 header when plugged in would make the PC turn on and off after like 3 seconds. Lots of testing with everything made me realize it. I just plugged it into the second usb 2.0 header and worked. Go figure. That's not my question tho. My question is:You don't really need a fan for those VRMs. That heatsink is more than enough to keep them cool as long as you have good airflow in your case. You're golden. Weird, got a close up photo of the connector in question?I finally built it into a case. Photo of the case or at least a model number we can look up would be useful. However, as a general rule, the fan in the rear nearest the CPU socket area should be setup to force air out of the case(exhaust). Same with the top fans. Thermal aerodynamics apply. Hot air rises, cool air descends. Always work with physics and gravity. So always set your fans at the top & rear of the system to pull air out of the system(exhaust). It came with one rear fan. How should I set it?
Exactly!since hot air rises anyways, fighting against it makes zero sense.....

It best to intake from the front and top and rear to exhausting all depends on the available room you have inside the case and what cooler is used will dictate the air flow path otherwise you be fighting against postive and negative pressure by messing with the flow direction with the fans that my honest opinion. Ah the USB 2.0 connector on the case connecting to the motherboard he was referring to since there's another connector on the board looks similar like 1394 I think has a similar pin layout as it not recommended to connect the 1394 connector to the USB expansion ports on the case as it can damage the board in the process from what I read onlineI finally built it into a case. Had a weird problem, the first USB 2.0 header when plugged in would make the PC turn on and off after like 3 seconds. Lots of testing with everything made me realize it. I just plugged it into the second usb 2.0 header and worked. Go figure. That's not my question tho. My question is:
I bought a case with only rear and top mounting for fans. It came with one rear fan. How should I set it? I'm thinking blowing it out to the front and reversing the cooler fan to also blow it towards the front. And then I could set exhausts on top after, since hot air rises anyways, fighting against it makes zero sense.....
Oh yeah! That is a good case. You will most definitely be best served with that rear fan blowing air out, as shown in the photo. Same with the top fans! But this case has no support for front fans. Its this one:

It looks pretty cute, gotta say. I set it up as I said. I inverted the CPU fan too, so its also pushing air forward, so the rear and CPU fan arent fighting with each other, you know? Ill post a picture of the my case as is soon. I'm just finishing it off.

There is holes in the front of it so it should have mounting frame for intaking from the front unless it was designed to have no intake in front at all is what I'm guessing. But this case has no support for front fans. Its this one:

Certain board have heatsinks that is usually air cooled by the cpu heatsink fan if you have the down firing style heatsink like this as a example it helps with the cooling on the vrm depending on the case if it allows the space to fit itProblem is then you have no intakes at all
I set the rear fan a bit higher so its blowing air directly on the VRMs
You have the whole front panel that is perforated with vent holes. That's more than enough to provide proper intake.Problem is then you have no intakes at all
I set the rear fan a bit higher so its blowing air directly on the VRMs
