First water cooled pc in two decades

Been awhile since I messed with water cooling. This will also be my first ever hard line attempt...polishing some copper.



Getting a soft sheen now...I'll leave it at that until the pieces are cut and finalized.

Polishing these connectors is like cleaning bicycle spokes...pita. There exists what they call "stop fittings" now for copper tubing which require no soldering. I have not held one in my hand, but they appear to have a o-ring internal and the fitting itself looks pretty impressive. Edit: Nvm...I just now discovered those stop fittings have to be crimped.

Yea you need a tool for that. I remember when a plumber was in my house and first used those. I was like WTF is that?

Yeah, there is a o-ring inside that distinctive ridge and that's what is being compressed. I just thought those raised ridges would give it more character lol.

The copper pipe inner/outer diameter is going to match your fittings correct? I only ask because I don't know if it's the same measurements as tubing specifically sold for custom loops.

Just figured out today that the 1/2" copper tubing is not actually that OD. It is 0.62 inches or 15.83mm OD. Looks like I will have to find a alternative for the 1/2" connectors I have coming from Primochill. One of the reps replied in a email that their 16mm rigid SX fittings might work, but could not confirm. https://www.primochill.com/products...igid-sx-fitting-6-pack?variant=38408222048425 Perhaps someone who has used 1/2" copper tubing before can chime in with a substitute.

Edit: After some exhausting searches it appears 16mm fittings will work on this tubing. Now to determine which type/brand of fittings will work.

The new waterblocks of today are much nicer than I recall from 20 years ago.



I elected to forgo the rgb on the ram for this build as the sticks look great on their own and match the motherboard perfectly.



Picked up a nice little rgb/pwm hub that has a magnetic back so I can place it conveniently.

Finished up the connectors. I didn't have any copper specific polish on hand, but I did find some Mothers aluminum paste in the garage...seems to have done a good enough job for the fine scratches. I have learned not to touch the copper with my hands/fingers...there will be a chemical reaction in a short period of time. Gloves will be mandatory from here out until all is clear coated.

It involved using a external enclosure which housed rads/fans/pump and reservoir...so none of those components inside the pc, only two coolant tubes. I envisioned a central enclosure that could feed two separate pc's if desired. I have too much time on my hands.

Would using splitters on the fans run to each motherboard work? No idea what size psu would be required to run a pump only.

All I know about the glue is it is proven over a decade...as for the chemicals I doubt the coolant would ever make it past the seal. Soldering is nasty and a pita to clean up afterwards...why work harder?

Take a look at these guy's builds and it is clear they are not soldering pipes...no idea what they are using.
