never bothered to check whether or not it can fit in my case.
I had the same XP with my current PSU and I had to get rid of the drive bay for that matter. Fortunately, this bay wasn't necessary for me so not a big deal.

Congratulations on the purchase!

I'd get the 4080, the bigger cache makes a differance.
Performance penalty mostly comes from lower SM count and lower frequency. Cache makes a difference but even at 64 MB, this GPU would be 10+ percent behind 4080 in every task.

Got my ASUS ProArt RTX 4080 yesterday and suddenly realized that I had never bothered to check whether or not it can fit in my case. Luckily, it seems it can. The card is supposedly 30 cm long and I have room for 32 cm cards in my case (without removing a drive bay that contains drives). I would also be able to fit some of the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER cards, but, for instance, not the ASUS TUF RTX 4080 SUPER, even if I wanted to spend more money.

Now I'm waiting for my new PSU. After thinking of getting the be quiet! Straight Power 12 850W I found the FSP Hydro Ti Pro 850W at a reasonable price. Should be in my hands some time next week.

When I bought mine, I hadn't checked previously if the card fits in my previous case.....Long story short....It didn't fit. loool.
So, I ordered the case I have now.

Upload a pic or two if you can.
I think the ProArt is probably the most beautiful card along with the FE.

I can probably snap a picture or two of the card when I take it out of the box, but that's probably not what you're asking for. Thing is, even after having assembled my own PCs for about 30 years, I really suck at cable-routing etc. The inside of my cases usually look like a big mess. Good thing I prefer closed cases...

Nah, any photo would do.
It's just interesting to see how the card look under normal humane lighting.

Unless you have plans for 4K or another high refresh display you don't need to shell out for a 4080 or 4070 Ti Super.

Just get the 4070 Super and call it a day.
I only have the regular one and it's fine for 1440p/144Hz.

Pocket some cash now on the refresh cycle, and go big once Blackwell drops :)

I would have agreed that waiting for 5000 series would have been the smartest move. But OP got a very good deal on a 4080, and has already bought it.

Why not? 4080 will be capable of 1440p60 for longer than 4070. It's always nice to have an overkill GPU.

Because you don't need to?
It's just a suggestion (albeit too late) - there's no right or wrong here...

It would depend if he sticks with his gpu for 3 years and waits for 6000 series, or buys a 5000 series gpu though. The 16gb vram on the AD103 cards (4080 and 4070 ti super) will make them age alot better than the AD104 cards (4070 ti, 4070 super and 4070).

But as always, it's up to the person holding the wallet, even if we disagree with the choices.

My next monitor will definitely use 4K resolution. When that will be I don't currently know since I'm quite pleased with it as it is. Well, apart from the fact that I'm forced to get Geforce cards while it lasts. As for waiting for Blackwell; of course that would've been possible (in fact, it still is, since I still have a week to return the card, no questions asked), but you may end up waiting forever, because the next big thing is right around the corner. Currently I'm using a GTX 1080, which I bought second-hand back in 2018. I thought, now was the time. Also, for some personal reasons, I wanted to pamper myself. And I fully expect to get at least 5-6 years out of this card, if possible.

@azrael Bet you are glad now that you grapped that great offer, and didn't get the 4080 super :p

And going by the rumours of 5000 series performance, you will be better off sticking with your 4080, skip 5000 series, and then buy 6000 series when that launches in 3-4 years :)

Indeed. Even though it's still an insane amount of money. Fun fact: Within the last couple of days the card sold really quickly. After being stuck at 80+ for most of last week, at the beginning of this week there were 50+, then 30+, then 5+ (yesterday morning), then 0 (yesterday afternoon af 15:00 CET) in stock. But hey, now I could get an ASUS TUF 4070 Ti SUPER OC for the same amount...

Yeah, people realized what a good deal it was, when they saw that the 4080 super is just 3% faster... lol. And to think some people here claimed it would be 15% faster... xD

people that saw the specs knew it wasn't much faster then non-super. The biggest + is 200$ cheaper price.

I know I still owe you guys a couple of photos. Thing is a couple of weeks ago I was emergency admitted to the hospital. Was in for a scanning and then they kept me. Nothing life threatening, but even though I'm back home now I'm still impaired enough to not being able to work on my build. I hope you'll bear with me.
