Yeah, educational and mainly wood. I think it can manage some aluminum, but I am long way from Texas

there.

Planning to get a board with external drivers and add closed-loop stepper motors for better accuracy. Have my eyes on this....once I get some experience with it though.

Bought this mini semi-DIY AMP to drive my speakers, it's really quite good for the size and price paid £11.99 much better than the previous cheap chinese one I had been using but has seen better days, it has aux in, headphones, Bluetooth USB in and L/R speaker inputs, doesn't seem to drive my AKG 702 headphones very well which I'm pissed about as it was one of the reasons I bought it, I don't think there is an amplification going on through the AUX out :confused:

sound from the speakers though is very good so I can't complain on that front.

I hope the fan control on yours is better than my Soyo AliExpress special 2060 Super. The rest of the card is great but the fans are just awful. I could deal with them merely being loud but on occasion they decide to spin down for a second, then over-recover spinning way up and then quickly settle down again. Workaround is to OC/UV and run at 70-80% power and it's reasonably well behaved while running cooler.

I have that SOYO card myself (I purchased it as a back up GPU). I didn't notice about the fans, but the ambient volume in my location appears to be a lot higher than what everyone else is used to.

I have this one (unfortunately it doesn't support TRIM.).
For me it works with laptop HDD's like WD Scorpio Blue 500GB WD5000BEVT (uses 0.55 amps).
I've also used it with SandDisk SSD (1.5 amps, not friendly with some USB ports) and Intel SSD's (1.0 amps, no issues so far)

I don't mind background noise either, even from a 'loud fan' GPU, as I've never had a quiet office or house. But it's the fans spinning down then up again for no reason when under a constant load is what bugs me as they really shouldn't be doing that. Since the GPU was quite affordable and direct from China, I accepted this flaw and will at some point replace the current cooler with some case fans.

But have you had a look at these coolers? Everything is screwed in layers to everything else so I think the whole heatsink and maybe backplate needs to come off just to remove the fans. Why would you design it this way, it looks harder to manufacture and build than a simpler design??

Ordered a USB C to A cable with resistor as the previous ones were not working with the hubs I have; one cable does work with the hubs, so I know the issue is with the other cables.

Liked the Lenovo M10 Plus so much. Im getting a second lenovo tablet.

It will replace my old and very graceful Huawei Mate 9 to do basic tasks. Youtube, listening to podcasts while im around the house and light web browsing

Screen resolution on it is a bit of a downgrade compared to the Mate 9 but there isnt a better option for around the same money and i dont want to be squinting at a 6" screen all day.

(I mean you could say it was destiny... Mate 9 - M9... M(ate)9. heh) weather conditions are currently terrible so there is no picking it up till tomorrow.

The only lenovo stuff I would by is ye olde IBM Thinkpad line. Still some of the best value for Home/Office use laptops out there, and practically indestructible.

I currently use a prototype Lenovo E14 with an AMD CPU as my laptop, my parents have used a T490 with a 8565u for the past five years, no issues beyond it overheating sometimes when they were in Australia. They have good keyboards and when configured correctly (avoid the ideapad) last pretty long. The T490 has a dual battery system which is quite useful, as you can hotswap one battery while the PC is on.

I used to shit on lenovo stuff all the time. I had one of their older tablets which was rubbish and had all sorts of problems. The OS they were running being one of the problems and built in memory card reader just loving to corrupt/destroy all the data that was stored on the cards that were plugged in and I stayed well away from them after that.

Cant speak for longevity or long term reliability but my Motorola and M10 Plus have been working really well since i got them. Maybe India is just so hot and humid that tech there just degrades faster when in that sort of environment.

I wish they did an M9 pus with a better res and maybe a more modern snapdragon chipset. I would have paid a little more for that.

At work we are using a T550 (IIRC) with some sort of 4th gen Intel to run an office screen (dashboard for everyone to see) and it is going strong still.

eh, i use a thinkpad E4 for my work. the power button has already hit its limit after 1 year of slight usage (i use my desktop for the most work, laptop when travelling)

Not for gaming. (but there is a driver mod to use 3D accelleraton)
Volta 5120 cores, 16Gb vram HBM2, tensor cores.... so it is for Cuda and AI.

Cooling is a little gettho, a blower fan from a cheap dell SFF pc.

It works i wddm mode .

Had a couple of Lenovo tablets for my youngest, she is 8 next week and due an upgrade as her latest one has screen cracks, tbf it still works pretty good, have been eyeing up some Teclast ones on Amazon, they have decent ram, storage and screen for the £ the only downside is the SOC is not the strongest, this is the one I'm looking at buying her, 1080p, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage as well as a SIM tray for 4g/5g as she uses WhatsApp, not bad for £80
