Some bike tech appearing here, that's my jam. Gotta post too....cause I built it....I really did...the ultimate MTB fun: 26er+hardtail+rigid fork+single speed+mullet....yes....it's real. And it's every bit fun as they say!

On the saddle topic, I got a real cheap one. Saving up for WTB Silverado/Volt.

When you start seriously considering £2000-4000 wireless electronic groupsets or £500 pedals you know you've gone off the deep end

Glad I became satisfied with my own bike a few years ago and haven't had "time" to make further improvements.

I guess this tier of engineering is kinda sexy...

I mean, I'd already consider "going off the deep end" planning to spend in excess of US$150 solely on a case that will then be equipped with two 360 rads, not to mention the fans for those rads. And ffs, it's impossible to get a GPU block on the cheap here.

I can dig the sentiment, but where I live, the single speed would get you nowhere. 20 speeds on mine I find lacking sometimes, although I think of it as a perfect balance. Even going single front is a big nope, I like the speed the big cog provides without sacrificing the climbing ability.

Power is easier, especially at shorter distances.

If you can, use a turbo trainer at the gym and look at your watt output over time (generally not very accurate machines, but better than nothing). Besides apps, bike parts, fancy clothes etc. The single most influential thing you can do to improve your training is use a power meter on your bike. I recommend the Favero Assioma pro mx.

Using a turbo trainer while wearing a heart rate strap or borrowing a bike equipped with a power meter and cadence sensor will allow you to monitor your metrics, and run a functional threshold power test, which will give you a fitness baseline you can then tailor your training around.

For cadence, there is an optimal average to aim for, but this depends on your physiology.

Strava will estimate your power, and you can link it to heart rate monitors and other sensors. A real power meter is still much better though.
my smart watch doesnt work with strava :(

it still gives me an approx power rating based on other sensors.

my buddy who lives on a flat plain, told me go for single speed, it will be fun. I was like fuck no. Just putting about my local area is 10-18m of elevation change

Use your phone with a quad lock out front mount.
Connect to your watch from your phone.
Run Strava on your phone.
Have a speedometer and your estimated wattage within glancing reach, plus maps etc.

Profit

That says nothing. I own/use a hybrid smartwatch. It has only a step counter and needs Android/IOS to transfer the data. But you don't want to know how much this special edition of a swiss watch costs. ;)

fuck it, my watch is bogus. it seems like a big push by the brand who own a chain of popular gyms across the country.
The biggest issue with this stupid watch is that if you move your hands even a little bit, it cant read the data correctly. Which makes it worthless while working out :S

i just ordered a galaxy watch 4. :S ill pass this on to my mom/dad.

definitely is a lot of fun heheh.

and yes i think ill get rid of the plastic fenders soon. they had mounted the front fender wrong and i had to fix it. now ill think ill just get it off. it rattles way too much lol.

i have been tweaking the seat height quite a bit to get comfy. i am not super tall but around 5'10.5" or 180cms. the gel seat did help a lot in getting my boney ass less sore after riding.
The fenders definitely help if you're riding in water or mud a lot. It'll keep the water/mud spray off of your face and back side.

Saddles usually take some adjustment period as your body acclimates to it. It's just a matter of finding a saddle that matches your "sit bones" in your pelvis. Personally, I've never cared for gel cushions as they always made it worse. I'll usually adapt to the saddle within a couple weeks of regular riding and won't feel anything unless I've been at it for hours.

I've always kept the seat about even with the top of the stem (I'm 5'9"), keeping my back at about 35-40° with my arms fully extended.

Here we go:

- GPU thermalpads different sizes from Aliexpress...the regular Thermaltake distributor spot :D:

1708624150263.jpg

- new spool holder, same brand as my 3D printer, pretty happy with this one:

1708624150303.jpg1708624150294.jpg1708624150282.jpg

- adding USB-C front panel on my SS RV02:

1708624150218.jpg1708624150230.jpg

- spare BL touch probe as the one that came with my machine is "risky" they say :D

1708624150242.jpg

- two micro-B USb cables....as I am very slow to switch everything to USB-C :

1708624150255.jpg

- dual Z axis upgrade....kinda of made a mistake here, but I will salvage as much as I can:

1708624150188.jpg1708624150198.jpg

aaand a heat gun for general household use and also to remove stringing from finished 3D prints:

I need a step counter because of tracking my training to learn walk again. I tested a hell of different smart watches. None did work correctly. Either they told me that i was flying to the rest room or they said that I did an 3hr walk to it. Additionally for me a watch is a kind of culture. Especially because of my grandmother'S family history. Her people started as gold and coppersmiths around 1350 with a own business. Also they have been forming members of the gold and coppersmiths guild in Nurnberg/Germany. If one grows up in that family the watch is never "only" a watch.

I assumed you used one to buy through Amazon. Depending on the tier (e.g. MC Gold), the issuer may give you price protection as an option.
If not, my mistake.
I don't have a local credit card, so no.
Also not sure local credit cards do that here.
Paid with a debit card.

I just got some print to order t-shirts from CafePress; they used to do ink-jet printing, but now it's just the usual rubberised finish that I hate. Does anyone know who still does ink-jet printed t-shirts?

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
noticed i still had funds in my steam wallet o_O

a bunch of games ...
1708642772682.png1708642794567.png

yep ... bought Total Anihilation and all Master Of Orion (i still have the original manual for TA ) everything DOOM from '95 to Eternal season pass (well it's cheaper than buying the 2 Ancient Gods DLCs ) passing by D3/D3BFG/D3RoE (which i also still have the physical box/CD/manual aside the BFG ed.), No Man's Sky because, why not ... Palworld errrr ... well i technically hate Pokemon (or anything inspired by it), but that one seems like a barrel of
multiple barrels alligned, even
ss_f81b7c4f20be3b99f76a1415c4cdb9b444c99b97.600x338.jpg
fun and Tomb Raider I , II & III remastered (still have TR I CD somewhere  )

Dooms up to D3RoE and TR will be just what i need o the Ally :D

and Torchlight Infinite entered my top 10 of my most played games ;)

I need a step counter because of tracking my training to learn walk again. I tested a hell of different smart watches. None did work correctly. Either they told me that i was flying to the rest room or they said that I did an 3hr walk to it. Additionally for me a watch is a kind of culture. Especially because of my grandmother'S family history. Her people started as gold and coppersmiths around 1350 with a own business. Also they have been forming members of the gold and coppersmiths guild in Nurnberg/Germany. If one grows up in that family the watch is never "only" a watch.
same with the cheapo one i had.

the samsung watch is doing quite well in terms of counting steps :D

battery life culd be better, but then again, i have had 3 updates since i got it today morning.

Just use Duracell batteries.

I use Duracell in my Casio G-Shock Cockpit series.
My next Casio watch may be with solar energy.

Not exactly. Any battery runs 1/2 year. Only Panasonic CR3032 runs 2 yrs. according to the manufactorer. ;) Don't ask me why but it is. It's a cheap Festina Smart-Watch F20549/1 as a special edition. I desperately need that working step counter. I track that at a excel sheet since i bought that watch around 18 Month ago.

My (cheap) Edifice runs 10 years on one battery.
My Breitling doesn't run on any battery. But both of them aren't smartwatches at all.
